ASPCA Commercials

Does anyone get sick of seeing these adverts? I mean I love animals and I don't want to see them get hurt but daaamnnn. As soon as I hear the line "In the arrmmmss of an angelllll!" I immediately switch channels. I thought they were only showing in the USA but nooo we have them here in New Zealand now. -_- You see I was in the kitchen, and from the living room i heard that song, so I went into the lounge to find on tv an abused puppy.

It's like annoying adverts are taking over, I have to change channel when a certain Anti Speeding ad comes on, now this?

I don't like them either. It's not that I don't like what they're trying to do. I just feel like they're really over-played and far too long and depressing. I know that at least here in the US there is an astronomical amount of homeless and abused pets, so I understand them trying to really dig into people's hearts, it's just not something someone like me, who is already fully aware and incredibly broke with a baby at home, wants to see every day.

I don't mind them at all - sure they may be depressing but it's what's happening in the world. I personally don't abuse pets, and am looking into volunteering @ a local animal shelter... so it's not really directed at me lol. But I do know that some people (stepmother *cough*) are really blind when it comes to these kinds of issues, and they just don't give a shet... and it's for this reason I don't care if I see them or not.... Because they really do need to be played, even over played until it starts getting the message across. You know? They are real animals lives,

Anyways.
And this is coming from Canada too so. I'm sure they must be in all English speaking countries then o:

I hate them....they make me cry every time.

My downstairs neighbors dog looked like he belonged in one of those ads, so we called the ASPCA and got the dog taken away.

It was odd though, when we called they gave us a very careful, "You maybe over reacting, and we may not be able to do anything speech" then they came by, saw where the dog was being kept, and told us to call immediately if we saw the dog outside again.

It took three tries and an other neighbor being ticketed, but that dog was finally rescued. Which made me happy cuz, that dog was being abused.

So then the neighbors bought another dog...and we did the same thing, and that dog got taken away. Now when they dog sit they are much more careful about leashes, and letting us know the dog is not thiers..

I'm vegan and I'll admit that those are annoying.

I wouldn't say any that we have in England are quite that tiresome, but we do have similar things. I don't mind them generally, but that might be due to the fact i watch TV so infrequently i don't see them as much as some people might. I know my dad turns them off as soon as the ads start.

Ach. I hate those commercials. Lordy, I hate seeing animals suffer, and if I never hear Sarah McLachlan's "In the Arms of an Angel" again, it will be too soon.

I love my baby girl (talking about my cat) and I will protect her with my life, stop guilt tripping me, damn it. I don't need your depressing shit on my T.V. Don't try to make this my problem when I've got other things to deal with. If I could help, I would help.

I also turn off the T.V. every time I see one of those damned starving African child commercials. Again, it's like, I KNOW, I'm sorry. It's not my place to help right now. >.>

I never donate to charities if I don't know exactly where my money is going. I don't want to think I'm supporting cause and have the charity giving money to a cause I do not support. But yeah, I hate seeing those commercials too because abuse upsets me as well. It's sad what people do to animals and I don't understand how anyone can be so cruel to a living being. I have five bearded dragons, a snake, five cats, and a dog that were all rescues.

I hate that advertisement, simply because it makes you feel guilty. I have an adopted dog and cat and yet it still makes me feel guilty. I'm sorry I can't adopt you all, really I am. u.u

There are reasons I don't watch TV.

CADFND 04-08-2012 08:40 PM

I love animals a lot, and it breaks my heart watching those commercials. I usually have to focus on something else, change the channel, or leave the room, because a few times they made me cry. I love animals and hate seeing them abused, but it kind of feels like torture to me since my family's a bit strapped for cash and we'd donate if we could- heck, I'd donate if I could, but I don't think I'm old enough to do that on my own yet/I have some cash, but not a whole heck of a lot.
