My parents really wanted to name my older sister 'CJ' but my grandparents intervined saying they would not call their oldest grandchild by initials, so my parents named her Cara Jennifer -Last Name- (Jennifer being her middle name). the funny thing is none of my grandparents call her Cara, they all call her CJ. *laughs*

I don't have a really weird name. My name is Lydia. It is a family name. But I do have 2 middle names which isn't very uncommon, but I still have a mouth full of a name.

I like strange names, but I don't have one myself. I can relate to you a little, though, in that I was also named after a dog. -_-'
I know a guy named Hurricane.

Well, my first name is pretty common, but I love my slightly off-the-wall middle name. "Fair". I used to hate telling people that because I was embarrassed, but once I hit college I decided that I actually like it a lot. It makes me sound like I'm a princess. :) However, my first name does have an interesting story behind it. Over the years I've been told that I either got it from a friend of my mother's or from a character from a Clint Eastwood movie. I've begun to think it's more likely that I got my name from the Eastwood movie.
And I will not lie, I've known some strange names. Once knew a girl named Takeila. We were in high school, so yes, there were lots of beer jokes. Thankfully, she knew we were teasing her out of love. She was a scary woman.
---------- Post added 04-22-2012 at 08:28 PM ----------
Oh, and I also knew a girl whose name was Heaven Lee, and a boy who went by Will, last name Verine. Say both of them out loud and be either amused or disgusted. I, personally, am amused by the latter and slightly disgusted by the former.

Mine is unusual more than it is strange. I've only ever met a handful of people with it too. I quite like how rare it is, although it's a source of endless annoyance to me when i hear other people called 'Maz', the nickname i've always had. I prefer saying that to my actual name, Marion. It just sounds awkward to me when i pronounce it.

Recently I met a man named Eggman. It was all I could do to bite back a laugh. I don't usually hear the name Marion, Sun, that's refreshingly unique.

One of my first names is Lolita.
My last name is unique. Only two people in the world has it. I also have an uncommon first name. Not only that, it's an uncommon old German name most people don't know and I look completely Asian.
I had a friend name Fuk (yes pronounced like the curse word), also knew a person named Sopharith.

I have a common name, Sarah - but my brother is also named after a pet!
I have a cat named Ashes, and another named Finnigan.
So, when my brother decided to come around - and we couldn't think of a name.. Asher-Finnly was suggested...
It was a joke at first, but it grew on me and my dad.
My mom objected to it - not wanting to name the kid after the cats. BUT, Asher finally grew on her too... No Finnly[Sadly - I'll use it as a nick name. :)]
So yes....Asher - its quite, different. But I love it! And him. ^^
Also.... I don't know if you know this... But Gizmo is the name of the Mogwai from the Gremlins...One of my favorite movies...ever.... so I love your name! ^^;

My first name is not that unusual, but it is a bit uncommon and as a result people often call me Linda or Lindsay instead of my actual name which I shall not share, but you could possibly figure out.
I also once knew a girl whose first name was the same as her last, exactly the same. I felt sorry for her at the time but she didn't mind and now I actually think it's kinda cool. I guess because her name only had one syllable and together with her surname would only be two of the same sound it was easy to say and everyone called her by her full name.

My name is Clorissa.
Not Clarissa.
Not Chlorissa.
Clorissa.
My father and I quote, "Made it up" because he couldn't come up with a name for me.
Through elementary and middle school, I had no friends Not a single one. You wanna know why? Because 98% of the kids I knew found some way to ridicule me because of my name. they called me all kinds of funny shit that normally wouldn't even be offensive, but because they were mocking something that I couldn't change about myself - something that I didn't even choose to be called, I found it extremely offensive. In middle school it got tougher - I was known as Clitorissa, or Clitty, or Clo-rit, shit like that. It was awful and I still hear it sometimes. Nowadays it's easier to brush off - unless someone really persists with it.. But it still happens.
If I had the money to change my name and all of the important documents that it costs money to change your name on, I would.. But it costs a pretty penny when you deal with all of the paperwork fees and whatnot. I'm not sure what I'd change it to, but perferrably to something that people couldn't use to torture me.

I think that's a really neat, unique name.
And I really like the middle name Paisely. Might have to steal that for the daughter I have someday. She could be Euphoria Paisely. :3

@ Clorissa: That makes me incredibly sad. I was picked on in school for lots of things I couldn't really help too, so I know how it is to be called names. To this day I refuse to be called by food names like "Cupcake" or whatever because I hated being referred to as "Jelly Roll" so much. However, for it to be about your name is dreadful, especially since I like your name.

My name isn't strange, I think, just very uncommon where I live. I'm from Romania and my name is Ingrid (germanic name because I'm of german descendance - an entire history lesson about my region would be helpful here but...let's just leave it) also my family name is strange, german but sounds more italian Debona. So whenever I go somewhere where I have to say my name I always have to repeat it a few times until they get it right.
