Upon finding this information, I feel even less inclined to head out into the world. I think I shall spend the day on the computer, blinds closed. I won't even go out for mail. Maybe even order some pizza with the instructions of "Ring the doorbell and set the pizza down. Money is under the mat. Keep the change." In order to keep with Hermit Day, I'll just spend more time with my own cats. And I suppose I'll fix myself a bowl of oatmeal, sure why not!

I know some of you can't be so lucky to stay inside whenever you please, real life obligations and all that, but if you could, what would you do?
Any of you work with cats?
And how many of you guys had to take that oatmeal bath when you got chicken pox (or poison ivy)?
Any of you actually interested in these one-day events? I know there's "Talk like a pirate day" and some others... what are some you know and have participated in?

Finally, a day that celebrates my life! I live on my computer, have cats, and, due to medical issues, am pretty much a hermit. Now all I have to do is figure out something to do with oatmeal and I've got the day covered.

Well now, what a perfect time to be more or less stuck indoors. It seems the weather means to enforce Hermit Day in certain parts of the ole US of A. I plan on hermiting like a boss today, though more because all highways are to be closed to non-emergency vehicles in a little under an hour. Still, I suppose I'll technically be celebrating H Day this year. A-yup.

As for the oatmeal and cats...I do wonder if we have some of the former left. I could really use something hot right now to chase the day's chill away. And cats...well, not only did I spend several years volunteering at a shelter (and socializing feral cats), but I happy to own a lovely nutter of a cat named Peanut (and yes, some day I may well be an old cat lady...that strikes me as a perfectly acceptable life choice).

@Seri: I was thinking the same thing in regards to the storm. Hope things are safe for you!

Oatmeal would be pretty perfect for a day in. All I have is plain oatmeal, but I think I'll add some honey to it. Maybe something else if I find anything. And aww. How was socializing feral cats?

If I knew about this sooner I would have skipped college to be a hermit! I'll spend my night sitting on Tumblr, looking at cat gifs and ignoring people, so that counts right?

If I could stay in all the time and ignore people life would be great. A massive room of books and a never ending supply of food and tea. Video games and internet are also a must. >.>

Heck I did not know this at all but heck I sleep most of the day away. plus I only talk to people in person when I have two. but sadly I don't own any cats,but then again. most cats don't like me. I'm more of a dog person and a other thing I love being on the net so this is easy. yet I don't like oatmeal so that is only thing I won't have around my house food wise.

Speaking of national days, today was National Text Your Ex Day and I think I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than do that Who even comes up with these days?

That's kind of funny though because today is when I decided to fully reconcile with an ex-friend.

I actually am quite housebound due to a disability so I have a stay in day more often than many people. Today I watched lots of Law and Order SVU and played my Pokemon Black 2 game and texted my girlfriend haha
