If you were:
  • How many people raised/was in foster care?
  • Was it as bad as people seem to think?
  • Were you adopted in the end?
  • What did you think of it (if it was a temporary foster home)?
  • Were you associated with other foster families and foster family events?
  • Do you want to be a foster parent?
  • Do you want to support foster care?

If you weren't:
  • If you have never been in Foster care do you know anyone who has?
  • What is your view from an outside view?
  • Do you want to be a foster parent?
  • Do you want to support foster care?

I did. It was bad but not as bad as people seem to think. The only bad thing that was in it was the other people in the house. They all had mental and social disorders. So it was rough on me, being the most normal and sensitive in the household. My parents did the best they could. I was fortunate enough to be in one house for foster care which they ended up being my Guardians. For those of you who don't know a Guardian is basically someone who raises a child that isn't there's and the child's birth parent can come back at any time and prove they can take care of them. It's still considered foster care. At least that's what I was told. I want to be a foster mother. But as an emergency caretaker. That is where the kids are taken when taken out of the house. You take care of them for 30 days while they figure out court stuff and find a more permanent home. I know foster care can be rough because bad families are taking kids/teens in. My foster care mother is trying to become a teacher to teach incoming/current foster care parents how to become better foster parents.

I knew a person that was in foster care in California. We use to send mail back and forth. It was a sort of a love letter back and forth. We eventually stopped talking and he went out of the system at the age of 18, so he is out of the system. He is 19 now though. He's in college now and has a girlfriend, I'm happy for him. He didn't like his foster care system, it was horrible to him. That was the only person I knew in foster care. He was never adopted, he always went to a house or went to his uncle house. I'm not sure what happen now to him or anything.
