I just pre-paid for my most expensive meal of my life for the upcoming NYE. I cry just thinking about it but it's for a special occasion.

It got me curious though, what is one of your most luxurious or expensive meals that you've had?
Did it live up to expectations and cost?

Pics or links to sites and menus would be great too!

Most expensive meal I had was a 20 dollar meal from this japanese steak house. I think half the price was for the entertainment. Which was nice but the meal itself was normal and not too exceptional.

I also have gone to Red Lobster once and gotten a 50 dollar meal (for two people) it was alright, again if the company is good then the meal is delicious, if the company isn't great the food won't be either.

Most I spent was $40 on a meal for homecoming. My "date" was a bum and didn't want to pay for either meal so I told him since he's that big of a douche he can deal with his half of the bill on his own. The $40 was just for my half. It was an okay meal. Another time I spent $50 at an Ethiopian place. It was awesome and well worth the money.

I got a filet minion at a hotel once that was like.... $70
It was so tiny, but it was the best filet I've ever eaten in my entire life, oh boy.
It was the texture of mashed potatoes it was so great.

The most expensive meal I've had was at Wasabi, a Japanese restaurant we have around here. I don't remember how much it actually came to, but I had some pretty fancy sushi rolls that were DELICIOUS. Completely worth it. I haven't been back since then, which was almost exactly two years ago, on my birthday. o.o

My (more or less) required work parties are usually over $100 per person. It's usually pretty decent food (sashimi, nice catered dishes, fancy desserts, lots of drinks, etc.) but not something I'd buy myself if it wasn't organized by my work. For our end of the year party, we'll all be staying at a hotel with a hot spring and have dinner together. I'm looking forward to it, but it'll probably cost around $200 including the hotel.

(I should probably mention that I live and work in Japan. That's why things are so expensive.)

I've never eaten anything overly expensive... I think the most I've ever paid for a meal was when I went to this "all you can eat" buffet establishment. Although, I can't remember how much I paid, since this was overseas.

I once paid $7 for a hot chocolate at a Hilton Hotel, was out with friends at the time and we went in for live music. Ah well.

I have paid over 100 US dollars for the ingredients to make a meal for two people, which was certainly worth it, to not only please my partner but to be able to use such high quality ingredients and make an amazing meal. Regarding restaurant meals, have not paid for but have been served a meal that, if I remember correctly, was nearly 17,000 yen. (around 200 US dollars) I have so say, as guilty and unsure as I was, the food and entertainment was certainly worth the money and is something I shall never forget.

Hmm... I can't remember except on a time I went out on a date and I was bought something like some sort of chicken meal from a Japanese place in New York City... I wished I could remember the name of the place as it was last summer... It was really good is all I remember and my meal was like forty dollars but my date insisted on paying for it. Of course I didn't object too much lol

There seems to be a pattern emerging: Japanese food is expensive.

I had gelato yesterday and for two gelatos one scoop each it was 1000 rupees together (about $18-19 cad) ;n; Though it tasted awesome I felt like it was such a rip off and I felt so bad because my cousin paid for it :C

I didn't pay for the meal - but a co-worker treated me and my husband to dinner at Le Bec Fin (Le Bec-Fin - Welcome)

It was the tasting menu so it was a 10 course dinner and each course was paired with a glass of wine. Was totally incredible and possibly the most delicious food I've ever eaten! I think that meal option is about $85 a person - but I could be wrong.

When I think about expensive food, I think about my imported snacks of which I bring to the office and a lot of them end up being eaten by my colleagues ^^"

I buy my biscuits from Marks & Spencers... They are pricey here at almost 3 times the price of normal biscuits, cookies or pastries
And my potato chips are Lays, Ruffles or Herrs... I live in Malaysia so a pack is usually like 10 bucks... Normal chips costs only like 2.50. LOL!

The most expensive meal I've ever paid for was in Wolfgang's Steakhouse in NYC. I believe that i spent easily over $200.00, but it was well worth it. The food was simply delicious, especially the porterhouse steaks, they were so tender and juicy it felt as if they were melting in your mouth.

hmm, i think it was a meal in Japan.
i don't remember the total, but i was shocked when the bill came.
i had blood orange juice, some really good steak and vegetables and some hello kitty rice and jasmine green tea.
then for dessert i had a parfait, it had ice cream then corn flakes then fruits and more corn flakes and ice cream, yum!
all topped off with some whipped cream and nuts.
it was delicious!
