So I just completed my taxes...
AAAAAGHHHH!!
I'm 99% sure one of my previous employers went out of his way to make it as difficult as possible.[angry] Anyhow. One of the first (and also final) questions on the tax software was: What is your current Marital Status? -Married -Not Married -Not Sure [huh] And uh.. while it gave me a good laugh and a much needed moment of comedic relief after the stress of the whole process.. America, do we REALLY need a "not sure" on our marital status buttons? Is it that bad here these days? And.. I dunno. I needed to rant. Hi! ^^; |
I had four W2s to deal with this year so taxes were a pain for me. I didn't even get that good of a refund but it helps anyway.
|
Ouch, I'm sorry you had a unpleasant time!
I was actually quite surprised how easy my taxes were this year, even with interest, dividends, and whatnot to report. |
I had 2 W2's and one.. unusual form to report "miscellaneous income" which turned out to be the biggest pain.
Thankfully, I don't plan on having to do THAT again! Really, it wasn't all that bad except for how vague and complicated that miscellaneous thing had to be. Thanks, (writes name of evil previous employer here and then blocks it out in a scrawl of resentful scribbles). And I get more money back than I expected so that's extra nice. :3 Now what to do with it.. |
I plan to use mine to visit my friend in a few weeks. I so can't wait.
|
I did turbo tax a few months back, and the website was flipping out at me because I was filing in two different states. I had to use the dreaded "back" button but thankfully none of my info was lost and the option to correctly file for two states showed up. \o/
LOL at the "not sure" part though. I can understand something like "declined to say." |
Indeed! Yeah, in spite of having all those employers I stayed put in one State this year. I actually felt a little disappointed that I could only report one State. It means I didn't move around enough.. >:0 I'm a wandering soul and my feet are gettin' itchy again! ..in a figurative sense, that is!
|
*laughs* my mom does my taxes, for both my older siblings as well.
I was quite happy. I had 5 job changes this year -in a 3 month radius- and ended up with over 1,000$ back from the government. Makes me happy :) |
omigoodness! That's so much crazyness! Your mom's a hero for doin' all that and not getting confused! ^o^
(I really like your black and white fishes! What's that item called?) |
Yeah, she has file folders and tax programs and everything. She says its easier for her to do it then try to teach us, especially since math isn't the strong suit of my siblings and I.
Thanks you. The fishes are from a CI, Ying Yang...Yin Yang.... Something like that. Sorry my phone hates helping me find out item names. -.-' |
I've only done taxes once and that was last year. I used Turbo Tax and even though I had hardly any information readily available to put on the forms, I felt proud.
Now, a couple of days ago I went to do some pre-employment paperwork for my new job and I had no idea what any of the forms were talking about, lol. I'm planning on doing them again at the end of this year, and this time I'm gonna have everything there (including my mom) to hopefully make the process a bit smoother. |
Ahh! Thanks Codette I found them! Yin Yang it is indeed. What cuties. I'll have to save up. <3
Moogle it certainly is somethin' that gives a feeling of pride! This is the maybe 3ed time I've done it myself, but it gets easier each time ('til you get a boss that wants to complicate things for you by giving you rare pieces of paperwork based on superficial technical stuff. Blah!) It's so nice that so many of you have moms that know how to do this and are so helpful. -^_^- |
