So it's black Friday

And I am sitting art work, phone lines are dead and I got two hours to go before I am home free. Or rather mall free cause that's where I am headed after work. What are you up to today? Did you get to shop or did you have to work? I am super sleepy been here since five thirty this morning lol.

Aw you had to go to work at five thirty? Well done for getting up ha! :) I hope you got some good bargains. Black Friday isn't as big in the UK but it is getting more of a big deal every year. I heard that Asda (Wal-mart) had some problems with the crowds. Only some stores participate in Black Friday so I didn't get the chance to go to any. However Amazon seems to be the front leader in the deals every year so it's more like a Cyber Weekend for us.

I Looooooovvveee Amazon lol. I shop on that site all the time. It's bad lol Actually I worked from 5:30 am to 4 pm so most of the sales were wrapping up as I was on my way out. I did get a super cool deal on dungeons and dragons tile sets at the mall where I live though so that was a plus. I love the deals on black Friday but the people are crazy, and very very rude.

I worked, but I wouldn't exactly call it Black Friday. I work at a LensCrafters in a mall an we ran our normal 10am to 9pm hours, while the rest of the mall opened at either 8 the night before or midnight at the latest. I worked 9:45 to 3 and when we opened our gates at 10, between myself and my manager (the only two people running the front end until noon), we were kept busy and running around so it was nice. I had to wander the mall for about an hour as I waited for my boyfriend to pick me up, but I didn't buy anything.

I work for a call center we didn't get to busy. I knew we wouldn't. I wish we'd have just been closed.

My dad works at Sears and he got good hours 7 am till 4 pm but he said it was a mad house and the whole store looked like a tornado went through it. I know it's black friday and all but can't people still be tidy when they shop?

I can't work so I have nothing to say for myself. But my whole family buys gifts around the year for christmas so we don't fall into these black friday/ cyber monday traps.

God I wish we weren't busy. I work at a tea store in a mall, and it was so busy that I'm still trying to find pain killers to dull my aches, 19 hours after my shift ended! And if I didn't value my life I still wouldn't have gone shopping. On of my regulars was at best buy and told me that a woman had a set of Dr. Dre -or whatever- speakers and another woman took them from under her ARM! Proceeding in a cat fight. The speakers were only 12$ off! People are Crazy!

I think black Friday was a bad idea. I also think the all these people who go out and fight each other just for material items are crazy. I always wait till after the holidays when everything is cheaper to celebrate the actual holiday. It works out better that way.

I feel that black fridays should be done away with. I understand that the stores are doing it to bring in customers and make money, but I also feel that these sales can be done earlier in the month not just the day after thanksgiving. I mean their going to put the stuff on sale anyway so why not spread them out so you dont have all the craziness. Its better for both the customers and the employees who have to deal with it.

I agree with that... The mall I work for apparently opened at 8pm Thanksgiving Day and I know Walmart was bragging about opening at 6pm or something like that? So much for enjoying THANKSgiving... Seriously, I want my holiday back...

Like I was saying though, the stores at the mall had to open at 8 or midnight (we have special permission to ignore all holiday extended hours because our corporate office doesn't give us enough hours to fully staff as it is, let along be open longer).

I was talking to an old manager of mine that was running the Toys R Us Express that was put into the mall and she said it was dead at 8, no busier than any other Friday morning. It had gotten busier around midnight but then slacked off until around 6 or so. I guess mall management regret opening so early and is thinking of just starting Black Friday at 6am from now on. I wouldn't complain so much about that; people are able to enjoy the holiday and 6 isn't the hardest shift to get up for (unless you o.d. on turkey).

I agree 100% with you on this! It's so dumb to have it on one day a year when they could be pulling themselves out of debt earlier and for longer.

It wasnt as bad this year. I saw people camping out in front of the mall but not as many as last year. I think the cold temperatures had alot to do with it.

I love my friends and family but totally not enough to freeze to death for them.

Black Friday my husband and I wore tails around stores and the mall, it got a lot of attention like always but we haven't done it in a while and we got some new reactions out of people that day.

Well unfortunately a shop worker has been trampled to death, and this year did not a man shoot another in an argument in a car park? In ol' blighty, (u.k) it isn't as big, but unfortunately, the kings of reservation, stiffer upper lips and queuing, are embarrassing themselves and barging past O.A.Ps and pregnant women!
