I have a couple for varying reasons.

I really like to celebrate Christmas because I just LOVE Christmas music and I love decorating the house for Christmas. (Mostly the music lol). I

I also looove Halloween - it's just a really fun time of the year!

What is YOUR favorite Holiday to celebrate?

Hmm, this is a hard question for me, because as a Brit I don't celebrate Hallowe'en, and as an adult Easter is of no interest. I love the idea, I shall say the dream of Christmas, but the reality is cold grey rainy days and loads of expense. Not much of a lure there...

Those two things you mentioned fit in with the dream of Christmas; which is sparkly and coloured in red, gold and green.

My favourite holiday would be Eid-ul-fitr, since Christmas isn't celebrated much around here (but my, it's beautiful, from what I've seen in the television ) unless in the main districts, and we neither have Halloween nor Easter, or if there was, I haven't heard of it. Eid means pretty lights and lots of people + sweets And I love eating sweets

Christmas on television is beautiful, yes. The reality is often quite disappointing >< Films set in England always have it snowing on Christmas Day, Bridget Jones's Diary being a good case in point. The reality of a white Christmas here is very unlikely, which is why the bookmakers take bets on it every year. xD

Halloween used to be my favorite holiday, because costumes. :) I always pipedream about what costume I'm going to make and then never get around to doing it; after years and years of this, I've started to feel a bit grumpy about Halloween. (I gotta work on that--I'll make a costume this year for sure!)

At this point, I think Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Eating food together with friends and family is one of my absolute favorite things in life, so I think everybody needs a good harvest holiday! Of course the feasting is great, but it's also a great time for family without all the ruckus, hassel, and expense of Christmas.

I also really like 4th of July, but only when I'm in my hometown. My little town always has a fabulous street parade full of all sorts of wacky, fun entrants, showing a delightful cross-section of all the wacky people who live here. There's always a town party in the park afterwards, before everyone disperses to their house parties. Now to be clear, I don't care about the 4th for patriotic reasons; I like it because it's the friends-focused version of Thanksgiving--that is, it's a holiday for festing with loved ones, but with the emphasis on friends instead of family.

Now that I think about it, I don't celebrate that many holidays. Basically only Christmas, Easter, and Halloween, though it's not a big thing over here, and nowadays I don't even bother dressing up.
I used to love Christmas, but I don't really like it that much anymore. This has probably been caused by my moving to Australia, where, at Christmas time, it's around forty degrees outside. Also, the fact that when it's approaching the shops are always full of people. I don't like people. The best part about it probably would be the traditional Polish dinner I have with my family, though. It's pretty special.
Anyway, my favourite would have to be Easter, just because chocolate.

I absolutely adore Halloween. I love the colors and I'm a huge cat person so it just gives me an excuse to decorate with cats everywhere. Not to mention, I love dressing up! If I don't get to dress up, I love staying in and watching scary movies with the boyfriend. It's just a nice day to be super close to your friends or significant other.

I also really like the Forth of July (Independence Day). Eating outside and having a grand picnic. Fireworks and stories about our freedom. I also love going to battle reenactments or walking through parks that are decorated with thousands of American flags. I really love how the 4th of July brings my family together. I mean, we all show up since it's outside and we don't have to worry about indoor allergens. It's just really nice. And it's warm. Who doesn't love warm?

Definitely Christmas because I'm a big kid at heart and love all the tinsel and fairy lights and so on. We went back to Sky TV last autumn and I got completely hooked on the Christmas channel over the holidays. No matter how many cheesy made for TV movies they aired, I was always hungry for more! :)

I like Halloween too because it's a fun, over the top sort of holiday. I wish it was more of a big deal in the UK, like with house decorations, etc. The one thing I do like about the UK's celebration is that it's all about the scary and the spooky. When I see US Halloween celebrations on TV people are dressed up as princesses, and ballerinas, and other cutesy things. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but being a horror fan I like that we don't dilute the focus on the creepy side of things.

Any holiday that involves huge amounts of food! So I love Thanksgiving. Although I'm starting to become Meh to that too, only because dealing with family is becoming a strain. Trying to bite my tongue every holiday (or dinner) just because of their ignorance and refusal to see things any other way.

I particularly enjoyed [Chinese] New Year.
But Hallowe'en and Christmas aren't too bad, either.

In my family, it starts off with barszcz, a sour soup made out of beetroot. After that, we have fish, baked potatoes, and a salad of some sort - usually kapusta kiszona, whichi is a Polish variant of sauerkraut. For the fish, traditionally in Poland carp is eaten, but since in Australia it's impossible to find in shops, we usually eat fish fingers instead ^^' After that, there's pierogi with cabbage and mushrooms, which are a sort of Polish dumplings made out of boiled unleavened dough, stuffed with, well, stuffing obviously.

That's the main part of the dinner. After that, we have dessert, usually in the form of various home-made cakes, particularly makowiec, which is a black poppyseed roll, and babka, which is a kind of dry cake that can have many different variations, though we usually go for either plain or chocolate.

During the entire time, we drink home-made kompot, a warm drink that is made out by cooking fruit in water. My mum only ever makes it for Christmas, same with the cakes, so for me the smells associated with Christmas are pretty distinct.

I never thought I wouldn't be totally enthusiastic about all the holidays, but now I am. They are all just so much work and expense, it seems, for me. I think my favorite is Halloween, though. Less trouble and expense for the most fun and enjoyment. I decorate for it at my house - black skelly flamingos in the yard, a scarecrow waving hello at the front entranceway, some decorations on the table and in the living room, etc. I usually am busy making Halloween art for trades and things like that, so that is fun.

As I have mentioned in other threads, we moved from the middle of town to the far edge of town in the country. So we don't get any trick-or-treaters here, unfortunately. Since relatives are living in our house in town, I dress up and go there, taking extra candy, and set up a table and chair in their front yard and hand out candy there to trick-or-treaters. When we moved, I gave them all of our outdoor Halloween decorations, so they use those in the yard too. We had over 200 trick-or-treaters in last year.

People in our town are really cool about Halloween. Some families decorate and pull lighted trailers around town, loaded down with kids and parents. Others get little four-wheeler brigades of friends and relaitives organized to go around together. Even many of the adults dress up too. It's really fun to see.

When we lived there, I also constructed three or four scarecrow scenes all around the yard. We lived on the corner, so could decorate two sides of the house. I would have a couple of scarecrows sitting on hay bales with a checkerboard between them, playing checkers...one scarecrow posed pushing an old rusty lawnmower, while another was hoeing a flowerbed. And I found an old-fashioned, super rusty bike, so had one posed riding the bike with an small one perched in the basket on the handlebars. I would do this at the first of October, and keep them up until after Halloween. I really enjoyed it at the time.

In theory, Halloween is. I'm super into Halloween, but it's really only fun if you have something to do. And I never do. If I had some parties to go to, I'd be so stoked.

So Christmas is my favorite to celebrate. I love seeing my family.

Wow, two hundred trick-or-treaters? That's a lot. My house is lucky to get five groups, and one year we didn't get any at all (which I didn't mind - more candy for me!) But yeah, Halloween isn't celebrated that much over here, so I guess that's why.

Christmas by a long way! I love the food, the music, the dark nights. My opinion might be different if Halloween was actually a big thing here, but it's not, so i've never really bothered with it, and not coming from a very religious family Easter is also a bit lost on me. I do love the time of year though, so it comes in close second on my list of favourites.

Christmas and Thanksgiving for sure.
Thanksgiving is when the most family gathers, I LOVE turkey dinner and my birthday is right after.
Christmas is just wonderful all December long; the decorations, the music, the TV specials and though it may be superficial who doesn't love the presents? My best friend's family church also does a lovely service which I attend with them every year though I am barely religious.

Sadly adulthood had robbed my Halloween Spirit, too old to trick or treat I have nothing about the holiday to look forward to. The Halloween spirit is quite dead in my whole area compared to what it was in my childhood. There are fewer trick or treaters and fewer houses that give out. A few years ago I noticed one of the best houses near where my grandparents lived was not participating. They had a gimmick they were very well known for. Even my group of friends don't have the little parties we used to when we have them at all. The few we have contain less activities and we don't even dress up (except a couple of years ago, my best friend did one almost like the ones we used to do in high school). Even giving out candy is no fun in this apartment, it's mostly toddlers we get which I'd forgotten so my werewolf mask backfired last year having frightened a few of them. Also it's hard to see through that thing so I accidentally stole a piece of some little boy's candy that had dropped thinking I'd dropped it. It went unnoticed or at least unacknowledged. Maybe it'll be better this year. We're moving to my grandparent's place (which they've now vacated, grandma passed a few years ago and grandpa is in a home) in June.

I've also more than outgrown Easter's rabbits and eggs representation. In adulthood it becomes about it's true meaning, the resurrection of Christ and as I've mentioned I'm barely religious. I used to attend easter service with my best friend's family but it's become impossible now with my best friend's constantly being away either for school or Americorp or something else.
