How do you relax?
I've come to the realization that I need to learn how to relax. Some of you know that I'm a bit insane with the work load that I take on. I keep getting sick and my back is a mess of knots. So I need to learn how to relax.
Right now - relaxing for me is reading. But that's about all I do to relax. What are ways you relax? I want some ideas :P |
There's this small, typically empty park near to where I live, and whenever I need to relax and the weather isn't horrible, I walk over there. I go on the swings, listening to music, and read, or even write in my journals. It's a spot that feels as if it belongs to me, and it really calms me a lot.

Oh wow, Aganab, that sounds amazing and I'm so jealous! There's no parkland in this town :(
Maria trying yoga or pilates? Gentle stretching stuff that would be good for your back? I used to do this free pilates dvd that I got in a magazine, just before bed. I found it really helped to clear my mind and calm me. |
I like reading too, though it can give me nasty headaches :D
I log on to mene, or go browse internet. For me it is relaxing, but still, it gives me nasty headaches too >.< |
listening to music
|
My relaxing is reading, music and mene. All this usually involves me barricading myself in my room. Also, I do a bit of silent sitting or meditation... whatever you want to call it. Just put your head on a desk, close your eyes and think of nothing. Just focus on the colours that you see, it's quite effective [yes]

I'll listen to music,read a book,play video game,watch youtube video are take a nap
|
Reading is a big part of my relaxation process too. Climb into bed, grab a book, and I can finally feel my body wind down at the end of the day.
And I'm one of those freaks who exercises in order to relax, too. Running can be a very calming activity! It's repetitive, gives your mind some time to process the day and burns off all of your body's excess energy. Stretching, yoga or foam rolling at the end is also a nice way of massaging your muscles and physically calming down. [yes] |
I started doing yoga, which is kind of nice and relaxing. Occasionally I'll just stretch and read a few pages of a book or re-watch one of my favourite movies.
|
I like to read a good book or manga while listening to music...or laugh at random funny clips on youtube.
|
I don't really enjoy most types of exercise, but I agree that it can be very calming, especially that feeling you get after exercising.
|
Naps on the couch when it's bright and sunny outside are calming for me.
I don't have too much stress in my life though so there's not really a lot I do or know about relaxing. xP Laying outside under a tree or umbrella seems relaxing, but it's pretty busy and noisy in my backyard so there's not much relaxing to be had there. |
Walking, cleaning the house and arranging my books etc, yoga, meditating, making collages, laying on my bed listening to soft quiet music which usually turns into napping, hehe. It's also relaxing to go to a friend's house, but the kind of friend you can comfortably share a silence with. Cooking something simple and then eating it while watching something nice (Bob's Burgers is my favorite easy viewing show right now). These come to mind atm, hope you find your way to relax :)

if i have photos that don't have a deadline, it's pretty relaxing to go through them, sort them, delete bad ones (if im working with digital), do a little editing and so on.
if you are a creative person, i find that doing stuff with your hands can be relaxing! |
I usually read, play games, draw, crochet, etc. It often depends on what I am in the mood for, but I have trouble just sitting there and doing nothing, so I get bored easily unless I have something to do.
|
I usually draw or watch movies from my childhood like "The Little Mermaid" and the like. Or sometimes I just watch "epic fail" videos on youtube.
