I worked with them and beside them. I had constant contact with them and generally got to know them for three years.

The fish emote was just funny.

I wish I could answer that, I really do. I can safely say that things between us did not end well and they have left the most sour taste imaginable. Under no circumstances do I suggest anyone have anything to do with Gaia. I have no trust in anyone there and they know what they did.

User vs employee/mod experiences vary, so you may see some responses in this thread reflecting that.

Oh? You have rats in real life? That's really cool! One of my good friends from high school had a rat for a while. Sad story actually - the rat was a feeder rat for her snake. But she opened up the box with the "dead" rat to give it to her snake and it was alive. D: (I guess they didn't kill it when they meant to before putting it in the box). Anyway - the snake was SCARED of the live rat. So she kept it....and it turned out to be a super sweet and loving rat!!

Aww - I'm glad I was able to give opinions :) Even if we never see eye to eye, we had a nice discussion at least :D

Lots of people are afraid of rats, huh… but I think rats and mice can be cute.
My ex-boyfriend was afraid of my hamsters and ran away when I wanted to
take them out of their cage. This is so off-topic, I apologize.

I left before most of what more recent users experienced, even left Mene briefly. I have never seen anything close to what is being described happen on Mene. That was a selling point for me to not only return, but have one of my kids join.

I'm not one of the judgemental rat owners lol my boyfriend's older sister is a scientist and rescued a few ratties from being killed when they got old and we had them at home until they died naturally. Rats are super sweet and caring pets.

I just wanted to put my opinion out there that every site has it's bad points but it's not all bad and I don't see them going out of business anytime soon

This is my main complaint too.
If I ever say anything against gaia, I'm just bitter
and disappointed in the moneygrabbing direction it's been taking,
especially since they've been releasing gold generators and
hurting their economy.

I loved gaia soooo much and my heart hurts seeing what's been
happening lately, I guess. More than anything, I wish I could help
it improve, but it doesn't seem like they're listening to the overwhelming
amount of users that they've been upsetting.

You're one of the few whose only issue are the RIGs. xD; To each his own I guess.

For me it's the poor treatment of the community, down to straight up ignoring them and a refusal to admit when they are wrong and booooy do they have a lot of wrong to fess up to. However, instead it just ends up with a lot of hole digging.

Absolutely love when they started to mass wipe old Staff posts to try and avoid having their words come back and bite them in the ass. Was the last thing I saw before I got belted across the face and thrown out the door. Was none too pleased.

As a note, as an unpaid volunteer there are no laws stopping unfair removal. So I've got to live with it, even if it's the most infuriating thing I've ever had to deal with. Although after that I don't even want to go back, don't even have an account any more. Had it closed and basically burned the city with the bridge.

I don't think we've ever had issues personally, nor do I think we've ever had any dealings. So don't take this to heart, its not aimed at you. You seem to have a fairly good sense of morals even if your view of gaian staff in general isn't one I can share.

But to some extent, this has always been a problem with gaian staff. Granted not all of them, but even back in the beginnings of gaia this was there problem. They made some poor choices even early on, and wouldn't listen to those who tried to help them with constructive criticism. Its gotten much much much worse in the recent scheme of things, but its just an amplified version of whats already there.

When a developer comes into a thread and says, "We don't care, stop wasting your breath" you know nobody cares. (I wanna say this was back in....08-09 maybe...time line gets muddled. Its when the anniversary sashes came out)

Gaia has a few thousand...maybe million?...maybe billion?... items and they can't test every possible combo.

Unless an item is intentionally designed (Alruna anyone?) in a suggestive way then it isn't supposed to be used that way.

More often than not you'll only get a light tap on the shoulder, if even, requesting that you change your avatar up to something appropriate. You'll only ever get banned if you've ignored multiple requests for an avatar change and/or change back after having your avatar force changed after x number of times. Even then the ban isn't going to be more than 3 days at most. Although if you keep it up after that it'll just keep escalating.

In three years I don't think I had ever actually seen anyone go so far up as to get a full fledged ban. Most people tend to listen after the first noticed. A lot of them do care, I will say that much. It's those who actually have any form of power to make things happen that show such a flagrant disregard for the userbase. The ones who make the decisions and control the site.

I'm still in contact with a fair number of the staff members, Artists and a couple of Devs. I consider them to be good friends and we still hang out and do things.

It's just those guys are hid into a corner and forced into silence.

The Admin in specific should under no circumstances be trusted. I can not emphasize this enough, do not trust them.

I know this has always been an issue with them, but there is something special about this batch. All of the others showed some care for the community, this batch shows a very inherit lack of interest in the communities well being. Something I had a very hard time dealing with and working with. For me I had to put the community above Gaia's needs and my own. They are the blood that fills Gaia's veins. More often than not though I was reminded that I worked for Gaia, that wasn't what it was like when I started to work with them in 2010.

Oh god, the hot dog. xD I hated that item so god damn much, worst idea ever. They shouldn't make it so you can't face backwards, they need to just remove that item altogether...or at least make it less like a penis.
