I went to school will a Silvertips player... but that's about as close as I've gotten to hockey.

I like the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks. I live in Blues Country.
I'm waiting for Toronto to get awesome again and I like the Canucks.

I've been rooting for the 'Red Guys' ever since I realized my brother hated them. The kid's got a giant blue note on his chest and he's basically cussing the TV. His little sister strolls in and starts rooting for the other team. They were winning. I know he likes the 'Blue Guys' and he's mad at the 'Red Guys' so I'm SOLD on the Wings.

Flash forward and some guy walks into a gas station I work at - wearing a Wings hat. He likes hard rock and heavy metal. Ten years later I'm still with that guy and he still has the hat. We got it autographed by several players at training camp in Traverse City. (we've only been once but would love to go again.)

oooh hockeh! yes! arizona coyotes and the buffalo sabres are my nhl team of choice, yes the portland pirates, the affiliate to the arizona coyotes are my favorite ahl team... also they are here in the city i live in soooo yea, i'm a bit biased

love of hockey. yes. i'm going down to orlando in january to watch the ECHL all star game. My home town team plays in that league. I'm probably the only person who goes to Orlando just to watch a single hockey game.

I grew up in Alaska watching the Aces. Now I'm in Cincinnati and my home team is the Cyclones. Things were going just fine until they played each other for the league championship. I couldn't decide which jersey to wear to the games.

I forgive you, Javarebel. Also do not know what that means. PSTH? Only thing I can think of is PTSD and there's a healthy amount of ribbing to be made, lots of bad jokes in that but since I really want to know what you mean I'll keep quiet. For now. Hockey fans gotta talk smack sometimes but we can take it because we're hockey fans.

I knew if we started listing teams it was either gonna be OMG you like them too or HOW DARE YOU but at least we agree the sport, the art, of hockey is a beautiful thing.

PSTH: partial season ticket holder. i live in cincinnati, not columbus, but i drive up there ten times a year to watch blue jackets home games. this year it comes with a bonus...first dibs on tickets to the all star game.

Haha all clear now. That is awesome. You probably get to more games a season than I have been to. Or close to it.

Imean I think I have been to ten games total. We did go to Wings training camp one year as mentioned earlier but we don't get out a lot.

blue jackets!? you got our goalie curtis mclehinney! he's a pretty cool guy!

for the echl it's gotta be the gwinnett gladiators! they have some of my guys who used to be in the ahl up here.

oh and i'm a portland pirate's full season ticket holder for about three (or is it four??) years running now. i am new to the sport of hockey and just started about six years ago now, if you count this season too i mean

Haha this thread could get crazy if we keep it going through the season and into playoffs. We could be screaming at each other and being the best of friends. Non- Hockey people won' t understand.

i think we should totally keep this going through hockey season! maybe get more hockey fans in here also, hockey starts in just over a month sooooo i say let us do it!

well alright, i'm up for that. especially with the metro division rivalry we already have going on here. someone spoke up for the sabres and detroit in the atlantic and the phoe....err....ARIZONA coyotes in the pacific. and blues covers the central (though I've been following the new Jets...but let's be frank, they're not on the same level as the blues). So yes, this thread COULD be interesting. Maybe hockey will be its own forum category if we keep up the momentum.

let's keep this going though...can you share some memories of your first hockey game?

i'm not sure a forum would happen there aren't many avid hockey fans around these parts
but my first hockey game was actually back in high school oh so many years ago, the late 90's, and i went with a girl on my soccer team. we sat behind the goalie. i couldn't tell ya who was playing or who won, but i was happy i went and sad that i didn't live closer so i could go more often.
the first game that i can actually say was my gateway game was about the end of the 2008-09 season i think. it was the portland pirates vs. the bridgeport sound tigers and that's where i saw matt martin (now #27 for the new york islanders) be super nice to a couple of the kids there. he was the away team, he didn't have to be as nice as he was. so, um, he caught me starting and smiling at him he smiled and turned back to the game. he's a pretty physical player and after watching him i was hooked. i was out of college a couple years, went to a game with my dad, step mom and little sister and living in portland. i saw a friend i hadn't seen in a while there. we reconnected and stared going to more and more games and since i lived in the city it was easy to go to a lot.

on a side note, i like when arizona was phoenix. it just sounded better

I have a Maple Leafs keychain. but just because I had a Canadian boyfriend at the time who insisted on getting it for me when my other keychain broke when I was up visiting him.

I watched a minor league game at Charlotte. It was quite interesting, especially when they fought. It kind of looked encouraged.

charlotte? checkers? one of my favorite guys signed a contract there this year. i'm going to miss him soooo much
