I have worn glasses since I was seven. I use to love them but now, I really hate them. Not for how they look on me, but for the problems it causes me. When I have my hair down[which is long] I get hair stuck in them so when i take my glasses off, they pull my hair and that really hurts. I also have very long eyelashes. So sometimes my eyelashes will press against the lens[even if I use my eyelash curler] and the loose ones get stuck in my eye and create an infection. I get a lot of allergies/problems with my eyes for some reason. And the other reason i hate wearing glasses is I have to clean my glasses...every...5...seconds. [stare] And I hate to wear them is people call me a geek or a dork just because I wear glasses. e.e And lastly, You can't see when I wear makeup like eyeliner or eyeshadow. And that to me is really annoying. >.> Not to mention if you wear mascara and you take your glasses off to see you have mascara on it. >__< Or foundation etc. I got foundation on mine but it is hardly noticeable unless I take them off and see the white part of them which is on the nose part of them [rofl] So I just don't wear makeup anymore because it's not like anyone will see it since my glasses are black and i usually use to wear black eyeliner[not that much also]. |
I can't wear my glasses where the eyeglass people want me to because my eyelashes get stuck on them and I can't open my eyes!

My glasses don't even have to be up close for it to be able for my eyelashes to get stuck in my eye. Though when I get new glasses, I am going to get bigger frames. I think bigger frames would be better for me. |

Oh, Jelly. As a wearer of contacts and glasses I get the joys of losing both. I'm pretty disgusted when a contact touches the ground, though, so if they're anywhere near close to old enough to throw away I just get a new pair. XP

I often forget that I have my glasses on (or off). I'll lay down to go to bed and realize I still have them on. Or sometimes I'll go to take them off without realizing I already did. XD

Oh gosh I hate that phantom glasses feeling. so trippy when you go to take them off and nothing is there.
|
Yeah, it's super weird! Thankfully that doesn't happen to me very often...

I used to be rather indifferent about the care and feeding of my glasses since I only need them for reading or looking at anything up close. It's gotten much worse the closer I get to 50, but I'm glad I don't need them all of the time. The case the optician sent home started falling apart, so I'm looking for a new case. Finding myself being a bit more gentle with this pair since my non-prescription readers are not as effective.

Yeah I've gotten rid of it too by setting up a routine before bed.
oh Elmira is part of the glasses club? awesome! |
The contacts I had were rigid ones, so I had to find the one that had gone on the floor as I only had the one pair, it took me 45 minutes to find it and I was in a massive panic about kneeling on it and breaking it. [gonk]

Aw man, that sucks. I have had similar experiences where my contact popped out in a public bathroom or something and I needed to find it or drive home half blind. XP Or when they're my last pair and if I don't find it I won't have contacts for a couple weeks.
Overall...contacts just be a pain. XP |
They are, looking back, I'm not sure why I ever bothered with them, I much prefer glasses.

Okay, as a wearer of glasses nearly my entire life, I can tell you I can be a bit lackadasical about their care. Then again when I'm not wearing them I'm in bed, they don't tend to get too rough and tumbled around. Though I have a very hilarious story for ya'll if you'll indugle me.
I have a queen sized mattress that sits on a box that opens for storage. The only draw back is the gap between the wall and the box of about two inches. I have the bad habit of knocking my glasses on the floor when I sleep, since I tend to trash about sometimes. Yep, you guessed it. The darned things fell under the bed. Here I am blind as a bat, pulling EVERYTHING from under my bed (which is mostly Christmas decorations and old text books--you know the stuff you need to keep but don't really have space for) and then crawling into the small space (about 1.5 foot tall) to feel around for my glasses hoping I don't kick the stick propping the bed up and getting stuck under the bed. The funny thing is, I really wish I could tell you it's only happened one time. |
