Cranberry sauce. some people love it some people hate it some people can take or leave it. But if you do like it which do you rather? Canned or homemade? Me? I like it canned? Don't go bringing any fancy homemade kind in my house we like it cheap lol

I like it and I prefer canned to most homemade versions. One of my friends does make a pretty awesome one though. Hers is the only one I'd choose over canned.

You know I don't think I've ever had homemade cranberry sauce. Apple sauce and Saskatoon berry Jams yes, but not cranberry.

I love the perfect rings of the jellied cranberry sauce on a serving dish. Its so festive. And its just about the only kibpnd of jelly people still look forward to and is socially acceptable.
Cranberry sauce is easy enough to make. Throw a bag worth of cranberries in a pot, put in half as much water or applejuice, lemon or orange. A splash of gingerale if you are adventurous, and about a cup of sugar to every two cups of berries. Boil until the cranberry skins pop, then chill.
Delicious.
I still like the canned stuff better.

I don't think my family has ever had cranberry sauce of any kind at thanksgiving that I can remember. About the only way I've ever eaten cranberries is in cranberry orange bread and the occasional cookie.

My mom likes cranberry sauce, but she likes the canned, jellied kind that comes out in the shape of a can. Lol.
I don't like it, myself. I don't really like cranberries except in juice.

Dried cranberries in cookies are delicious. Take a basic chocolate chip cookie recipe and swap out the regular chocolate chips for white chocolate, add in slivered almonds and dried cranberries. Delicious.
Got some groceries yesterday. Picked up a package of English muffins that had cranberries in them, thought they looked good. They are.

I have to go with the can version, i love slicing up that perfect circular ring and cutting my piece up like a tiny piece of pie!!
cranberries taste delicious in cookies and cupcakes and pies and on oatmeal, but give me the canned one for my holiday dinners every time!!

I don't mind the canned one in the shape of a can. But it's bland in my opinion.
I make homemade cranberry sauce every year. It has cinnamon and orange juice and both regular white and dark brown sugars in it. It's really good. It's easy to make. I just put everything in the crock pot and check it every hour for 3hr.
My finance used to hate cranberry sauce until he tried mine. ^^
omg I want the holiday english muffins with the cranberries in it!!! I'm obsessed with them. I wish I could go to Starbucks and get the cranberry bliss bar too.

I definitely prefer canned, but only the jellied kind. I hate having WHOLE BERRIES in my cranberry sauce. Yuck.

Canned for 99% of the time.
My family once tried making it from scratch (orange cranberry sauce with some sort of liqueur that I can't remember) and it was absolutely delicious... but the texture is definitely a lot lumpier, seedy, and fibrous. It wasn't a texture that was appetizing in large quantities or with mouthfuls of turkey.
There's just something about the canned version that is like a jello dessert... almost. Sorta.

I rather make my own cranberry sauce <3

Did they not strain the juice to get rid of the seeds? That's probably why it was like that.

It's demon sauce. That's not how sauce works. I never saw cranberry sauce, and then I saw it one time on a can, and I was like, "THAT IS NOT SAUCE. THAT IS A SLIMY LOAF!" Cranberry loaf. That's what it is. CRANBERRY LOAF!

You can also make your own jellied kind. make it yourself and just blend it all together and the pectin from the cranberries will make it do the gel thing.
Get a can of soup and rinse it out and you can also make it can formed :D
I think the cranberry bag goes over that.

Neither, actually, and I've tried both. If I had to eat it I'd go for the homemade stuff, but it's really not a big thing with my family. I think maybe two people out of my entire family will eat the stuff, so no one really makes or buys it unless one of those two are going to be there during a family function.

I love cranberry sauce. I'm not even entirely sure what cranberries are like when not in sauce, but they are probably fabulous, haha. I've never actually had any kind of homemade cranberry sauce, so I'll have to pick canned for this. That and I probably would anyway, just because I spend two thirds of my time with cranberry sauce playing with the ring marks on the side before and while eating it. I love the rings so much... ^^"
