Fork, Spork, Spoon, Chopsticks, Hands!? :D
What is your utensil of choice?
I prefer using a spoon really. Just simpler. I guess. [lol]
Really depends on what I'm eating. Asian food I typically prefer chopsticks, but they are also my utensil of choice most of the time. They're just so much more natural feeling than a big metal fork.
I'm Indian, and I eat with my hands.
Once my grandfather was having lunch with some foreign dude who was like 'How can you eat with your hands, it's so dirty' He replied that the cleanliness of his own hands was in his own hands. If he ate with some cutlery he'd have to trust in how clean it was but he wouldn't know. So really eating with one's hands is hygienic and safe. |
Siren - Plus eating with one's hands is pretty fun. I've only gotten to do it a few times but as messy as it is, boy does it make a meal enjoyable :D
Poet- It sure does [squee] and I like feeling the texture of the food while I eat too. It's easy to pick out stuff I want to avoid, like chilies and onion, and little stones that creep in.
I've added chopsticks and hands to the title, haha ^_^ Not sure how to edit the poll, though
I prefer chopsticks, but I usually end up using a fork or my hands because not much of what I eat is particularly chopstick friendly. Like, meat pies or roast vegetables [lol]
Well, I use them all depending on the food. But gotta love an opportunity to eat rice or noodles with chopsticks. Sporks are part of the taco treat.
Right now, I usually use a fork to eat my lunch and dinner, and my hands to eat my breakfast (which is usually a granola bar or something that is portable). Before, I usually used a spoon to eat my lunch and dinner, as well as my breakfast if it was cereal or my hands if it was a pastry or something.
I usually use a spoon for mostly everything I eat.
But to me, each utensil is reserved for certain kinds of food. Forks are reserved for long pasta noodles, spoons are reserved for rice, quinoa, Mac and cheese and soup, I don't use sporks, chopsticks are purely for chunks of food like tofu, or noodles like pho, and hands are for tacos, pizza, cake, cookies. Yep. |
Oohh you usually eat cake with your hands? I usually eat cake with a fork!
I usually prefer a fork, and I have to have the small forks out of the silverware. I hate big clunky silverware.
But I also really love chopsticks. Still certain foods need certain utensils to me. Like I can't eat ice cream with a fork, or cake with a spoon. |
Ava - I find that interesting as well. Cake with hands. How do you do it?
It's actually pretty easy. Just cut a piece of cake with a knife, then pick it up by the sides and eat it. It's much easier with middle pieces than it is with side pieces.
I don't know why I eat cake with my hands... I just feel like I can get a bigger bite when I eat it with my hands and I've been eating it that way since... middle school, maybe. |
But don't you get a ton of frosting all over your hands?
As for big bites... I tend to inhale my cake so I don't have to worry about that part... |
It really depends on the food I'm eating and the circumstances I find myself in when eating said food. I generally like using chopsticks or a spoon. But if I'm out and about and see a food truck selling foods that are best eaten with hands and there's no seating or tables then I'd happily do that too.
Like people have said, it depends on the food I'm eating. I'm becoming increasingly fond of chopsticks though. I've started using them for some non-traditional things, like popcorn, or my breakfast sausages. [lol]
I eat popcorn like a frog [ninja] there is no need for even hands
I use chopsticks for eating potato and corn chips, don't get salty flavorings on the fingers that way [yes]
I like eating pop corn with a spoon though....[ninja] |
Chopsticks are great for keeping your fingers clean when eating snacks. [sup] Also they slow me down a little when I'm eating popcorn, because normally I voraciously shovel that stuff into my face with my hands.
Maybe it's a good strategy for people trying not to eat too much popcorn? :D
Chopsticks. My boyfriend didn't believe me when I told him I use it to eat pizza. His step-brother was amazed I did, even though he is half asian himself. lol
How do you eat pizza with chopsticks exactly? I'm picturing holding the crust on one hand and the chopsticks holding the greasy end.
I like so use a spoon even with dishes a lot of people use a fork with. You can generally scoop whatever you could stab, but you get all the sauce too.
