Do you wear Glasses / Contacts?

Do you wear glasses or contacts?
At what age did you start wearing them?
Have you ever had LASIK (laser eye surgery) to correct your vision?
If so, how was your experience?
If not, would you consider it in the future?
Also, I heard about corrective lenses that you can wear to somehow correct your vision? Has anyone tried those?

I wear glasses and have worn them since I was little, probably about 5 or 6.

I have astigmatism as well as Fuch's distrophy which causes small bubbles on my cornea and also gives me bad dry eye. So contacts are out of the question.

I don't really mind wearing glasses so I've not considered getting LASIK. But if the distrophy gets worse once I'm middle aged, I might consider it. Right now my vision is just a little blurry when I'm not wearing my glasses.

I have glasses, have had them since I was 20, just over a year now. My vision is actually good without them, but my brain doesn't know how to filter the information and it causes me headaches for miles. So my glasses do the filtering for me.

I ware glasses since the 10th grade. had trouble seeing the screen in class even if I sat in the front row. can't see all that far away without my glasses on. heck even if I sit by my computer my eye blur without them on.

I've worn glasses since I was, I dunno... eight? I can't really remember. But somewhere in there.

hanahaki disease 03-03-2016 01:13 PM

I've worn glasses since I was nine. My power began at -2 and it's between -6 and -7 now, which is terrible.
I've heard of those lenses but apparently if you wear them at night your corrected sight is limited to the next day. They just kind of work on the shape of your natural lens, or something. After a while your natural lens pops back to its previous shape.
I've learnt yoga for my eyes. My brother's power went down by a whole point after a week of practice. Unfortunately I haven't been finding the time but I intend to make it a part of my routine once school ends.

I wield the glasses. No lasix here. I'll pass on having a laser shot into my eye.

CONTACTS SCARE ME TO DEATH AND SO DOES THE LASER EYE THING.

Ava The Vampire 03-11-2016 06:37 PM

I have been wearing glasses since middle school. I have been wearing contacts since my sophomore year in high school.
I love contacts better than glasses. My glasses get really dirty really quickly and they scratch really easily. Contacts are better.
That and I can change my eye color with contacts!!! :D

I have glasses and wear them only as necessary, like to read faraway things and whatnot. I have myopia, which is basically near-sightedness. It's partly because of genetics (i.e. if your parents wear glasses) and also because I did so much reading and whatnot as a kid with the book too close to my face. My left eye used to be a lot a lot worse than my right eye, but now they are becoming a little more even. And I also have a slight degree of astigmatism on top of that. So I have glasses, although I usually don't wear them. And I also have contact lenses but I never learned to put them in so I haven't tried those yet (I got them recently)

I had my first pair of glasses when i was about 7, but they were only for long distance reading. I started wearing them full time when i was 15. I have a huge dislike of anything going near, or to do with eyes in general so the thought of contacts or laser eye surgery is a mild nightmare for me.

salvete 03-12-2016 07:33 PM

I would like to have laser eye surgery someday because it will make life much easier for me if successful.

Clair Voyant 03-12-2016 07:49 PM

Glasses. I've worn them since high school. I've considered contacts, but not seriously.
I'm so used to my glasses my face looks naked without them. [lol]

And Manny, my partner, adores them. He finds them extremely sexy, so I haven't wanted to lose them. [lol]

salvete 03-12-2016 11:42 PM

Haha I remember your mentioning that, Clair Voyant <3

I guess I am the opposite since I'm so used to seeing my face with glasses. I think I look better without them, haha. But I don't mind wearing them either. But very few pictures exist in which I am wearing my glasses

I knew someone who had the surgery and she said it was good, but the thing about it is, that the effects can wear off after a few years. Isn't that weird? So if you get the laser eye surgery, the effects could wear off and you'd have to go back to glasses.

pepperp0ts 03-20-2016 02:10 PM

Yes, and I wear both!
I started at 9, I guess.
LASIK. Not yet but soon I hope. [eager]

Nanie 03-20-2016 07:19 PM

I should wear glasses, but unfortunately I only can bring myself to when I'm playing console games and can't see well enough to aim. I've been wanting to get contacts because I think not feeling like my spectacles were interfering with my makeup and fashion (vain, I know) would result in me wanting to wear them more. I'm very very near sighted and the only real problems it's caused (besides being bad at console gaming) has been making it hard for me to drive without GPS because I can't read street signs until it's too late, hahaha.

I can't afford lasik but my vision isn't really bad enough to warrant giant lasers anyway.

Cardinal Biggles 03-20-2016 09:23 PM

I do. Recently (read: 5 months ago) got a new pair:

Oh wow, I didn't know that. I guess your eyes would indeed get worse if you don't take care of them after the surgery? I would have to look into that

Ava The Vampire 03-22-2016 05:27 PM

Yeah, definitely look into it, salvete.

I don't know why sometimes the eyes revert back to their original prescription after the surgery. I guess it has to do with how bad your eyes are before you do it? I dunno.

salvete 03-22-2016 06:33 PM

My great grandmother got lasik done with no complications back in the day, but I think she was one of the lucky ones

lightkanna 04-06-2016 08:58 AM

I wear glasses but I need to renew them because my eyesights are 100% worse than they are now. I got these glasses since I was 18 and I'm 23. I definitely need to upgrade but I will later.

TheEmpressofEvil 04-06-2016 02:45 PM

I wear glasses. I actually need to go for my yearly exam. I just always hate doing it. There's only the one test I don't like though. It blows air into your eye to test for glaucoma. That one test is always why I hesitate going, it just unnerves me that much.

I've worn contacts for all of 2 months, the 2 months prior to my wedding and I stopped right after the honeymoon was over. I likes them, they just don't work for me for the amount of time I need to wear them. My workdays are 10 hours plus commute time. My eyes could handle then for maybe 8-10 hours (using drops). Longer than that and it was just really painful. I tried different drops, but I gave up. I would have liked to have kept them though.

The Wandering Poet 04-06-2016 03:40 PM

I agree so much Empress, that air blow, 5 seconds of discomfort [lol] and that's why I hesitate as well.

Is that why they do that!? Holy hell I never knew that. I also googled what it is. Is it bad if I say I have some of those symptoms. I do get disturbances of visual... I'm not sure if I'm psyching myself out or what. [gonk]
