Your first car!
When did you get or buy your first car?
Or if you don't have a car, how do you get around? Do you drive or have your license yet? |
I got my first car 6 years old. A Honda fit. Before that I drove my folks old cars, bummed a ride, or rode my bike. I really love the hatchback. It makes a great grocery shopping car.

Dazzlingdreamberry, I initially read that as "I got my first car at 6 years old" and was so confused, haha ^_^ <3

Bought my first car 3 years ago or so from my grandfather My grandmother's old car before she passed away. It is the most scratched up dodge intrepid you will ever see. We question if she should have been driving at her age.

By the time I learn to drive my first car will probably hover [lol]
I've been on my learner's permit for nearly seven years. |
I got my license at 21 or 22 I think. I was trying to get it earlier than that, but my mom was really weird and overprotective and didn't want me to drive because she didn't her license until 30. So I ended up just scheduling my test. WELP TOO BAD. In the end she was probably glad I could drive because her health declined and my dad was at work all day, so she needed someone to take her places or get food.
My first car was a beater. XD It was some 1987 gold boxy shaped car. I drove it to work and I went to a few conventions and stuff with it. But it had really low mileage because an old couple used it to get around previously. But then my dad sold it to someone who was driving it like crazy and it caught on fire. :( Now I have a cute green Mazda 2. We got it new, but we've had it for 5 years and neither of us want to trade it in for something newer because we're attached to it (and they no longer make it in that color anymore ;A;) |
Wow... you have to drive a car pretty badly to catch it on fire. Was he taking it off jumps or something?

My first car was a gift from my father...a 1976 Ford Pinto.
I was a teenaged mother and I just about drove the wheels off that car! I have owned several cars since that Pinto bit the dust...but, my favorite was a 1979 Mercury Zephyr Station Wagon with a manual transmission in it...that was the perfect car-camping car! That car got its last hurrah when the BF drove it in a Demolition Derby! Now, we are driving a Ford Focus that doesn't like to shift into first gear....making it more frustrating than enjoyable to drive...but, hopefully soon, the BF will get my mini van fixed and I'll be a happy camper once again! |
I still don't consider myself as having gotten my first car because in high school my parents got me a Jetta. Poor Jetta was totaled while my dad was driving it. They weren't able to replace it and neither was I at the time. Insurance money went instead towards covering other expenses. All that stuffs. So I ended up driving my mom's Toyota Venza or my dad's Toyota Camry to school and work for years. I almost bought a car after graduating but the way things worked out I didn't need to since I worked from home. Later I got married and my husband had a car so we are now a 1 car family. That might change soon, but who knows. I get to Vanpool to work in a company vehicle so it's not exactly necessary to have two cars. If we had kids, I'd think differently because both of us would need to be instantly mobile in the event of an emergency. More than likely it will take his Toyota Corolla's death or us having children before we get a car. My first car is likely to be a minivan since we're looking into adopting, and especially adopting siblings.
