What's your favorite kind of cake?

What is your favorite kind of cake?

I love ice cream cake from Carvel <3 the kind that has vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream, and oreo cookie crumbs in the middle, plus icing <3 And I love cheesecake and chocolate lava cake and white / vanilla cake!

I also love flan and chestnut cake. Red velvet cake is great, but I prefer it without the cream cheese icing and with vanilla ice cream instead. Tres leches is yummy too, but it is a bit sweet for me so I only eat it in small amounts.

And I am sure there are many other cakes out there that I like or love, but I can't remember them off the top of my head right now.

I love marble cake. <3
It's always been my favorite. Plain vanilla cake is too bland, chocolate cake is too rich, but marble is the perfect inbetween. :D

Flan and chestnut cake sounds amazing!

Wow, I've never had that before! But I do love applesauce, cake, raisins, and walnuts separately, so... It sounds yummy!

Cheese cake [drool][drool]

I don't get it very often though. We get paid this week at work. I might pick up a cheese cake pan and try and make one.

I, too, enjoy a quality cheesecake the most when available.

As for regular cake, I find that if it is made with apple sauce and baked in a convection oven it turns out to be nothing short of suberb. But, I find that most cakes are made a bit dry and so I am persuaded to remain mostly faithful to pie.

My favorite pie used to be apple, but folks just don't make apple pie like past generations of mothers and grandmothers used to. Nowadays I go for strawberry-rhubard whenever possible.
A family friend was going to make a strawberry-rhubarb pie once, but lacked strawberries. Blueberries were available and so a blueberry-rhubarb pie was made and that may have been the best pie I ever had the pleasure of digesting.

Oh! Blueberry Rhubarb pie sounds DIVINE!

The recipe I have for applesauce cake is in an ancient Crisco cookbook that my grandma used...
There are pencil marks indicating the amounts needed when doubling the recipe to fill an oblong cake pan.
The cake is moist and slightly spicy...it is soooo YUM!

7up cake is so yummy. Especially, with coffee. ^.^
Would have to say that is my favorite cake.
Another one would be brownie cheese cake.

My favorite so-called cake is cheesecake. I love crumb crusts.

I'm not a huge fan of cake in general—or rather, I enjoy it when I have it, but it's not something I specifically love, crave, or seek out. Smaller slices or cupcakes are all I can stomach, and I prefer smaller amounts of icing. Adding fresh fruit really improves a cake experience for me though. An unusual or unexpected flavor combination will spark my interest though.

Probably my favorite is a vanilla cake. Vanilla is often dismissed as the plain or default flavor, but I think it's actually a really amazing flavor. Lemon or lime are also great flavors for either the cake or the icing. Some flavors I'd really like to try are Earl Grey, and Lavender.

How do you make a flourless cake? Does a cheesecake or ice cream cake count as a flourless cake?
