What holidays do you celebrate?
What holidays do you celebrate each year?
For example -- Whose birthdays do you always celebrate? What anniversaries do you remember to celebrate each year? Do you celebrate any religious holidays? How about any cultural or national holidays? Do you celebrate any fun or weird holidays? Have you ever made up a holiday of your own? With whom do you typically celebrate these holidays? What do you do to celebrate the holidays? Do you wear any specific clothing or accessories on those holidays? Do you decorate the house for any of those holidays? Do you normally take off work or school on any holidays? What color theme corresponds to each of the holidays you celebrate? |
I don't really celebrate holidays much.
I do like to celebrate my favorite celeb birthdays, though. I buy myself cake on Tom Hiddleston's birthday and I watch some of my favorites of his movies that I own. I also like to go through my pictures of him and pick favorites. I also celebrate my own birthday, my parents' birthdays and my bunny's birthday. (I don't know my bunny's birthday exactly, so we celebrate the whole birth month. :D) I also celebrate Halloween and Earth Day. |
Aww thank you for sharing ava the vampire :D

I usually don't celebrate too much during the random holidays, but I like to dress up for Halloween to give candy out. I do visit family during Thanksgiving and stuff, don't do much other then decorate the outside of my house. As for my birthday, I think I might do something different this year instead of working or staying at home doing nothing.
For everything else I didn't realize the holiday was here or I just simply ignore it. I don't send out birthday cards because I can't seem to remember who's birthday is when. |
i live with a relative, so i can't really do my own celebrating of anything. i text family members happy birthday or give them gift cards or something when i get reminded because i don't actually remember their birthdays but i'm obligated to pretend i do. :^P
i try to decorate a little and dress up on halloween, even if i'm just throwing on a mask and passing out candy, because halloween is my favorite. unfortunately, i'm the only one in the house who cares and i usually don't have anyone to celebrate with, so the latter is all i'm able to do anyway. christmas is my second favorite, but i can't enjoy it as much as i'd like to either because i can't spend it with the people i really care about and want to be with. more "doing what the family does out of obligation" and trying to get in my own personal things where i can. i get gifts for my friends and try to personalize them; i have fun doing that. picking out something i think they'll really like, drawing on the packaging, any other little stupid jokey things i can throw in. i put fake snow glitter in the box i mailed to my sister, along with a coloring book page i had colored because they left them in the breakroom at work. i have a stupid sense of humor... the only thing i do for easter is eat the candy. i would honestly enjoy dyeing eggs and all that childish stuff again, but as with everything else i don't have anyone to do that with and my family definitely wouldn't think highly of me getting in on easter egg hunts at great-grandpa's house with the kiddos. i like to have a drink and watch a countdown or a fireworks display on new year's, but that relies on me actually being home. this past new year's i was cleaning toilets while justin bieber played on the radio at work. my new year's eve consisted of me snapping a picture of the freshly cleaned toilet while a few associates shouted "happy new year" to each other from across the store. i do remember my friends' birthdays (most of the time, anyway), and i at least tell them happy birthday if not also send them presents. that's all i really can do; i don't actually get to see or spend time with anyone. i usually forget my own birthday, but other people like to remind me of it anyway. i appreciate getting stuff, but not so much the reminder that another year has gone by and i'm still stuck where i am... but that's another story. valentine's isn't really a thing for me except for the temptation to buy chocolates. i don't really have the time or energy to acknowledge anything else, tbh tl;dr: i'm not religious but i like having my traditions. however, they're meaningless without being able to do them with people you care about. |
aww thank you for sharing uncledaddy :D and Yamka Jaden :D
---------- Post added 04-08-2017 at 10:57 PM ---------- I try to celebrate the birthdays of my closest friends too. One of my friend's birthdays is this friday so we will be going out to dinner and dessert. I am not sure yet if I am going to the second day of his birthday party, which will be at his house. |
I celebrate anything with food [drool]
And my s/o's birthday. Not so much mine. |
Birthdays, Easter, Thanksgiving, n' Christmas. Easter is just a day when it magically rains candy on all of us kids, and the others are family holidays.
|
Passover, "Winter Holidays," birthdays, and Thanksgiving.
We don't really do anything specific for the Winter Holidays unless we're invited somewhere. Its usually a Christmas party or dinner. Passover I celebrate not because I'm Jewish, but because my family was, and since they're like, almost all dead now, its a way to keep me feeling connected to that. |
Easter ,4th of July ,Halloween ,thanksgiving and Christmas

Christmas halloween
|
I celebrate the birthdays of my friends and myself. My local friends, I hang out with, my non-local friends, I usually just mail a present.
I also celebrate Christmas, but only because I live too close to my dad so he insists on getting together. And on occasion, I celebrate Thanksgiving because of the same reason. Other than those, I really don't do holidays anymore. |

I celebrated Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and Dia de los Angelitos (Day of the Little Angels - for deceased children) in college. I didn't celebrate them last year because my fiance hates thinking about death in any form, and he especially hates sugar skulls :( I'm thinking about celebrating them again this year, though.
I made an altar with candles, tissue paper flowers, pictures of deceased loved ones, and things that reminded me of them - like poetry books for my friend who was a writer. I also bought sugar skulls, pan de muerto (YUM), and marzipan, I think - since marzipan was already in stores for the Christmas season. I always liked celebrating Dia de los Muertos because it made me feel closer to my heritage. As a white Hispanic person who doesn't speak Spanish (and is engaged to a white guy :P) it's easy to feel isolated. |
Day of the Little Angels? How do you celebrate that? It's such a sad sounding holiday. I've never heard of it though.
Also what's a sugar skull? o.o It sounds like food? |
