Neph - wow that's patience!
It took maybe 2 hours or so.
Ava's mom never had the patience to put braids in my hair |
Only 2 hours? Wow if have expected 5 or 6
beautiful how do you make dreadlocks
Thanks, friends :)
I think there are videos that show you how to make dreadlocks, But for me, I took the easy way out and got extensions crocheted in, It was especially interesting because most people use about three packs of hair for their dreadlocks, but I only used one and a half packs. |
Oh you have to add something to it? I thought it was all natural.
Most of it is natural. :0
My hair isn't actually that long, though. So it is extensions, some of it. |
Oh I see. It looked pretty long in other pictures.
Now that my dreads are "old" I took some new pictures,
But it's late, I am tired so I will upload them tomorrow |
How long will they last?
They last a long time,
I probably won't keep them in for too long, though... |
Oh? That's cool.
Thinking of doing another hairstyle? |
Yeah, I was actually thinking of getting my hair dyed.
I was going to get it dyed a while back, but the salon I went to didn't know how to dye ethnic hair so they gave me some bullshit response saying that it would take, 4-5 $80 sessions to get my hair to lift ONE COLOR.... Which, is bullshit because I've had my hair dyed plenty of times and got it to blonde in less than two hours. |
Wow. They could at least have been honest about it.
yeah... just dye your hair yourself. cause that's an insane amount of time and money they wanted.
Yeah it was bullshit. :|
I found a salon in a mall here with a guy who seems to know ethnic hair really well and he said he'd dye my hair for one $80 session. Which is much better than paying like... $400 for 4-5 sessions and only lifting one color... Right now my hair is mostly black, but the ends are dyed from having my hair dyed like two years ago... |
$80 is still so much money though that's insane.
I would probaby spend 80 to have my hair dyed for a dy and than have to redye it :( so basically I would just spend the money on a wig. and .. well... learn how to care for them cause my current wig i can't figure out how to brush. and its a mess from my move and i have no idea how to wear it and look good cause i have a huge forehead.
Wig? Shadami wears a wig?
Or is it one of those "part of the hair" things? Also found this: How to Protect and Care for a Wig: 7 Steps (with Pictures) |
That's a really useful post for wigs.
Glad to know, I've never worn one owo
that's cool, I've never worn a wig nor will I ever probably. But all the orthodox Jewish women I know who are married wear wigs for religious reasons
Wigs are religious? I did not know that. Why?
Orthodox Jewish women (i.e. those who are religiously observant to that degree) are "supposed to" cover their hair after they are married, for modesty. And technically, there is no rule that you can't cover your hair with a wig, so a lot of them opt to wear a wig instead of a scarf or some other headwear. I was taught this by my orthodox jewish friends who also pointed out to me that a beautiful wig kind of defeats the purpose of that rule of modesty lol
Oh I see. That definitely is kind of odd. Like wearing a bright yellow sock to cover your ankles.
