My real name is Kathryn. I don't know what it means though. I was named that because my parents liked the name.

That was my best friend from high school's name. If I remember right it means regal or royal.

Otaku 08-09-2008 03:08 AM

Virginia
:P XD

My real name is Ryan. I like my name, but I hate how common it is and how close it is to "Bryan" because whenever some one is talking to another Byan or Ryan I think they're talking to me. My name means young/little prince and my older sister picked it. I'm happy with my name and I wouldn't want to change it.:)

raindroproses 08-09-2008 03:20 AM

Mine is Melanie :P I'm not sure if I like it or not... for some reason I think it sounds kind of funny when I say it. It means "black" or "the dark one" which is kind of cool considering I can be rather dark at times, haha.

My parents WERE going to name me Melissa, but I'm really glad they didn't... I hate the nickname Missy! Their reason for not naming me that? They didn't want people to shorten my name to "Mel." Uh, hello? Melanie turns into Mel too! xD So Mel is my nickname much to my parent's chagrin.

Yummeh 08-09-2008 03:23 AM

My real life name is Susie. (:
I have no idea why my parents named me that. ;] ~

Shrimp_Man 08-09-2008 03:26 AM

My real name is Christy. It's supposed to be a short form of Christine, but for me, my name is just Christy. It's not shortened. It means Follower of Christ, I guess I'm supposed to be either Christian or Catholic judging on my name. xD My parents named me that because my Dad wanted it. My mom wanted to name me Jennifer but my dad stepped in and said that he wanted to name me Christy.

Ginger 08-09-2008 03:26 AM

My name is common yet odd...
Kymnberly, pronounced just like 'Kimberly'
people have issues saying it, and pronounce it Kim-en-im-berly, wth, it's kinda like 'hymn', and it's pronounce 'him' >< say it right! yesh

What it means, idk. I wonder if im the only one in the world with my name spelt such a way. Makes me feel unique yet a weirdo lol

My mom got the idea from her old best friend name Kimberly, but wanted it to be different, well it sure is XD

My real name is Theresa. In Greek it means "harvester". My parents chose it after Mother Teresa since our family is religious. I'm glad they chose that name and wouldn't change it. (:

Claudia 08-09-2008 03:33 AM

(letter) Erica Stolte.

My last name means proud in German.

Michy Lea 08-09-2008 03:37 AM

Michelle.

According to a "Name Meanings" website, it is French and means "Who is like God".

I have no idea why my mom picked "Michelle". She was going to name me and my twin Sandy and Candy or something rhyme-y, but in the end, she just gave us both names starting with M and the same middle name, so we have the same initials. My sister and brother's (also twins) initials are the same but in reverse... My sister is TMB, and my brother is MTB. Their first names don't rhyme either.

Coquette 08-09-2008 03:48 AM

jessica
way to popular for my taste so i like my family to call me dot, dottie, or nellie
and the meaning, "wealthy one"
pretty boring XD

Astromantic 08-09-2008 05:15 AM

My name is Stephanie, which means Crown in Greek, I believe. I don't really like my name mainly because it's so common and it sounds like a very valley-girl/cheerleader type of name. My friends either call me Steph or Kiwi.

But! There is a very beautiful song by The Velvet Underground called "Stephanie Says," which has made me appreciate my name a lot more.

Elphey 08-09-2008 05:47 AM

Elphey. :)
Means battle elf in irish, I think xD

Mivaelianyn 08-09-2008 05:50 AM

My name is Crystal and I don't know what it means. XD

jupiter 08-09-2008 07:01 AM

In Greek, it means "christ-bearer".
Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not bearing Christ any time soon.

Mekoness 08-09-2008 08:53 AM

I can't recall if I've already posted in this thread or a thread like it but...

My name is Stephanie, which is French and means Crown. *shrugs* My Chinese name is Wing-See, which means Singing A Poem.

Crazy_Gypsy 08-09-2008 09:04 AM

My name is Casey. Im not sure if there is a meaning to it if there is i dont know.
My middle name however is Kay and thats named after my grandmother!

Psychondriac 08-09-2008 09:25 AM

My name is Elisabeth, full name Elisabeth Anne. It means "Consecrated to God". It's pretty dang lame, I'll tell ya. XD My parents named me after a missionary, as well as the mother of John in the Bible. >>; I'm not religious, but they are. XD It'd be kinda hard to tell them I really don't care but yeah. I'm not crazy about it, so I usually have people call me Eli or other nicknames.

Meretricious Death 08-09-2008 09:33 AM

Bernadette.

Messenger of God, i think.

Shiny Coffee Fiend 08-09-2008 09:40 AM

Erin - it means peace. Oddly, I'm not very peace-loving / peaceful. Go figure.

Apparently my parents just sort of randomly liked the name. I think there may have been a chick on TV with the name, at the time...

Had I been male, I would have been Alex, though, even if there is a male form of the name already in existance... Silly parents - over-complicating things. xD

Zarq 08-09-2008 09:44 AM

Michelle

I hate it, it seems fancy (and I'm not)

I *also* hated being called Mitchell by teachers who didn't take the time to actually figure out I'm female, let alone learn my name.

I have no idea what it means, I've never been interested enough to check.

FlyingYume1 08-09-2008 05:15 PM

My name is Vaiva.

I don't like when people call me that.
>___<

Sanctuary 08-09-2008 05:34 PM

Shannon which happens to mean "wise" in irish.

My sister named me when she was three years old and no one else was willing to because I had less than a 1% chance to live. My sister, at three before anyone in the household was religious, claimed to be talking to god. Everyday when she came downstairs she would tell my mother things about me and all would turn out true. I, myself, am not personally religious and this event is the source of my mother's religion so it makes me excessively uncomfortable.

It made me even more uncomfotable after I heard that Shannon is hebrew for "God is gracious". That just gives me the shivers".

My middle name is also religious; noel.
