It's not the easiest to start doing. I used to hate my church but after I went to a youth camp this summer, I was saved and am beginning to enter back into church.
You just have to break yourself into the path of Christianity.

- I actually was baptized a while back. Like a year ago or two. I haven't gone to church in a week though. Also not this week since I'll be on vacation and I don't really feel bad about it. I'm actually pretty happy I'm not going this week n___n (I still hate the church that I go to...). I repent to say the least though >___<.
I went to a summer Christian camp once but it was pretty dreadfully boring and I didn't really get anything out of it X.X

- I'm not sure if I'll be on tomorrow. In the event that I do, it won't be for very long.
If I'm not on tomorrow, then I'll probably be back on Menewsha in five to six days. I'm going on a little trip :3. Keep on posting though, I'll still read and respond to all your comments either tomorrow (not likely, but possible) or the day I come back =]
Thanks for all the comments so far! Keep them all coming ^___^

Well, I also hate church probably because my father drags me there every weekend. I curse pretty frequently, and I'm sure that I've made fun of people. Religion is whatever you make of it. Remember, God forgives all who have sinned as long as you have forgiven yourself for what you've done. Don't sweat it, nobody could be the perfect Christian.

I'm actually totally okay with being friends with people with completely different beliefs. I've been friends with Atheists, Buddhists, Satanists, and I don't always agree with them. But they're open to believe in whatever they want. I mean, if they want to become a Christian then the door's wide open for them but if not, then I just leave them alone in what they believe in.
Yeah. The bible wasn't written by God. It was written by people, just by humans. But, God took place in some of the events in the bible.

Yes, this is the hardest of all. Getting your friends to come to church with you is a step into helping not only you but your friend also.

- Well, my friends come sometimes to church. Although, I encourage (but not force) them to attend a church when they can get a chance. I usually say "Yeah church can be fun...But stay away from mine 'cause mine sucks >___>

Yeah, I was raised Christian. Although, my friend's older brother changed religons even though their family was raised Christian (as well). I think he converted to Odoism (or at least that's how my friend said it, he mumbels a lot...). It was a religon where you write in Runes. That's all I remember about it. He got like the Runes alphabet thing tatooed on his back. It looked cool xD. He may still have a bit of Christianity in him though, like you said.
Hmmm, I guess so :3. I mean it doesn't say anywhere in the bible that 'If you flip someone off, your so not a Christian!' >___<. At least not to my knowledge anyway. I mean, as long as I still love, believe, and trust God then I should be considered at least a semi-Christian xD

So true =3
- Yeah having a religon is kind of stressful sometimes X___X. Not all churches are like that though, but a lot are. Ugh, I have church tomorrow D': . I hate, hate, hate going there (to this day). Our youth group pastor got mad at us on Mother's Day because church service was early and he angry that we were tired when we should be wide awake since we're in church. Yeah right. Maybe if he wasn't so damn boring >>;;
Yeah, there's a lot of hypocrites in religons. People who sin all through the week and then on Sunday act all holy. I'm not like that though, I sin every day of the week. It doesn't have to be a day other than Sunday for me to do that xD. I screw up, and I'm willing to admit that. I just don't like those people who are all "I'm so holy..." and then get all drunk everyday other than Sunday and go to church like little angels -rolls eyes-

Well aren't there varying forms of Christianity? I mean, I'm really an Agnostic, so I can't say I know much about the Christian faith, but I don't think that just because you do those things it classifies you as less of a Christian. I mean, its really a stereotype of the religion that you're thinking of (in my opinion at least) that makes you question your faith. If you believe in what your religion stands for, then that's what you are. Your actions are the things that make you you, and just because you do something that doesn't follow a certain "trend" in your faith, it isn't something you should worry over. My cousins are very devoted Christians, but they'll still cuss you out and do things that are not "Christian-like" according to the church.
The church is really the place that enforces such crap. I mean, the religion is about your faith isn't it? I really think that it is your faith that is determining the person you are in this case, not your actions. And I know this post sounds repetative.. which it kind of is haha, but that's just how I feel about it. The church has too much say in how you should act. I think you should define yourself, and choose for yourself the actions that you take to make you that person. Ignore the norm, break out and be free~

First... taste of music is totally unrelated. It's what you love, no one should force you into liking one kind of music.
Cursing a lot isn't that big a sin. I have a friend who goes to church, she once said "Oh f*ck, I still have to go to f*cking church tonight". Only then she realised how funny this sounded. My friend is a great Christian, cursing doesn't matter at all!
Hating your church is exactly the same. My friend doesn't like to go to church either, unless her crush is there. Then she's very eager to go. You don't have to like visiting your church or anything.
And the seven sins... everyone commits them. I mean, you can't help being envious of someone, and I personally think nothing is wrong about being proud when you deserved it. You shouldn't try to express them too much, that's all. If your friend has a higher grade than you, don't go shouting "I hate you, I should've had that grade", but keep it to yourself a little.
And making fun of people is okay, as long as the people you're making fun of are okay with it.
What makes a Christian? I think it isn't about praying every day or going to church, never lying or not being jealous of someone, I think it's about truly believing in God.
But the most important thing is: let your heart lead you! Don't let anyone tell you you're not a Christian at all! You get to decide that!
---
Personally, I'm an Atheïst, but I truly, deeply respect people who are religious. I think it's amazing that a person can have that much trust in something that hasn't been proven.
And what's there to lose? I mean, if there is a god (shouldn't be capitalized because I'm not specific), then you're doing everything right. If there isn't, well, then it was for nothing, but you can never be sure, right? You won't be punished for it in your next life anyway, because if there isn't a god there most likely won't be a next life. ;D

And yeah, mortal sins normally get you sent to Hell. Unless, of course, God has forgiven you for said sins, not neccessarily because your confession(please bear in mind that I'm approaching this with Catholic beliefs...), but because you were truely sorry. And maybe you did osmething nice? I dunno, I'm no theologian. Yet. I've only started doing my major research. :DD
So if I got anything wrong, don't be surprised. And I'm not too sure about Protestant faiths, though don't they belief that you can be saved through faith alone? :O
|
Hey, hey, hey, to you too ;D
- Yes, I cuss. I don't say the Lord's name in vain though. I mean, I say stuff like "Oh shiiit D<" but I don't say "God-dammit D<" or anything. I curse, but God isn't included in the cursing >___<.
About me getting sent to hell...I'm not sure if I will. Maybe yes? Maybe no? I have no clue. I hoping for a "no" for hell though. I'd rather take the Stairway To Heaven than the Highway To Hell (Led Zeppelin and AC/DC haha).
I'm not sure if you got anything wrong or not, I wouldn't really know exactly. My church doesn't have a confession booth or anything since I'm not Catholic. But I pray to God though, like "Oh man, did I screw up today! xD"
Saved by faith alone ;O? That'd be awesome <333. But I'm not sure if that's true or not Dx

Me? I'm a Roman-Catholic. But I don't do everything the Bible tells me to. I really don't care because I think God'll understand those are my views and if he doesn't like it then fuck it I'm not changing. I've said "Oh my God!" so many times and I've used the word "Goddamn" more times than I can count. I hate preaching but I am willing to talk about it if someone is ignorant or if someone needs clarification. I have 'fantasies' and I support homosexuals and the right for them to get married. I semi-support abortion and then I'll say no to death and wars. Religion should not determine your everyday decisions either. Morals should, religions just lay the morals down for you and then you choose which ones you want to abide by.
Christianity though, I think all you really should and need to do is believe in God and that Jesus was his son and our savior; Also you should confess 'sins' to him every now and then. Or even just chat with him. I'll lie down in bed and talk to the dude for hours sometimes, but I don't feel I need to confess my sins to him if we both know what I screwed up.
I'll add more later, but I have to make dinner ;-;
|
- I know the feeling of that. When I was younger, I would say "Oh my god! ;O" just about every single day xD. Seriously :3. But then, I thought I shouldn't use God's name in vain so I pretty much stopped that n____n.
I think all those stuff you said is just you being human. I mean, I'm all for homosexuality as well. Personally, I'm not though. I'm straight. But if two people love each other but happen to be the same gender, then I believe they have the right to get married if they want :]. No one should tell them otherwise. I think abortions are fine. I'm sort of alright with them, but I'm not really against or for it. But I mean, if someone really needs it, then they should take the oppurtunity =3.
I think chatting with God is more enjoyable then saying "Oh I messed up on this, this, and this..." . I usually get to me screwing up sometime into the conversation though xD

I am actually a person that believes in god, but I don't belong to any set up religion.
I even read the bible, but I just can't conform to the society's standards of an organized religion where half the people are hypocrites.
So most of the world will tell me I am not Christian because I don't go to church.
But I have this saying.
Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than sitting in a barn makes you a horse!
So with that in mind, I don't think that a religion makes you Christian.
I don't think that following a set of rules makes you Christian.
I believe that a belief in God and Jesus Christ makes you Christian.
Those are my thoughts on that.
I hope that they don't offend.

No one is perfect, no matter what the religion. If you believe in Christianity and practice the faith, that alone makes you a Christian, right?
I don't think anyone here is able to judge if another is a "good" or a "poor" (insert religious name here), you know? ^_^;
