This thread was made after I read a thread from an Atheist user on Menewsha. I was just wondering, just because I do certain sins am I still considered to be Christian? (Or at least would you consider me to be). Here's some things about me to take into consideration:
I curse a lot
I get into (physical contact) fights
I love metal music
I hate my church with a burning passion
I lie more than you could ever imagine
I commit two of the seven deadly sins
I make fun of people
I don't think I'm terrible, but...Tell me, what would you define as a Christian? A nice person? Would you consider me to be a 'Christian'?
But, I do honestly believe in a higher being. I believe in God. But with all that I do, would I still be considered Christian?
Note: I was curious to see what others thought. Not anyone I really know believes I'm Christian. They think it's a joke >.>
EDIT: No, I don't force people into my religon. And I don't plan on it ever. So feel free to say whatever you want in here. Honesty is appreciated over being nice =3. I need some truth here.

You are what you want to be. You don't really have to follow all the guidlines in a relgion if you don't like them. I personally don't like the lables that go along with relgions because although people of one relgion may beleive in a "God", it doesn't mean they like other aspects of the relgion and they could believe an aspect of another religion while still maintaining their faith in the first relgion.
No one's a "pure" Christian any more anyway. Everyone "sins" so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Those who say they've never commited any of the "deadly sins" are lying. =/

Yeah, that does seem to be true lately. It's like people believe in part of a religon but neglect other parts of it :3. It's like a mix of different beliefs lately >__<
Hmm. I never thought of that. Come to think of it, a lot of people aren't very pure in accordance with Christianity. Everyone screws up sometimes. Some more than others >.> . And yeah, everyone commits at least one of those sins in their lifetime. Mine happens to be pretty much daily. The seven deadly sins are moreso things that every human being goes through at one point or another.

You are what you believe yourself to be. Just because you're a Christian doesn't mean that you have to be that cookie cutter image of perfection that's taught to everyone.
My grandmother is the most faithful woman that I know. She cusses. She currently dislikes her church. She has lied. She mocks people. As she puts it, "No one is perfect, and I won't lie and say that I am. But I am also not going to pretend that I'm something that I'm not."
I really think that you're going to be fine as long as you don't break the commandments, and as long as you repent at some point.

im christian too. I do all of those things [cept for hating the church]. But i believe in God, try to be good, and don't hide my faith.
like others said, we aint perfect. I dont think any of us want to be the virgin Mary either
but if you don't like being christian, why be one? denounce yourself. there's no point believing in something you hate

I agree with the others, just because you'r christian doesn't mean that you have to be an angel. I'm not really good with words and explaining, so that'll be all I'll have to say. Be yourself, don't let anything else decide that for you.

Sinner! You shall burn in hell! Rant rant rant etc etc and all that psycho stuff we love so dearly. x3
Nah, I honestly dont know what a Christian is anymore except some-one who apparently follows the Christian faith, and if god made everything (including our dearly beloved satan? x3) isnt it technically his fault that Sin was created in the first place? It gets so confusing when you think too much about it. Okay im going off topic there but anyway!
I'm a sinner and I'm proud to be because it's what makes me a God-Damned human, HAH.
x3 And the monkey flipped off God, "Watch the birdy, yer holiness."

Everyone's human. Everyone messes up sometimes, or depending on our mood and the situation, a lot. What matters is what you believe, cause if we went by actions, I don't think any of us would live up to Christianity (or any other religion, come to think of it).

I can relate to this.
I believe in God... but I don't like church, and I want to be myself.
People should accept you for who you are <3

- Don't worry, I believe in God also, and I swear.
I also hate going to church, and how people think that going to church makes you a 'better person'.
Everyone makes fun of people once in a while, and we've committed at least one of the seven sins before. We've all been greedy at some point in time.
And I lie a lot too. d: I mean, I don't like it, but then again I don't think before I talk that often.
As long as you believe in God and are committed to the church, you're Christian. You can be something that tells you not to do something you do. No one should stop you from what you want to do, because it's your own life. Even if people are trying to help guide you.

Ohh this is a touchie subject...
Here is what I have to say, being a Christian and being a nice person do not always go hand in hand.
It really depends on what you consider being a Christian is. If you believe in God and take to heart the fundemental beliefs of your church then to an extent you are. But then again if you really did care about the fundemental beliefs that make your religion would you be cursing, breaking the sins knowing it and not doing anything to stop yourself?
What I try to do is police myself against the Bible not against a religion itself because all religions are flawed in some way or another.
I think, "Would I do this if God was right here with me?" Or would I be feeling regret and asshamed of what I just did? So try thinking about that and see if anything changes.
Just know in the end God is your only judge not a human and be glad for that cause all of us here are not without sin.

you are a christian not one of the best I have seen but if you truely believe whe the christian faith says even if you don't follow it exactly then you are a christian. You don't have to go to church or like church some to be christian it's all what you believe.

I don't believe that it is someone actions that makes their religion, it's what they believe in. The hardcore Christians are the ones that act like saints..

I'm a Christian, Lutheran if you want to be more precise. And as a Lutheran, I've always been taught that as long as you believe in the Lord and put your faith in him, then you are saved. In other words, no matter how many times you sin, you are still a Christian. He won't reject you if you're not "perfect." I know some other Christian faiths teach differently, but I don't believe you have to be perfect and do no wrong in order to be considered a Christian. Hell, I curse sometimes too (hehe) and I know I do things that are way less than Christian-like. But I usually ask God to forgive those "sins" and I still have my faith in him at the end of every day.
Also, where in the bible does it say, "Thou shalt not flip the bird"? (Yes, I added this for laughs. I'm going to hell, haha)

I wanna go to hell for a reason. I like snow. Now why, people ask, do I want to go to hell when I like snow? The answer is simple, no-one ever talks about Heaven freezing over, and if theres so much clutter about "Hell freezing over," I wanna be there to see it, because when it freezes over, there will be snow, and we can teach Satan the wonders of making Snow Angels, x3

I always believed that hell is different for everyone. Like in the movie "Little Nicky." For example, my version of hell would be to get locked up in a room with Paris Hilton for all eternity. *shudders*

I think my hell would be suffering the dreams I used to have when I was younger, and trust me, they're really complicated to explain... Not yer usual things like being chased by demonic clowns and such, I mean 'really' complicated to explain in a description that seems logical.

Hey Cardania, would she would walk around in fire and tar going "Thats hawwwwt!"? xD
(</tangent>)
I kind of want to go to hell... heaven seems so boring. Its the bad stuff in life that leads to excitement, and frankly, heaven sounds like perpetual life on Xanax. Not something I'd enjoy.
I believe that as long as you expect to get into heaven, you'll go there. That seems to be pretty good criteria. :3

46% Human being,
46% Devil
42% Saint
and a 25% chance of going to hell.

To be Christian is to believe in Christ. Just because you do those things doesn't mean you don't believe in Christ. Now more pasific religions don't allow you to do those things, but yeah, you're Christian.
