Well, for those of you who don't know, I work in a grocery store. I'm actually a little bit of everything, though mostly a cashier. But that's beside the point. See this lady came through my line at work with this big 'ol box of chicken in her buggy. And well, she proceeded to tell me that the price on it was 14 whatever. >.>
Now, I don't know about any other cashiers out there, but there is no whatever button on my register...
But wait, it gets better.
I also want to know why people must throw their groceries onto the register. They gotta kill the food before they eat it? I have actually been hit by cans that have ricocheted off of my register. <.<

lol. I try to be a nice cashier, but sometimes people just get to me. Like how I'll be standing at my register, with my little 'open' light on. And I will have just rang up a customer, and right time they walk off someone comes up to me and goes, "Are you open?" o.o
Its like, nah... I just got bored and thought I'd come stand here.... >.>
I had to play bagger one day for this crazy woman.
I picked up her groceries to take them out to her car and she started screaming at me.
I think she thought I was trying to steal them.
She was all, "Thems MY groceries!!!!!11111" (yes, she actually said thems)
And I'm all 0.0.... ok.....

Silly old lady, why would a cashier steal your groceries in the wide open? Pffh. Old ladies can be silly sometimes.

I just got one of the newbie baggers to take it out for her instead ^^. lol.
I've had worse then her before though. This one time this man couldn't find his wallet, so he started taking his clothes off at me. o.o
I just love it when people follow me with their buggies to my register. >.>
Then when they get there, they just stand there and stare at me, liek 'what do we do now? o.o' .
And my all time favorite, the people that ask me that if something doesn't scan, is it free....
If that were true, I'd be running down the isles scratching every bar code I could find. <.<

I've actually fused out a customer before. >.> They were basically the straw that broke the camel's back.
Basically, they threw something down, forcefully I might add, onto the scanner of my register. <.<
That part of my register is very sensitive and if it breaks, guess who gets to fix it. That's right, me.
(lol, register repair, just another one of my many jobs)

We have those fun, little hidden cameras in our store. If someone tries to steal something, the manager usually just yells at them over the intercom.

I feel bad for my cashiers because my mom is so impatient. She'll throw stuff on the belt and if I try to help I get yelled at. Then the cashier wont 'bag things right' so my mom goes through it all and rebags it herself. It's so ridiculous. Dx She refuses to go to the self check-out line as well. So tiring.
I plan to work at Safeway. But I would never be a cashier. I'm not a very peopley person. (I lie about that when I apply though XD) I get upset easily when people have no respect for others and yell at workers for no reason.
What I really hate is when cashiers flirt with me! Especially when they act really odd. Freaks me out.

They throw things. o.o
I've never seen that before.
I'm sort- of a cashier at my mom's greenhouse, but we use paper and pen to add prices up.
And my god do I get annoyed of people looking over my shoulder and asking what every single amount is. D: And some of them are just all around stupid. They complain when a plant isn't in bloom enough.
Because, obviously, plants don't bloom anymore than you see when you buy them. Annoying people..

Lol, I wanna help them out actually. I have a dentency to pack my own things [ In Trader Joes, you can do that yourself without the cashier getting fired ]
So sometimes I just reach out for the bag to pack it and the cashier gives me this look ; ___ ;

Aren't people usually rude to grocery store cashier people? I know its rude, but I usually do all my shopping by myself now that they're having the self-checkout things put in in more stores. I only go through the cashiers if I have a ton of stuff because they're better at it than me haha.
But people should just go slowly. Its better for them anyways.

You don't wanna know the name of the store I work at xp.
@Seiki - Yea, theres alot of people who are rude to cashiers, and it usually over something we have no control over. Like how much something costs. The cashiers don't price the stuff, but for some reason everyone comes complaining to us, like theres actually something we can do about it.
I actually told one person that 'its called inflation' when she came whining to me. >.>

Rude cashiers:
Well, I was buying a Harry Potter shirt at Hot Topic a few months ago. The cashier was like, "You like Harry Potter?" And I say proudly, "Yup.", and he goes on to say, "Oh. Well, I hate JK Rowling and all of her work. And she drinks coffee." I was just like..... " okayyy."
I mean, he wasn't exactly being rude for having an opinion, but obviously, if your customer likes something enough to buy a tshirt of it, wouldn't you think they don't really want to be put out by your extreme hate of it?
it was kind of depressing.

I like having a cashier who's nice and that I can have conversations with as I get checked out. I always ask them how they are and try to hand them the things, because I usually have one or two. >3< I always try to be as nice as I can to people, especially people who are hired to serve others.

The first thing that was told to my co-workers and I when we first started at Borders is to never put down an author or an item in the store, because that's what detracts customers. The only time we're technically allowed to do that is if we're talking only to one person, there isn't anyone else around, and they already started saying how much they hate the author or the series or something first. THEN we can put in our say... as long as it's the same as the customer. It was pretty funny hearing my managers go on about that the first time they said something, because of the way they explained it and then how they did their demonstration of the "right" way to go about it and the many "wrong" ways to do so. But once I started working, I really was able to realize exactly why they explained things like that. It was mind boggling how people would get fired for making customers angry by saying the wrong things. I figured that everyone who started working there did so because they loved books and such, but I remember one of my ex-co-workers saying this and that about everything she walked past, and she didn't last much longer than that. ^^;

Kudos to everyone who works as a cashier. I could never do that. T_T I have a very strong sense of empathy, and on top of that I'm generally a quiet person. I'd be a nervous wreck in a day... that, or I'd explode and the whole place would go up in flames. XD Either or.
Anyway, I try to be nice to workers in general. I work at a library, so I know all about the crazies and rude people you can get. I just thankfully don't have to deal with them myself. >.> And I know people get more than enough crap at their jobs, so....

Sometimes when I'm at work I get the feeling that some of the customers only act rude, because they know we aren't supposed to do anything. >.> Though, this is a rule Baba has broken many a time. And so far, all the manager has done is laugh at me. ^^
Sometimes, I just wonder if those people realize that I'm a person too.
