xDD

My parents are the exact opposite. They're the ones pressuring me to join all these sports and self-defense things, and I'm the one going "I'll break my arm!!!" Eheheeh...

When I was little, though, and was doing something bad, my parents would tell me that they'd send me to the School for Naughty Children. xDDD

I don't know why, but somehow, when you're little, things like that seem so scary. xDD;

xD my parents never cared much. Whatever it was, my dad usually said: "Well, go ahead. It's your life/money/time/whatever"
And my stephmum agreed. ^^

yea, same here. It doesn't really scare me when my mom says things like that when I say I want to do something, it's just annoys me she's so dang paranoid and overprotective. I know it's because she cares, but theres a point to where your to overprotective. >w<

My parents are quite like that. Infact, most of my family is. When i took up horse riding is the first example i can think of. My mom did't want me to do it becasue it was risky. I agreed, but if you want to you should, and there are risks in everything we do. My graddad told me every time i visited him, 'You should stop that' It really irritates me.
I'm very indicisive person, and if my parents share their ideas about something, which means their disaproval, i subconciously talk myself out of it, even if i really want to do something.

Yes. That's happened with certain foods. I hardly eat now because of what my parents tell me about certain food and how almost all meat has hormones. :x

That's also happened with the peircing/tattoo discussion. I hear on TV, parents, and friends say: "You know, when your 50 it's all gonna sag." Then I get disgusted and forget about it.

Fortunately, my parents don't behaved like that. They've never tried to scary me when I wanted something... My father don't say anything when I tell him that I would like to go to shoting section. Yeah, I'm so crazy that I want to shoot from bow *__* (Too much fantasy books, definitely it's because of those XD). And recently I get an information that in my city IS something like that, so I was really happy... Even if that doesn't mean that I'll go there and sign up ;d I'm sometimes SO lazy.

And I don't think that my parents know things like that about me, which they could use against me. I've never talked with them about me. I don't like talking about me with anyone ;3

... You can break your arms and legs and face crossing the street, does that stop you? If you break your arm, it'll heal, and then you can draw and play again. It seems awfully silly to let him talk you out of things under the risk of injury.

My Dad just out logics me. First he's all understanding and then once he gets where I'm coming from tears my logic to shreds. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. Usually it does.

My parents are actually very lenient whenever it comes to things that I want to do, unless they're dangerous. They just don't want me getting hurt, but I don't care about sports anyways, so that would never be an issue haha.

My parents do make me change my mind about electronics a lot though. Like before I coaxed my dad into getting me my sidekick.. he totally talked me out of it.

aphrodite remix 07-17-2007 03:28 PM

The only time my parents have ever tried to convince me not to do something, was when I was hitchiking back home from the city. A friend of mine and I had missed the bus, and we decided we were going to hitchike... not the smartest thing for a 16 year old to do. So I called my dad who was at work and couldnt' get us, and he started telling me all these horror stories etc..

We ended up doing though, and it wasn't that bad, it was deffinately an experience.

Haha, that kind of stuff always happens to my brother. My mom knows that he's totally afraid of dying, and wants to live a long life full of fun. So every time he wants to do something dangerous, my mom warns him that he might die. And if my brother wants to eat food that's bad for his health, my mom will be like, "you know, if you eat too much of that, it could shave a couple years off of your life..." It always works, too, even though he's seventeen.

Enniel 07-17-2007 05:50 PM

i HATE parents that do that. i always want to fly everywhere instead of drive--its faster!! and my dad is always telling me that im going to die in a plane crash -__- and im like...dad, i could die in a car accident!! geeeez!! so i try not to listen to them...

Abis 07-17-2007 05:52 PM

My parents have only ever pulled that with me in regards to my friends freshmen year... Something about how if I hung out with 'that type' of group, then even if I wasn't partaking in the activities they were, people would still view me like they viewed them, and I'd be judged... Didn't change my mind, but eh.
