Did it do any other tricks? And how long does it usually take for it to learn it? I mean everyone keeps saying they are intelligent and all, so just curious. |
Mine learned it in a few days. I didn't bother teaching him other things because I was lazy. Yogurt drops work wonders when you're training them. They'd do anything for them. XD

mystic kiwi: Thats awesome that they don't sell them as feeders. Almost all places do and its kind of sad, especially if they don't treat the rats/mice like pet rats/mice. There is a discount pet store near where I live that puts around 15 or more rats in a 10 gallon tank and calls it good. They are so dirty and depressed looking. kimu: Rats are so easy to teach them tricks to. Oh and yeah they do love yogurt! Cheese actually promotes tumors in rats and mice...but don't tell that to the cartoon makers. :P |
i dun have a pet rat, but i can tell they're a whole lot easier to take care of than big dogs. big pet = big poop = big headache XD

One of my friends had one named "Inky" since his fur was dark dark black. She liked to run on me and sit on my shoulder, kinda like the hamster he had before the rat. She was pretty much a clean freak type of rat. The type that would make sure her own cage is neat and she didn't have anything on herself. I like them in general. :] |
I wish I had a pet rat! when I was little two boys who lived down thr street frmmy baby sitters had pet rats they were so cute! My mom would never let me have one but when i get my own place I am gonna have lots of differnt pets ^_^

I only have a cat and a rabbit. If I got an adorable (to me) rat then my mom would freak out, plus my kitty would probably eat it. :[

I don't know, I remember really wanting a rat one time. In fact, it wasn't even the kind with fur. Yes, thats right, a bald rat.
I don't mind rats, I find them rather adorable in my opinion. And I can understand why they'd be a popular pet choice. |
I wouldn't really want a rat as a pet. I don't think they're odd or anything. Just not my thing. I think they're becoming more common as a pet now.
I love dogs and birds. I'm a dog person. ^^ I have three birds. Two parakeets and a cockatiel. They're amusing. |
I remember when I was younger and brother #1 was in college, he had a roommate who had a rat. it was an albino rat and I thought it was absolutely adorable ^^ Of course, I wouldn't touch it though (fear of being bitten, I think) but I liked looking at it from a distance.

I know quite a few people with rats! I love them, but I'd never keep any because I have cats and I'd be terrified of the rats getting caught.

I love rats. I used to have one named Winnie. She died a while ago, though. She was so cute! She liked to hold my fingers in her paws and lick them. Unfortunately, I've developed allergies to rats. :( I still love them, though!

I don't actually know anyone who owns a rat, surprisingly. So, naturally, I never knew that they were actually a popular pet. o.o
I have no opinion either way about rats or mice. They sound like they would be easy to take care of and are probably interesting pets to own, though. ^^ |
I hate rats. If I were to see one I
would literally scream. They freak me out with there long tails and hairy bodies and weird looking teeth. I just find them disgusting. I had a pet gerbil before and I wouldn't go anywhere near it. It ended up dying because of the lack of food. |
First thing that came into my mind was Scabbers - Ron Weasley's magical pet rat who's actually a Death Eater.
My dad wouldn't let me watch Ratatouille because he saw them bloody and in rat traps before... >.< One thing I know I'd never to do to my pet rats (if I get them as pets) is doing the stupid maze... or is that mice? It seems cruel... |
I think rats are cute! I've never been allowed to own one though because my mom thinks they're gross. :(

I had a friend that used to raise rats, he made pretty good money from it, sold to many pet stores, had some kind of deal with a vet, lol. His house smelled funny tho. He kept them in their own room and tried to seal it off but it didn't work. It wasn't really bad tho, don't get me wrong. And after a minute or 2, you hardly noticed. He always had a rat with him too. lol

I'v never had a rat but there are some in our loft,i'm not sure what other people call it,that place in the roof you stick stuff n stuff.
Anywho,we have some there,but i'm not entirely sure if they are rats AND mice or just mice,there is a mouse in my room,at one point i thought it was a rat and i couldn't sleep when i was sleeping because i was scared of it biting me or something,but then my mom saw one pop its head out of the door when we were cleaning up my room a little,they she covered up the hole under the door and that night i saw the mouse that had already been in my room it was all sooty coloured and so adorable,it's still there i beleive if it hasn't snuck out or got into the walls again,see the mice in my house walk/climb/sneak through the walls to get to places,tis quite funny. But i don't think i could ever keep a rat as a pet,they scare me too much,apparently their fleas carry the plauge D: i'm not sure about domesticated ones,but i sure hate wild ones,but i have had 3 hamsters and 2 gerbils while living in this house,my first hamster loved me,she would crawl over me and not run off,the other ran off xD and bit me...but i don't think rats are that exotic,people breed them to sell because they know people like them,they are bigger than normal rodents so people can handle them without being worried about hurting them,or something like that,i hate people who don't use human traps for them though,they aren't expensive and its nicer to let them go back to their families if they had them,just drive a mile out and drop them in some woodland or something,its horrible to think of them being snapped in half by traps D: But i think i might ask my momfor a rat xD she will never allow it but i want to see her expression,my dogs would probably eat it or run away like babies ^_^ |

I absolutely adore rats--thing is, I've never had one.
this is 100% due to my mother having an issue with them. she feels they're dirty, and poor pets. I'm not quite sure why she has an opinion on their quality as companions, but thats just me.. :] |
