Ughhh. I get bloody noses all the time. For two weeks after I came back from my Japan trip, I got them at least once every other day. Dx It was horrible. I was rejoicing when three days went by and I didn't have one!

These weren't just little bloody noses, mind you. It was dripping out of my nose into the sink; I always got a bit on my shirt and the bathroom. Dx Argh.

So now, I have another one... Rawr. >_<;;

My friend Rosa gets them all the time when she sleeps. She commonly wakes up to a bloody pillow, and all she can say is, "Shit!" DX Which is why she always has tissues for me. x3

Discuss~
Bloody noses and how evil they are! D:<

That's strange...did you eat a lot of raw fish in Japan?
That can thin the blood and give you nose bleeds more easily *nods*

Yes. Dx I didn't even like it. >->;;

Plus, altitude changes. I slept right when I got home for 15 hours and then had a bloody nose. Great way to greet your mom---with your nose dripping blood. xD

  • xD I didn't realize that sashimi did that. I eat it a lot when I'm at home...

    A couple of things causes me to get bloody noses.

    1. Lack of sleep. Wheel midterms and finals around the corner, and I will get bloody noses constantly. They usually come when I first wake up. I'll sit up and feel this wave of blood coming. It freaks my family out because, like you, they don't drip. They pour. I go through tons of tissues and cotton balls with the intent to STOP it, but it will keep going until it's satisfied. >_>;;

    2. Allergies. Back home, there's...a lot of green stuff. xD Pollen, especially those from trees really irritate me.

    3. Heat. Whenever I start burning up or it is really hot outside, I will bleed guaranteed. >_<; Hate it!

I get them every once and a while -- I get this really sharp pain right between my eyes, then it'll start up maybe about 30 minutes later.

The trick and remedy I've learned is, put something cold on the back of your neck and look up. This'll slow the blood flow, amazingly, therefore making it clot somewhat, and if you're lucky to catch it quick, you won't even get a nosebleed like you thought.

Holding my nose at the bone also seems to help me -- always tilt your head up though.

lol don't tilt your head up D<

BAD BAD BAD

common misconception....

when you tilt your head up your causing the blood to run down your throat, the easiest thing is to let it run its course and have your head tilted down with mild pressure on the arch of your nose...if you let the blood go down the back of your throat it can cause nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting...

keep your head above your heart (meaning dont put your head between your legs like when your sick) this slows the bloodflow..

o.o The only time I've gotten a bloody nose was when I hit myself in the nose my accident.

x.x That sounds horrible, getting a bloody nose so easily. Um... Put some ice on it? That's like, my cure for EVERYTHING.

  • ...yeah, I never tilt my head back when I have a bloody nose. >_<; I choked on my own blood before, because so MUCH went down my throat. After I coughed it up, the bathroom looked like someone was murdered there. It was so gross. T_T

I was actually just talking to a friend of mine about bloody noses. She apparently hets them quite frequently, but I have never had one in my life. Even when I faceplanted on the floor, no bloody nose. Chipped a tooth which cost a shitload to get fixed, but no bloody nose XD

@ Tori - Never tilt your head back when you have a bloody nose, its not a good idea. I swear, half the blood in your body goes down your throat and then you start coughing all over and spatting blood everywhere. I did it once in the living room and I got blood on the carpet and magazines my parents were reading. I swear, it looked like someone stabbed a pig in there. D=

@ Mocha - =P That's lucky. Once, I fell flat on my face before, and I didn't get a bloody nose either. But I did slam my knee against the pavement and have a bloody knee so bad I had to limp for the rest of the day. x.x

Thank you for the suggestions! :D It's fixed; it wasn't as bad as my usual ones. :3

I think it's because the room I'm sleeping in---I'm at my aunt's---is extremely dry at night. AND I don't drink enough. xD

Heh. If you get a nosebleed, just hold your head as straight up as possible. Apply pressure near the base, and maybe some ice would help too. Because I love my ice and its magical healing properties. xD

Good luck with that. =D

xD Yeah, I used some ice. And I held it straight, but I didn't apply pressure near the base. Dx Ohwell~ It was fine.

I don't get nosebleeds as frequently anymore, but I used to.

I remember being in first grade, and i got a nosebleed nearly every other day during the summer. >x<

I swear, I must have spent more time in the nurse's office than anyone else. xD At first, they always asked me if someone had hit me, but after a while, I think they kind of figured that I just had a lot of bloody noses. xDD

i always get nosebleeds at bad moments, though. Before an activity, before a trip, before school...

Nosebleeds are such pains. XDD for me, I have to stop whatever I'm doing, or else everything will get all bloody.

i remember once just letting the blood drip into the sink because I didn't want to use anymore tissues. xD

I've never had a nosebleed. I don't really want one, though. x) They don't sound very pleasant.

...I'm one of the lucky people who has never gotten a nosebleed, save the time my friend accidentally slammed his shoulder into my nose while we were playing football. My friend used to get nosebleeds all the time, though. I always felt bad for her, because they'd start in the middle of class and she'd have to run out the door, to avoid making a mess all over everything.

Are you sure you're okay? Maybe you should go check up, it doesnt sound very normal. I don't get nosebleed at all unless the heater is turned on for the first time in a while. Something to do with the gas pipe i think. Nosebleed is very annoying though since it only happens in the morning for me. I got school, work and lessons to go to, it's irritating!

My brother gets them in his sleep... Like, they are so horrible. One time, he got blood on the mirror, the toilet, the tub and the sink. It looked like someone killed someone in the bathroom.. XDD; But, it didn't hurt him. It was just so annoying.

Oh, I'm fine. It doesn't happen as often anymore. We WERE going to check it until they stopped. Now they just randomly come back. xD

xD;

I know that once my grandfather had to go to the hospital because he lost too much blood as a result of a very bug, very long nosebleed..

but then, he was really old and really sick, so that's probably why it was so extreme. And probably why he had to go to the hospital.

One of my ex boyfriends would get them often. It was interesting, because I've never known anyone else who's had one when I'm around. I've only had one once, and that was when I was in middle school and was beating the crap out of this one boy. He punched me in the nose just enough for a nosebleed, but he was too wimpy to do much of anything else. It felt really weird, but I can't really remember much else.

I never get bloody noses.
Even, like, the one time I've been punched in the face, it didn't bleed. It just sort of stung.

I can't imagine rando-blood pouring from my face, that must be really awkward XD
