Aww, I didn't see it when I looked out the window multiple times that night. xD I live in the middle of nowhere too, so uh, I guess it was because I didn't have my glasses on. @[email protected]
Sounds awesome though. :o |
Thats one thing I miss about Maine; Stars.
Even though Portland is one of, if not the biggest city in Maine, you could still see the stars and all of their beauty. Moving to Tampa made me realize how much I miss the small-yet-big cities. ; ; But, I did see a meteor the other day. It was August 12th, at 5:10 AM. I was at a friends house; My knees were jittery and i needed to have a nice walk around the neighborhood (generally I wouldnt given the time, but the neighborhood is filled with old people. No threat. Not to mention I know the area well :3). I was talking to my ex, who I currently miss very much, about getting back together, then i looked up, and lo and behold, I saw a shooting star. n_n Then he said "Im gonna kiss you again... even if I have to hold you down..." For some reason the act of seeing that star and reading that text are linked in my mind, which is why I mentioned it. Maybe my subconscious wants me to know something. x_x It was a very magical night. xD |
Oh I was out at midnight in the cold in the middle of no where with my friend Jess fighting wolves to watch that meteor shower! (ok we didn't really fight wolves, but we heard them which was weird enough.) Some of the meteors were so bright they lit up the entire sky it was amazing! I'd seen random shooting stars before last night but this was the first time I'd actually went to see a shower!

I sat from 10pm til 12am watching the meteor shower at angeles forest with my bf. We actually ended up lying on the hood of his car because it was the best way to see as much sky as possible. I think there were at least three or four really big ones we saw, and several others that were just really long.
And yeah, I come from Los Angeles with crazy smog and all that but all you have to know is where to go. It may not be as ideal as a desert but it certainly works well enough for the big showers. There's another one in Sept. that I'm going to try to make too. Besides, the amount of cars driving around there was already enough, it's probably a good thing most people are too oblivious to care. |
Awe, don't feel bad for big cities.
We do have stars too. O:  Unfortunately, the was an overcast night so I couldn't go out and see the showers. And Yes, I live in a big city, I live in Seattle. And I have property out towards the mountains where we go and lay out on the picnic tables and just.. watch. For hours. |
what?!?
there was a meteor shower!! aww...i missed it *cries* i love space and stuff, i always wanted to see a comet and both types of eclipses but a meteor shower, thats just awesomeness noes!! why do i always miss the cool stuff (was probably sleeping >.>) must have been like awesome...thought i would feel so enlightend and feel fear at the same time...once in a lifetime event it truly is...but i guess what happens happens *off to google to try and find videos* XD |
I've never seen a meteor shower in my life. I live in a big city now, Montreal. I used to love in a quiet city in Florida though and yet I never saw one. I lived in Gainesville, the home of the Gators (Florida University). I didn't even know there was going to be one. It must have been so cool. I would have felt all tingling and spiritual inside. It really is a once in a lifetime event. I hope I will see one someday!

Gah i didnt see it x.x lucky people.
|
I've never seen one. I don't live in a big cit, but I live near enough to a few that I see very few stars at night. I don't like stargazing and I wouldn't really care to see a meteor shower. Looking up at the sky makes me dizzy. I can't do so without risk of losing balance. It makes me feel like I'm going to fall up into the sky. I have reacurring nightmares featuring falling up. The thought makes me shudder. |
Nope D:.
|
I'd have loved to see that - though I wouldn't sacrifice living in London to.
|
I would love to have seen a meteor shower.
Occasionally we'll be able to see the comets and other large cosmic happenings out here, but nothing quite as fantastic as that. *sigh* Sometimes I miss being able to see the stars, but I'm not going to gripe at my living, either. |
I did go down to the beach to watch it, but it was way too cloudy, so we couldn't see it. D: I feel sorry for myself, actually.
|
Gahh, I wasn't there to where there was a meteor shower. Unless it showed in sparkles or something. xD
Where was it? |
I try to watch the showers when they happen, but I don’t always know what’s going on. I didn’t see last night’s since I was in a car the whole night driving and I didn’t know about it. I don’t watch the news or anything any more and I don’t know many people that are into that.
|
I didn't even know there was one. e.e; My sleep thing has been so outta whack that I didn't get a chance to see it. T.T Now I'm a bit depressed. xD I love watching stuff like that for some reason, even if it is only a couple minutes long. xD
|
I don't live in a city. I knew about the meteor shower, but I didn't get to see it. We all fell asleep before we even knew it was going on. We were down at my grandparents' camp, too. Had we not had such a long day and could have stayed awake, it would have been beautiful.
|
Well, I don't live in the city. I live in the mountains. Unfortunately, that meteor shower was blotted out by a combination of either the surrounding hills and/or the plant that operates 24 hours and spews exhaust into the sky.
:( I did not get to watch the meteor shower for that reason; no matter how much we searched, we could not see it. I vaguely remember seeing a shooting star when I was a child. The memory seems more dreamlike because we were at someone's house and I can't remember who. I was standing in their backyard and saw a star... Or at least, I think that's why I remember. I don't have much of a good grasp on recalling early childhood memories. |
There was? And I missed it?!
I didn't know about it, so I don't know. xP It must have been really cool. :3 I've never seen a shooting star, let alone a meteor shower. I need to be more updated. xP |
I was unable to last night due to the jet lag I'm currently going throu XD ha.
I have seen a few before thou. When I was at my friends lake cabin in idaho (You can see the sky really well out there cause there is nothing out there XD;;; ) we saw one and stayed out till about 2am and only went in cause we were freezing. its really pretty to watch thou. ^^ |
I have never seen a meteor shower. :[
I wish I had tought. I live in a ninth floor, so I have easy access to the roof. |
No I didn't watch it and am not sure if I've ever seen one. And I didn't even know there was one last night.
|
I've heard about that last year too! Me and my friends were talking on the phone then suddenly, someone said "So, are you guys going to watch the meteor shower tonight?" We were like "Like, the sky is full of clouds, do you think we'll be able to see it?"
in the end, we didn't see the meteor shower, because of the clouds that are blocking the sky T___T |
(I can copy and paste it as much as I can! Bish!)
Have you ever seen a meteor shower? Never. It's sad, I've heard that there would be one a certain time and I'll get all prepared but somehow I always forget about it. lol Did you see last nights? >.>;; Noo. ;-; Did you even know about it? lol Nope! I didn't even hear anything about it on the news. But that was only for a few seconds. lol Don't copy and paste it because it's a lame way to earn gold, coming from a kid who use to make constant threads and posts in almost every single thread. lol I say your trying to make gold too buddy. ;D |
I live in a huge city, too many lights, even if I had wanted to I wouldn't have been able to see it. ]:
