How could there not be a thread about favorite foods? Along with art and music, food is one of my passions.
What's your favorite type of food? What's your favorite flavor? What's your favorite food?
My favorite food type is Japanese. My favorite flavor is teriyake. And my favorite food is teriyake beef. I love Japanese food because it's so flavorful and healthy. Sushi is delicious. Salmon sashimi, teriyake chicken, crab. Yumyumyum. Sushi has to be one of the greatest foods. Oh, and miso soup. It's one of the most delicious and healthy things one could eat; made from a fish based broth, or some other vegetarian alternative, and usually has seaweed and/or tofu.
Let's talk food!

I eat chinese everyday (my dad is a cook) so I voted for Oriental in the poll.
My dad makes really good food all the time but my favorite dish would be Chinese vegetable (choi sum) with rice and (zha sui) which I think is called roast pork chop or something.
What my dad can't cook at home would be Dim Sum, especially shrimp dumplings, sui mai, fried turnip pudding.
But, since I rarely do at home, my favorite food of all times would be chips, fries, and Dr. Pepper. ^o^ just because it's a delicacy to me and I know it's cheap to buy.

Well, Italian food is comfort food to me. So, it wins hands down. It's also the food I grew up on (being of Italian heritage.) Pizza, panzerotti (aka calzone), lasagna, veal sandwiches... the list could go on.
As for another cuisine - Japanese. I've not been able to have a huge range but what I've tried, I love.
I enjoy trying different foods though, so it's hard to pick one culture's foods over another.

there certainly will be a thread about favourite foods, but it will be many pages back so it's probably ok for another one now.
Italian and Mexican food are joint tops for me. i had a meal in a restaurant that specialised in both countries cuisine and i hade the devil of a time choosing what to eat.
I also love Chinese/Thai food, and Indian too, but anything really tasy and a bit spicy has me coming back for more.
Though some good old fashioned British grub makes me happy too, can't beat a traditional Sunday roast 8)

@life in red and black: You're so lucky! My family is the "all american" type, so I rarely get any sort of culture, especially when it involves food.
I love italian food. Italians sure do know their food. But alot of it makes me feel sick. My favorite italian dish is chicken alfredo, but it's a dish that makes me feel horrible afterwards. I remember getting some garlic chicken with some sort of pasta or something the last time I went to an italian restaurant, and I couldn't eat enough. I almost stole some of my girlfriends food :]

re: Nathuram
It's not as good as you think. Since my pallete has been brought up by eating chinese food, I can't seem to stomach other types as well... for example, cheese and sandwiches don't go well with me... Plus, my friends used to stare whenever I bring lunch to school, and they're like "You're so lucky!" when all I wanted was their chips and junk foods instead of fried rice, etc. Lol. But yea, my pallete is spoiled. :3

- My top favorite foods are (in no particular order): Korean, Chinese, and Mexican. I like some Japanese foods...but I find a lot of them bland. When it comes to things like pickled vegetables, I always prefer Korean types because the Japanese ones tend to be sweet or tasteless. I DO love udon, torikatsu (this name just humors me ;D), sashimi and miso soup. I can eat a whole slab of raw Ahi tuna on cabbage and rice with shoyu and Chinese hot mustard by myself. xD
Korean food just wins for me, because I love spicy foods.
I like Mexican cuisine for the tomatoes, rice, and cheese...Great...now I'm hungry. D:
I used to have to listen to two of my past roommates complain...because I'm not a fan of Italian food. I find most of them kind of tasteless. But I discovered I'm not in tuned to ALL spices...I have a hard time even attempting to eat Indian food...^^;;

Mmm Italian food by far. <3 Being Italian at heart, and having grandparents who can do some amazing Italian cooking, I've grown up with like, delicious pasta, bread, pizza, etc. Also, the food in Italy itself is so, so yummy.
Although Japanese/Chinese food can be okay too. Teriyaki..!

This is so hard. I love Italian food and could probably live on Chinese food. There was a wonderful little Thai restaurant in New York that we went to. Mexican food... I'm in Arizona so that is around in abundance.
I love stuffed ravioli and Mongolian beef and tiramisu... I love food and I love cooking so it's hard for me to pick only one.
And I'm hooked on coffee too :)

I love spicy food as well. My ideal location is Asia, somewhere near the Chinese coast. I'd just travel around and eat. Yum.

The Thai dish I had in New York was some sort of spicy noodle with basil and shrimp and veggies. It was sooo good. I went back and got more for the plane ride home.
I like spicy food as well and what is cool is that there are different types of spicy.

Anything with potatoes in it is tasty in my book. I particullarly love red skin potatoes, cooked whole/cut/mashed/whatever else.
Dark chocolate is a weakness, as is anything else sweet.

Chinese food! The crappy Americanized stuff you get at cheap buffets especially. I love the dumplings they serve. And Seafood, which I suppose count as American food.
Japanese food as in Pocky, Yanyan, Kasugai...sweets and stuff...those are good. Sushi is okay, but nothing to go crazy and rave over. As for Miso and Udon (which I confused I think....shoot)...um...I don't like the bean paste one and the other one is pretty good. And ramen is okay, but the only stuff you can get in the US is the salty junk.
Of course, I love Mexican and Italian too, but Oriental Food is my aboslute favorite. MMm... <3

I live in a super small city, so we don't have many places to eat foreign foods where the bills doesn't add up to be like, 200$+. @ [email protected]
There is an Asian sweet shop, though. They sell really cheap huge bags of candy which are either gross or delicious. Like these marshmallow candies with pudding in them which are yummy, or White Rabbit candies, which I don't like, but are hard as rocks.
..I had Chinese once, it was super, but I was like 7 so I don't remember it very well. D:

My favourite food would have to be Sushi. I love Japanese style food. My favourite flavour? Ooh, thats a hard one. I can't really answer that, but oh well. I have an absolute passion for tempura and california rolls. x] And squid. I also love Chinese food. It's also very delicious. :3
