I don't think the internet is evil...
Of course there are a lot of bad stuff coming from the internet, but there is also a lot of good things... It's just like everything else... Internet is only evil because the people using it are evil... or rather, some people using it are evil... Besides there is a very small chance that something hideous will happen to you because of the internet, and I know it sounds ignorant, but it is the truth... I do feel sorry for peopl who go through bad stuff because of the internet, and I have nothing but disgust for the people who abuse its possibilities, and sometimes I really wish they would shut down the internet... But as you can see, I use it quite a lot myself, and I don't REALLY want it to be shut down, nor do I think it will be shut down... it's too helpful and all that.... ^^ I like the internet As for the Antichrist thing - NO... Since Jesus was only good (If you believe it) the Antichrist would have to be only evil for it to be appropriate to call him Antichrist.... There's too much good things coming out from the internet for that to be the case ^^ |

In all honesty, I doubt that it was the internet that changed them into Anon. They're probably just like that anyways, it's just that the internet gives them more of a chance to come together. That's all it is, no more, no less.
And the internet won't be shut down no matter what happens. Too many businesses use it, the government uses it... everyone does. If it were to be shut down, life would drastically change for the entire world. But that's not going to happen. It's not the internet that's evil, it's just people who use it. It's okay, really. There are people everywhere who do more harm than good, it's a fact of life. |
Bad? Possibly. Depends how you work it.
Evil? Highly doubt it. Compare all of the good things to the bad things. You can make friends, go shopping, keep in contact, watch TV, play games, almost anything! You just need to watch who you talk to and what you sign up on. (Like Paypal for instance. *neenjah*) I don't think shutting it down would be the right course of action though. Thats like, trying to reverse the technological revolution. Thousands of people would be out of jobs and would lose connections to people they've befriended in an instant. Not good for those of us who network online D: |
I will agree that the internet can be used for evil, but it can't be evil itself, the internet isn't a person. A lot of people do use it just to be down right mean or to steal from others. We had problems with people before the internet though, it's just another, easier way to do wrong.

The internet isn't evil. Some people use it for bad things, but the internet itself isn't evil. That's like saying that a gun is evil for shooting a person, when we all know that the gun didn't kill them, the person who pulled the trigger did.
I don't think the internet changes anyone. It just brings out characteristics that were already there. |

Yes, the Internet warps your personality. It changes the way you present yourself, allowing you to become something you're not. And no one else will ever know the difference. It allows you to say things without any backlash. This isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I use the Internet mainly for debate forums. They allow me to develop my beliefs and values, forcing me to research subjects until I have a stance of my own. Yet when it comes to debating in real life, I just can't follow the same set of guidelines. I'm much too...shy, I suppose...to really verbally debate with someone. But on here, I have no problem with listing out my argument and calling other users out. So: Internet has strange abilities, it just depends on how you use it. |

These people were warped to begin with. Thats like blaming McDonalds because you're fat :/ It's called personal responsibility and people need to stop blaming things like the internet, video games, television, etc for their problems.
Oh, and I love that vid about About Anon, I about pissed my self from laughter the first time I saw it XD Dude, they got a freaking DOG to protect themselves from Anon, come on. They acted like 4chan is some huge secret society of hackers when it's not :/ Honestly, Fox news likes to sensationalize. |
Sure, the internet makes some people more anti-social, kids use it for cyberbullying, perverts use it for porn and evil people use it for scams and terrorists use it for ...terrorist forums or something like that I saw on CNN.
But the internet also makes people smarter!! I've been exposed to all sorts of different things because of the internet, like English people and the types of ice cream people eat in India and all sorts of crazy fun stuff. And the internet made me almost less anti-social...well, perhaps thats an exaggeration. But yeah. Nothing can be completely perfect. There's two (or more) sides to everything, including the internet. SO yeah, its evil, but its also incredibly useful and helpful. You can say the same about needles- doctors use them to give vaccines to people to save their lives, but druggies use them to get high. :X And I though the Anti-Christ was gonna be some snazzy guy in a black suit....damn you History Channel and your weird glorifications! XD |

Everything will be used for bad and good, as long as it is used by us, and for good. Theres really no way to stop it, cause its like Ying and Yang. |
I've definitely matured and learned a little more about the world and life after getting into the internet...
good thing or bad thing? I think I've lost most of my innocence to the world... haha. There's not much sheltering on websites and chatrooms... my dad can't monitor what I do online, so I started to abuse this freedom. On the otherhand, I've become less shy and more outgoing after finding so many friends online ^o^ If there wasn't the Internet, I wouldn't meet all these fellow Menewshans!! |

But anything can be used for good. Or evil. I don't think the internet is evil. It's more neutral, since you can do just about everything on it, good or bad. Really the inter does nothing but exist, it is neutral and there for anyone and everyone. Though, it is not meant fr stoopid people. |

The internet is both good and evil all wrapped into one. Good because of places like Menewsha where you can meet people to talk to and have fun. Also, there’s pretty much an endless source of information out there on the web. It’s bad for that very reason too depending on what you look up. Plus there’s stuff like child porn and things like that that I’m assuming can be found easy, which is a bad thing along with telling people how to make destructive devices such as bombs.

Internet not only changes you in ways like swearing, and becoming angrly easily, but it prevents you from enjoying life, doing homework, and also leads you into cyber s3x, drugs, p0rn, and other dangerous things. Especially msn and online chat rooms. Its so dangerous! I haven't been hacked before but once on msn, somebody hacked into my best friends account, and started telling me scary things like: "I know where you live, Danielle. You have brown hair and stand about 166 cm tall on -------- blvd. in -------, canada. You go to ----------- school, And i'm going to f***ing kill you! I love u so much, so ima kill u ****!!" And I was scared for days because I had e-mails like this, too. but then they stopped after a few days, I geuss he/she got bored? P.S. That news thing? Pretty scary!! |

I whole heartedly disagree.
Not with the fact that there's bad on the internet but with the idea that the internet is the cause of evil. Anytime you get a large (incredibly large in this case) groups of people and give them the ability to express themselves in whatever way they see fit there's going to be bad but do not demean the incredible amounts of good that come from the internet by suggesting that it is inherently evil. Understand that this evil you speak of stems not from the worldwide web but rather human instinct. Furthermore, please know that the internet is not composed solely of social networking sites, forums, and chat sites. While these make up most of the internet community the internet is primarily a tool to share information, do research, learn, and communicate fast. It allows us to learn without the type of schooling it took years ago, it allows us to find facts fast an efficiently, find recipes, and network in ways that we're hardly imaginable before the internet. The internet is your friend. :] |
