Oh wow, I think this thread is a really neat idea but sadly I can't cook. Well I can *know how* but I do not like it.

I hope to practice cooking things of more skill (larger dinners) when I get settled again so that when I am on my own and want to have company I can prepare a nice meal myself instead of mac-and-cheese. XD

I'll have to come back when I got more time and read this more in depth as this is interesting. ^^

Mmmm . . .that mushroom parm sounds really good! I'm going to have to make that - it's always nice to find vegetarian recipes :)

Recipe for thin French crepes with honey butter!
A fast and easy recipe for light and delicious French crepes. ^^ Can be served for lunch with meat or veggies, for breakfast with fruit, or for dessert with whipped creme or honey butter. :]
Cook Time: 25min and about 5-7min prep time.
Servings: Very varied. Depends on the width and thickness of them. About 12 when I make them.
Ingredients:Crepes:
* 2 cups milk
* 4 1/2 tablespoons melted and unsalted butter
* 3 eggs
* 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 tablespoons sugar
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
Honey butter:
* Honey
* Butter
(Amounts are up to makers discretion)
How to made:
  • Place the milk, eggs, and vanilla in a big bowl and mix together.
  • Add the sugar, salt, flour, and melted butter into the bowl and stir until mixture is well blended.
  • Heat a crepe pan, skillet, or regular pan that has been greased or buttered to medium heat. When the pan or skillet is hot pour about 1/4 cup of batter into the pan/skillet. Remember that French crepes are very very thin. The thiner the better!
  • Tip the pan/skillet around until the batter spreads to the edges. Allow the crepe to cook until the crepe is bubbling and the edges are dry. Flip the crepe with a thin spatula. Cook for about 10-20 seconds on the other side and then gently place crepe on a plate.
  • Repeat until you've made all the crepes you like.
  • Place a chunk of butter in a cup, bowl, or measuring cup. Pour a slightly less amount of honey into your container of choice. Heat in microwave for 30 seconds. Stir.
  • If honey butter is not a liquid place it in the microwave for a little longer otherwise simply pour the desired amount of honey butter onto a crepe and wrap. Enjoy!~
  • If you're not a fan of honey you can serve with wipped creme, fruit, chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, jam, cheeses, and/or another filling of your choice. The nice thing about crepes is that they're light and can be filled with virtually anything. Be creative. <3
Calories: Approx 155 each not including the filling. :]

I also have pictures of these crepes and a vegan version if anyone's interested. ^^

thin French crepes with honey butter omg that sounds so good... Like to death for good!!! ♥

I enjoy cooking but we never have food in the house

Ali The Dairy Queen 10-02-2007 02:26 AM

Lilim: They're amazing. I make them about once a month for my family and often give them along with gifts. A nice big bunch of them wrapped in a beautiful cloth and ribbon make a wonderful gift. <33

No food? D: I take it you don't do the shopping in your home. Why not make a grocery list for your parents/husband/whoever's doing groceries? Then you can get exactly what you want. ^^ Unless of course finances are the issue.

Lilim 10-02-2007 02:57 AM

We;re never home enough too cook

Recipe for Doritos Crunch Potato Wedges!
Cook Time: like 45 min
Servings: three people
Ingredients:
End-of-the-bag Cool Ranch Doritos
5 red skinned potatoes
2 cloves of garlic
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup Parmesan chease
How to make:
  1. Set oven for 375 degrees F.
  2. Chop up the garlic and then combine with melted butter
  3. Cut up the potatoes into wedges (the smaller the crunchier) lay them out on a baking sheet and drizzle the garlic butter on them.
  4. Mash up what's left of the Doritos and sprinkle them on the potatoes.
  5. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
  6. After they get a little crispy toss them around and turn them over. Bake them till they are crunchy looking.

It's not an exact science... I made it up last night. You can add breadcrumbs for a crisper wedge... and seasonings if you want. For instance... I think next time I might add some Adobo... my fave spice ^.^

This isn't the most nutritious of meals... so if your on a diet I would stay away from this recipe
