She wanted to settle the case for a certain amount, but McDonalds wouldn't.

When I first read the article, I thought it was from The Onion. They'd be the ones to publish something like that. I still have a bit of a hard time believing that this was a serious incident. Ah well - The world is turning into a messed up place. This only give me one more excuse not to go to a fast food chain ever again.

What state was this in? That is so ridiculous, I can't believe they actually arrested her, and if they were going to be that stupid, why didn't they arrest the supervisor? I remember a few years ago McDonalds was sued by a woman because she got a cup of coffee through the drive through and put it between her legs, it spilled and of course burned her. She actually won, that's why they put caution hot on the cups now. I'm sorry but, when you get coffee, you know it's going to be hot so if you stick it between your legs and get burned, that's your problem. It's amazing, some of the idiotic things that are allowed to happen in this country.

^ That woman didn't win because she was being stupid (although she was). She won because that particular McDonalds, as well as a bunch of others in the surrounding area, were heating up their coffee past the boiling point. The handbooks specified exactly how high they were allowed to make the temperature, and their coffee exceeded it by almost 100 degrees. They had already been warned twice before. That woman just had the right timing, that's all.

The human race has obviously lost whatever intelligence that makes us "better" than the rest of the living things in the animal kingdom, if we're wasting our money in taking someone to court for putting salt on a hamburger. March up to the counter and demand a refund? Sure. Scream at the manager for the lack of quality? Whatever, go with it. But taking someone to COURT for something like that? For the love of God, that's is one of the most stupid things I've ever heard in my entire life. Not to mention, how petty these people must be to take a matter like this into the hand of the law. Its just a burger. Its not the worth the time, money, and effort of suing someone and sending for tests to be done and all that other crap. o_O;

That's exactly what I thought! If anyone was to blame, it certainly wasn't the poor server. She did the right thing to go to her supervisor. Whatever the supervisor was thinking had nothing to do with the worker.

• Apparently, the reason that a new burger wasn't prepared was because some of the people at that McDonalds wanted to save money since the people had been supposedly wasting too much meat. Dunno if it was mentioned in the article you posted, but I read that in another one. It was served to a police officer also. xD

Things like that makes me question what the heck’s wrong with people. For god’s sake, it’s McDonald’s…The amount of sodium in the burgers is horrible to begin with so I don’t see the point in making a big deal out of it and sending the poor woman to jail over something as stupid as spilling salt on a already unhealthy burger. That goes to prove that some people really need lives. It’s not right to mess someone’s life up over a salty burger. The story reminds me of a kid that throws a temper tantrum over not getting the toy they wanted.

It probably happens all the time, and usually not taken seriously... who ever decided to take it seriously is going too far.

Our prisons are all over the capacity for safety reasons, and remember that tax payers pay for the prisons, and this is one of the reason the prisons are so packed.

America's founding fathers includes a high percentage of lawyers. In American, it seems you can sue people for the most trivial things.

I heard about this, and can't help wondering what this world is coming to when people get arrested for spilling salt on a burger. I agree that she shouldn't have served it to a customer, but it seems that everyone involved is overreacting. Besides, it was a McDonalds burger, right? So the guy probably paid under $3 for it. And McDonalds isn't exactly gourmet quality.
