Oversalted Burger Leads to Charges

I could understand how someone would be annoyed if they found out that one of the McDonald's employees had accidently knocked out some of the salt onto one of their burgers. Sure, I am curious on why she decided to serve the burger to a customer even after the mishap in the small cooking area. But arresting someone because of it? No. You know what normal people do? They march their butts right up to their counter and complain. Not go for the bullshit reasoning and give them a ticket to jail. "Without reards to the well being..." my ass. A little extra salt might not be healthy but it will not kill you. HELL, THEY WERE EATING FROM A FAST FOOD JOINT. Which is not even that healthy in the first place. And sending the burger to get tested? Yeah. I am sure that the state's tax payers are happy about that. [ article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070909/...d_salty_burger ] |
What bugs me is that she told her supervisor about it... The supervisor tried thumping the salt off but rather than discarding the burger and telling her to make another, allowed her to serve it... Or more likely, told her to do so... Yet they aren't the one in jail...
|
I used to work at a Wendy's. We never cared if we screwed up someone's food for more an a half second. They should have arrested us all for some of the things we did....
|
W.T.F.
People will do anything to sent someone to jail these days. They tested the burger? Lol. "Hmm, look, a burger *looks inside*" "Hmm, salt" "Hmm...I need to get a new job" |
well considering that jail is better than home for some it makes sense.
|
lol at kimu. That was funny.
That's a pretty whacked out story though. I say, if someone can be arrested for serving food "without regards to the well-being of anyone who might consume it," then we may as well shut down most of the food industry. It's not like McDonalds has ever cared about the well-being of their customers, so long as they keep them. I swear, people get arrested for the weirdest things these days, and people spend a lot of time writing up strange laws, suing each other, and calling the cops over minor grievances. I swear, it's like people think that they can get through life without ever experiencing any inconveniences, let alone hardship. |
D: Why don't they go arresting the bugger-faces that spit in milkshakes, Huah?? And maaan, I would so be in jail if those guys got to me when I worked fast-food. "OMG, she punched a BOX! I'm going to die cause my food touched cardboard! Plastic splinters!" "She was too perky! *gasp* Her smile rubbed me wrong!" This all comes down to people being too damn sensitive about junk! And Sheesh, 'Thumbing it' (the salt) off? Real smart. It's not that hard to press down another patty and say "'Scuse me, but it's going to be another minete." and then spew nonsense about how we want you to 'have the very best food and service'. Not that hard to lie through your teeth. Then again, she might have been tossed in jail for "Disregard to a persons hunger" or some such. Eating too much salt shouldn't be able to kill someone unless thier allergic to salt. And then darn-it, it's you're own fault. D< ONE- it's a fast food joint. TWO- When I worked, all you had to do was say NO SALT and we would have cooked up a seperate batch of fries, and did a quickie clean of the grill where the salt was (grabbing a new spatula), and cook you an unsalted burger. Bleh, I've made no sense, but maybe it's because I feel with the worker about this. |
That is officially the stupidest case I've ever heard of. You can't top that.
I suspect the ONLY reason that person was arrested was because the guy lodging a complaint was a cop. $1000 bail? WTF? :talk2hand: |
Wonders will never cease! I swear if someone tried that in England they'd be thrown into jail for wasting police time not the person serving them. Whiney spoilt brats.
|
And yet they never arrested the people who put dog food in our taco tico meat....
This is a gross misuse of our justice system and I swear to god peopl better bitch and gripe about it. |
|
How do you arrest someone over this? :( It actually was a policeman that ate it and then went back and questioned her. Totally an abuse of power. And its not the server's fault- she told the manager who said it was okay to keep the meat [instead of throwing it all away and 'wasting' it].
|
This is really funny seeing as how I start work at a McDonalds tomorrow >.< Gotta remember to not spill salt on mah burgers >.<

I agree. That the police officer did was a clear abuse of power. I am pretty sure because the last time I checked having some extra salt on the burger was not against the laws. The whole situation on how she did not think of his well-being was pratically bullshit. By the cop's logic he should arrest himself because he is not looking out for his own "well-being" by going out to a fast food resturant. (And seriously. The burgers, the fries, and anything else is already loaded with salt.) I know as a fact that not caring about someone's well-being is far from being illegeal. |
Human race = Fncked!
People will sue anyone for anything these days. A while back i remember a report of some american woman sueing Macky D's (here in england) because the burger she ordered wasn't big enough!!! (The McDonalds in the uk have a diferent sizing system. A large here being the equivilent of a Medium/regular in america, and a Regular being a small they no longer sell supersize). it's totaly rediculous. |
Unless maybe you're down south -still cannot get over her enourmous regular drink from the cinema- I never heard of her, did she win?
|

actualy now i think about it i never asked.... i just asumed that she didn't because of how bloody rediculous it is.... if she did i have even less faith in humanity than before |
Hehe I reckon you should look it up. I bet in America she'd have won easily. They allow some odd cases to be won.
|
If it was so salty and horrible, why did she eat it...? :?
People confuse the hell out of me. If people could only see how retarded they all were... D: |
Quote:
The cop did, and arrested her. |
The point is still valid, just subtract the s. If it was so salty why did he eat it and that is a very good question.

In first version of the story I saw online, the cop was a lady or somethin, so thats kinda stuck in my head. |
That's just awful.... People are so stupid.
That's.... Eh.... Probably about as bad as suing because the coffee was hot. People are stupid. The cop ate it........ Brilliant cop. Maybe they could've replaced it or something. But, yeah. You're at McDonald's and you expect something healthier??? |

Let me guess, it's in America? God I wish I lived somewhere else. The stupid and spoiled things people do here D= I hope you don't think we're all like that But, then again, I can say a lot of people where I am are like that. edit- It was georgia, and it was a cop XP |
