yep, exactly! What could be better other than maybe free clothes?
Seriously! :D
Yeah. I couldn't get the hang of knitting either. Teeny tiny details make my hands tremble and mess up.
Once, a long time ago, I asked my mom to show me how to knit. After a brief demonstration and a few stitches, I found it to hard and boring and have not tried knitting since. Is it fun once you get the hang of it?
I hear it is. Hear it's good for when you're stressed too. What say you, Zane~?
I draw too much... but at let i'm good at it... >____<
Oooh, i love knitting! I'm next to no good at it, but it's very relaxing. I don't see anything at all wrong with you wanting to knit! More power to you :'3 |

I think its neat that you like to knit :D go for it, who cares what some people think!
I know how to knit and crochet, but I dont do it very often. |
I have been getting all these crazy ideas with out even finishing one thing, but when I finish one of the two scarves I am working on, I am going to fold the ends back enough and sew/knit it to were it has pockets in the ends of the scarf, and more than likely my Fiancé will be using it for work.

@Eight: Yes, very good for stress. |
Hehe! Guess what Zane? I cn knit too! I picked it up about a month ago...don't have much time to do it anymore though because of work.
I don't think it's wierd at all, somehow people have managed to label everything that exists and this has made us concerned to things we like :| I have always wanted to learn how to knit but never got around to it O_O
knitting is a rather relaxing and satisfying activity that keeps your hands busy. <3
I assume you're in high school where gender segregation is huge but I'd advice you not to define yourself and thus the things you should enjoy by your genitalia. It's fine for a straight man to enjoy all sorts of activities that are usually enjoyed and/or commonly related to women. ^^ Don't worry so much. Don't tell your peers if you'd like to keep it to yourself but I encourage you to explore both masculine and feminine activities. |
Am I really crazy for wanting to knit?
Nope, not at all. All this gender identifying, crap is annoying. Be who you are, I'm a girl who does "Male things", whatever. Have you taught yourself anything? Yes, I taught myself to read music, and play keyboard. I suck, but it's relaxing. xD Do you knit? No, I do not. xD I have been known to cross-stitch on occasion, though. -Shifeh eyes- On a more random note...cookies? Yes, please. =3 Chocolate chip if you will. =D |
Way to go!
I'm glad to hear another male is into Knitting. I personally don't know any men who knit, but that's probably because I don't know that many knitters. My guess is that if I actually joined a knitting group, I'm pretty sure they have them all over, I would meet more men who knit. If I can remember correctly, I learned the basic knitting techniques from my mom. And then I went to town on it. I still do. Especially when I get going on socks. |

I think it is perfectly fine for guys to knit. There is no reason why activities should be kept for one gender or the other, we need to do away with the old out of date stereotypes and just let people be people.
Exactly. Yeah is completely right. We need to let go of the old stereotypes and be who we are, don't worry about what other people think about the things you do with your life, it's your life after all. And if you let people control who you are, you aren't being true to yourself, right?
Advice is a different story. |
Well, I've obviously let go of the stereotype...I actually took my knitting with me to my Religious Education classes the other night (I'm a teacher aid) and a couple of the kids thought it was cool and wanted me to make them scarves....it was really an awesome thing.
I dont' think so. My friend learned how to knit, bought all this really beautiful wool off of e-bay for cheap, and now she's knitting scarves everyone for christmas, which is saving her a ton of cash, and they're beautiful. She's learning new techniques and patterns, its great. And it is something different to do.
I know how to quilt and cross stitch, and I still do. I dont' think that's to weird, although I must admit I'm generally to lazy to finish projects now so I just stil with video games. |
Yeah, so far I haven't been able to make any money off of it, but I hope to in a few months or so. It's really cool that your friend is also knitting and learning new techniques and everything.
I take mine everywhere, it is awesome to be able to take it with me because I get bored easy, and that is a cure to my boredom.
I take mine...not many places but only because I have nowhere to go ever. I'd probably take it more places though if I ever got out of town or whatever.
