I did go to the formal dances my boyfriend's fraternity organized. There were 2, the first was on a boat but I found out my boyfriend got a bit seasick ^^; The second was in the Hancock building in Chicago, it was a lot of fun, with dancing and some *bad* singing. I never went to my high school dances because they were really expensive and for the first 3 years, I didn't have anyone to go with.
Dress shopping is always a lot of fun but I was happy to finally get a chance to dance and spend an evening with him out (our town is kind of boring with not many 'date' places). |
i dont wike dresses and stuffs but i do wike goin 2 thoughs thingyies!!!
but no 1 ever asks meh out probably cuz im like so hyper allllllllll the time but oh wellz! :P |
Ughh, my schools dances are SO BAD.
Homecoming here was just this past Friday. My boyfriend and I stayed for about 2 minutes, before we left, and sat in the city park all night. Haha. |
I never go to the dances my school has. I do wear skirts almost every day though. My school has a uniform, and I hate the khaki pants. My plaid skirt in much nicer, thank you.

Dances? I'm a dancer, more dances for formal dances. I don't wear a dress, but I do where kilts XD.
I'm partial to dances though, they're just eh... |
I was disappointed with my school's homecoming; it wasn't formal at ALL.
Half the people were wearing jeans. D: |
xD;; I tend to wear skirts a lot. But I like jeans too. :'O And I usually wear a skirt over the jeans? So I'm not sure if that counts. xD;;<3
To be completely honest, I've never been to the kind of dance where I had to get dressed up. xD;; And the first dance I went to in the past..three years now was the Homecoming Dance. There's a football game before it...so no one wanted to break out the fancy dresses. xD;;<3 I have a few summer dresses I wear within every week. xD;;<3 but nothing fancy like. ^^ I don't like spending money on a fancy dress when I'm not even sure I'd wear it. This yeah, my junior prom is coming up. <33 xD;; And I fully plan to go shopping for a dress and have the day to "prepare." xD;; The thing is though, I really don't like showing much skin. xD;; So I might have to wear an eskimo suit. ; O; xD;;<3 Ahh~<3 But anyway. I got invited to prom both my freshmen and sophomore year. Needless to say I ducked out of it 'cause I didn't want to get dressed for the occasion. xD;;<3 My cousins and friends would try to convince me to go mainly because they wanted to "do my nails" and "my hair" and stuff. xD;;<3 But seriously. I get why people do it...but I don't know why a lot of them go out and spend so much money on a fancy dress that's good for the night, and spend a bajillion hours sitting in a chair with people putting crap in your hair. It's never made sense to me... xD;; but hey. This year, my boyfriend is planning on dragging me to Winter Formal (one of the dances you need to be semi-formal at... xD;;<3), the Valentine's Day Dance, and Prom. So I guess I do need to start bracing myself for the hours of hairspray and prettiful dresses, ne? xD;;<3 |
I don't normally wear skirts or dresses on a regular basis. Because I hate my legs. ^^; But I love getting dressed up for dances. ^^ Shopping's cool. <333 |
I'm probably the opposite. I absolutely hate homecoming. For me I just see it as an excuse for girls to start freaking out. Everyone, in my highschool atleast, just gets worked up over what group your going in and who your going with and blah blah blah. Plus spending $200 to get a dress, shoes, hair, and nails isn't my idea of fun. The actual dance itself isn't bad, it's just all that getting ready I don't like.
I've been wearing dresses more and more though. Casual ones of course, not the dressy ones you wear to dances. If I'm not wearing a dress, I'm wearing jeans so I like wearing dresses to mix it up a bit. |
Oh, fun! There was a BALL at my school on Saturday--they allegedly had a live swing band.
I didn't go because I didn't import my formalwear, and because I'm cheap ($10 a ticket for myself and my boyfriend when I've only got $30 for the next two weeks is more than I'd like to spend). But hopefully that'll happen again, because it sounds awesome. |
we never had a formal at our school. it was cancelled
why you ask, because the year before when the year above us had their formal they all got drunk, let in a drunk homeless guy, and the homeless guy walked into the gents and started smashing up all the toilets and flooding the hallway of the hotel the dance was held in. because we'd been named as officially a worse year than the year above us they decided not to risk it and took away our formal :S lol |
