Okay so technically, they are my dad's horses since I pretty much only wanted one of them, which I take care ofhim. But still, my dad made me go out there and clean ALL of the horses stalls and do all this other junk for the other horses when they aren't mine at all. They're race horses and I don't even get a cut of the pay off, get to name them, zip. It really sucks.
Anyone else here have horses or pets that aren't really theirs but they get stuck doing the work?

I used to have to look after my Dad's Alpacas. They were evil creatures. You'd think that when I fed them and cleaned them out every day for nearly two years that they'd have the smarts to realise that I was a friend and wasn't going to hurt them, but no. Stupid creatures used to panic every time they saw me, spit at me and kick me every chance they got >.<
I hated those animals.
In the end after one tried to attack my dog I refused to deal with them anymore and told my dad that if he wouldn't look after them, he'd better find someone else who would.
So he sold them :D
It was weird, as any other animal I've had for that long I get attached to. Chickens... even fish. But these alpacas had nothing nice about them at all. I was just relieved that they got a new home... far away from me.

I've never gotten stuck in a situation like that before... That really sucks.
The title reminded me of "If wishes were horses", though.... XD

i get that with my cats. i had one and when got another one the old one became my moms cat. then the one cat had kittens so one of the kittens is mine and the other is my brothers. but when they make a mess or do something bad all the cats become my cats. when there used to be separate litter boxes i had to clean them all so i finally gave up and out all the litter boxes into one, its just easier that way,

I used to have horses, but got rid of them because it was too much work. I was young at the time so it was hard for me to go to school and take care of them. I would eventually want another horse when I have the land.

You get a horse, right? Isn't that enough of a reward?
Holy cow, I would do anything for a horse. -_-

I have to clean horse stalls everyday too, but I do at least get an allowance.
But it isn't too fun, I agree. :(

I cleaned horse stalls for about a year for the Equine Rescue Association as a volunteer.
Believe it or not, some people volunteer to have that opportunity. For those of us who can't have horses, being able to care for them on a daily basis can be a good feeling.

Ha, that sounds like something similar to a situation that I have, but with dogs. I wanted this Yorkie that this person was selling, and so did my mom. Well we bought 2 of them and she makes me care and tend to both of them. I think she should have to look after one and I should have to as well. I don't know, parents are weird like that.

Horses seem like a lot of work, and I'm not sure I'd ever want to have the much responsibility for a pet. I like cats because they clean themselves, walk themselves, and cuddle up with you at night. They're pretty low maitnence.
I have a story about cats and horses though. My neighbors bought a new kitten for the daughter once year for Christmas. The daughter loved the kitten, but about a week later the dad accidentally stepped on the kitten and it ended up dying. To make it up to the daughter, the dad said he'd buy her two new kittens. However, this girl was smart and told the dad, "I want something that you can't step on, I want a horse!" And sure enough, they bought her a horse. The daughters in college now and can't take care of the horse herself, so now the poor dad is stuck doing all the horse work.

Wow. So, basically, you're complaining about cleaning up after them coz they're not yours.
If they were yours, would you still be complaining about it? D;
You are pretty lucky to have horses, some people would be quite jealous of you.

I had horses when I was married. I not only had to do most of the stall cleaning and such, but I was expected to take both out and ride them, since my now ex husband worked too much to have time for his horse.
It was hard to have an enjoyable ride when you could hear the horse left at home whinny, because he wanted to go too. Once in a while I could get my brother to come over and ride one of the horses with me, but not often.

Well, "technically" she's not a pet and "Technically" she's not mine either. But my little sister acts like and animal. And whenever she runs off anywhere I have to find her, and whenever she makes a mess I have to clean it. Dang Mom. So mean. D':
I don't even want her!!! (Sister I mean)

That sucks.
i used to have to clean up messes my sister left in my room. Then she stopped, thank god.
She'd come into my room, with crackers, dump them on the floor, and leave the wrapper in my room too. >_O
