I've noticed on forum based sites in general, topics like "what's your favorite color" tend to get a lot of attention and rack up pages of replies. I guess it's because those types of topics are easy to answer and you don't need to think about a response. In my mind, those types of topics are pretty much spam. (I hope I'm not being too hypocritical for I too have made some topics that are easy to answer, yet I try to provide a discussion along with them)

Off topic, but you spelt definitely correctly, you're pretty much my hero. It's probably my biggest pet peeve when people spell definitely wrong.

Trinitydoll 10-11-2007 03:39 AM

I hate those "what's your fave color" one line answer threds,...idk makes you lose your time I mean If I know I will only be able to write less than a line I dont even bother saying a word in there, sorry.
Guys I understand about having a life!! that makes this even more complicated, I have a life too, and a job, and a house and a family, but well, I was refering to the posts heheh >.< that is the time you are here you better use it to the maximun , got it? <3

Eserel 10-11-2007 04:31 AM

It certainly isn't. You must work for what you want. Even though you don't have to work very hard. >.>

risika7 10-11-2007 05:19 AM

I'm new here, but just from the day and a half I've lurked and posted about, I've noticed two things.
One people here are a hell of a lot nicer than on Gaia. There its ALL about the damn economy and not about getting to know others, and having fun, like a FORUM is supposed to be about.

Two: I like the fact that you have to work harder here, it makes it LESS more about the economy, and more about I want to have fun, and meet people, and enjoy my time online. If I earn gold by posting, great, its a side benefit, but that's NOT the MAIN reason I'm here.

So I find that its not for lazy people, if you're lazy gaia is for you. This place is for people who like challenges, and likes to meet new people and actually get to know them, not just be in a chatterbox type topic about "What is your fav color?" Like someone above me said.

Affinitas 10-11-2007 05:31 AM

hey risi what's your fav color hahaha!! joke!
i already know it xD i think we had enough
talks about it lmao!

risika7 10-11-2007 05:44 AM

LMAO TANNY!!! STALKER!!! You're a STALKER!!!

But as to my fav color. hehehe...yeah, just a bit.

On the actually topic of this though, another thing about laziness, and all that jazz, I like the fact that you're not allowed to JUST post a smiley, or JUST post LOL. Its something that yes, I did on gaia, but I still don't like it that much. (hypocritical aren't i?)

Kiralisha 10-11-2007 06:18 AM

That's what I love about this site... It actually promotes intelligent discussion and community. The people here actually have something to say and the atmosphere is so friendly. Yeah, it does take a bit of effort, but it's certainly worth it.

Kamikaze Krayonze 10-11-2007 06:33 AM

This is a very good site if you wish to actually TALK about something and make an answer that's more than just a sentence long. I joined out of curiosity (from GaiaOnline) and I thought this site was a bit iffy. But now that I can tell that the earning is a bit better, just as long as you dedicate yourself to actually having a discussion. I like the longer post - more gold thing, it actually encourages you to be more active than if you were on gaia.
Mer...prolly lost my point, but oh well. XD

Gaia...blur...it's a nice site and all and I love it, maybe I'll go here when I get a yearning for actual discussion that doesn't involve trolls, spammers or mean spirited prommies.

Already I see a difference in this General Discussion forum.
It doesn't make me run away in fear. XD

Kitzu 10-11-2007 06:46 AM

Aw, shucks! Well, I'll just have to start being unlazy then, won't I! Well...I'm not lazy just....Not motivated! :D

That's ok, I usually find myself angry that it's pretty much impossible to have a somewhat intelligent conversation at other sites. So I end up lurking. And that's not as fun as it's made out to be. But I can see there will be no lurking here, as much as I want to revert to my old habits. Well, not if I want clothing! Ha! Top that, ....Uh...Someone! :D

So, everyone, make interesting topics so we will have fun while being motivated! (Uh oh, I'm not making much sense anymore, it must be bed time! xD)

Andie_Chan 10-11-2007 07:02 AM

I agree. This site is most definitely not for lazy people. If you're not going to be dedicated enough to make the effort towards earning the gold, then this site probably isn't for you.

I know I'm new here, but it's obvious enough for me to say that, right...? I don't want to seem like I'm stepping on anyone's toes by saying it. x3x;

The system is a lot different from the other forum I frequent, Gaia, but I've been on Gaia for a long time, and it's always very nice to have a change every now and again. I'm willing to be dedicated and make my effort towards getting my gold. x3

It's kind of difficult so far, though, with so many topics to choose from. I like roleplay, but I'd feel odd if I just jumped into one without knowing anybody. I'm a fairly decent roleplayer, I think...

GOSH. Okay. I really, really need to stop rambling. D:

Aeisha 10-11-2007 08:28 AM

A lot of the time I don't have time for extended debate's so I try to post my entire opinion in one post.Other times I just loose my train of thought all at once. But I do agree with your point. If your not ready to make an effort in a post then your not going to get anywhere. In a way I think this is a good thing because although it drives many people away from the site, it is really just deferring people away from spamming and bumping since doing that gives little gain.

Coyote-Walker 10-11-2007 12:46 PM

I'm more of a lurker really, I like to read what other people had to say to a topic before I respond myself. I'm generally not very good at putting more then a few words into a reply unless it's something I feel strongly about or something I think deserves a longer reply. It's not that I'm (or anyone else who may have responded to you in short answerers) not intelligent, it's just that I don't have much to say about whatever the topic may be.

You are right. This site does take more effort to stay of then some others do. I just came over from gaia and already it feels like this site demands more from me then gaia does, at the same time though I'm glad to see less annoying n00bs who spam and bump a thread to death.

It's sort of a 50/50 I suppose.

Yeah 10-11-2007 12:57 PM

Well Trinity, some of us just have less to say than others. I by nature am not a talkative person and tend to make my point and be done with it. If I don't feel I have anything of importance to say, I don't say anything. It's not laziness, it's just "lurkerness".

Raine Baelia 10-11-2007 04:02 PM

I'm not lazy, but i am a professional lurker, so this does make it hard for me, but I'm trying!

YxurPxisnMxrphin 10-11-2007 04:06 PM

I've just joined this site but it has become very apparent to me that this is a site with people who do post alaberated topics.

Zephyr the Hunter 10-11-2007 04:44 PM

I think it's amazing how many people join forums when they don't effing read the topic posts of the topics they're in! I'm brand new to this site so all I really have to go off of is Gaia. Most people just BS their way through a post or spam the topic. One of the things I miss about Gaia from the 03-04 years was that darn near everyone on the site back then had something to say. They would read more than one post, they would post their opinions or their argument with facts backing up what they said and would contribute to the thread. It was also a smaller community back then so being an ass was hard to do if you still wanted to be anonymous.

I think one of the things I'm hoping for on this site is that since it's a fairly small community (at least from what I've seen/read) there's still a good amount of discussion to be had and the community is more connected.

Admonish Misconstruction 10-11-2007 07:51 PM

I think your right.

trollfaice 10-11-2007 07:53 PM

yeah i know D;

littleaes 10-11-2007 07:56 PM

I agree... These things are more than just "Oh I'll just type something for the sake of doing it..." You shouldn't post unless you really have something you want people to see. And elaborating is good! After all, It's hard to get a point across for real in a single word, isn't it? ^^

...says the one who posts one liners rather often lately xD

Misfit 10-11-2007 07:58 PM

I think that it is absolutely ridiculous to post something in this site if it's not a few sentences long. The point to making gold in this site is longer posts give you more gold. And rules are set in so no one can just spam their way to being wealthy, so what's left? Lengthy, meaningful and intelligent posts. Why do people tend to do otherwise, I don't know. Maybe they don't care about the gold.

I actually could care less about the gold I get... That's just a bonus to me. I post because I have something I desperately want to say or get off my chest. I feel it's got nothing to do with the gold. Not for me, anyway. xD

Trinitydoll 10-11-2007 08:06 PM

Well I think It takes sometime to learn how this site works and all and you also learn from people's posts aswell.
Now for the people who sais they were lurkers I have to tell you guys believe it or not I am too, I mean whileI was at Gaia I used to obtain my items mostly from friends' donations and talking to friends on pms etc, but not really focused on posting in public, though when I joined here I understood my online life would be nothing if I didnt do the effort to be more open and talkatibe otherwise it would take ages for me to get an item, so I changed my way of being, it was hard and at the beginning I wasnt really enjoying it much, but then I got used to it and found friends to talk to so it made it lot easier =)

mystic kiwi 10-11-2007 08:09 PM

I think it’s annoying when people always answer with one line of text. Most topics you can write more than that about. If there is an actual discussion in the topic it shouldn’t be too hard to state your opinion in a short paragraph. That’s one reason I left another avatar fourm. There was just no intelligent conversation or any topics that interested me because people were so immature and posting dumb things, but that’s a whole other topic on its own.

littleaes 10-11-2007 08:09 PM

I've always been a chatterbox. I learned how to be one from my family, in reality, despite my seemingly shy demeanor. I first learned how to become more open online five years ago when I was playing on a chat-like thing from Japan called Renas Room (it has newer names now, such as .hack//chat or KYAT, of course ._.). On Gaia, I wasn't too socialable at first, but I got used to it... And that's why I started talking pretty fast here =D

Asberestos 10-11-2007 10:53 PM

Yeah, a lot of people on these kinds of sites in general are lazy and don't really want to work to actually earn anything.
At least the people who post one-liners are better than people who try to get what they want through hacking/scamming, etc, though. o_O;

Personally, I sometimes answer with relatively long posts, and sometimes don't have too much to say on the topic, and end up posting only a line or two. It depends on the topic at hand.
Of course, I've only been on the site since tonight. xD; But it's not my first avatar site/forum.
