Class Poll
I am doing a poll for a class on the downloading debate.
We were picked to be pro downloading, and I was just woulder the thought fo some people about my age. If you pick for..please explain (if you would) Plesae post and vote..thanks (It will be open till Octobe 19) |
I picked for because I would be a hypocrite if I didn't! I download stuff all the time! its convenant and cheap! I'm not saying its right or wrong but I see no real problem with it so I do it.

I used to download music illegally all the time. That was before iTunes, for the most part. I'm against it now, because i just use iTunes :'3 Easy, cheap, and fair! What class is this for, Donut? |

I am for downloading the LEGAL way... i do not think that people should do it illegal... There is alot of people that have to work to get something produced into a cd and things..
Downloading and paying for songs is perfedtly fine though, it's convient and you get to have only the songs that you want to have. You do not have to buy all the songs on cd just to get the couple you like and a bunch you do not want.... instore prices for cd's are expensive... but hey people are just making a living off of it.. |

Anyhow, I'm against pirating. It's theft and I'm not pro-theft. I use iTunes and pay for the stuff I want to download. If I can't afford it, I do without. Same as anything else in life. I may want lots of music, but I don't think that gives me the right to steal it anymore than me wanting lots of CD's would give me the right to walk into a store and steal a bunch of them. |
I download illegally, but I wish I didn't have to.
I could never agree to all the terms on iTunes, nor do I have an iPod, so buying my music there would be absolutely pointless. I don't trust many of the music buying sites, nor do I have a card which will allow me to buy music online. I'm 17! I can't go running to mum whenever I want new music, I just can't! I buy CD's when I have the money for it, and when I actually find the CD's I want. I usually have some problems with that; I live in Norway and the stores rarely have the music I'm looking for, especially at a decent price. It's usually almost twice the average price! I generally thing CD's are overpriced, and with my financial situation, I can't just buy all the music I want, even if I want to... It's really sad that I have to act illegally in order to access cultural delight, and I would love if there was an easier way for me to get hold of the music I want, but as of now, there isn't, and that leaves me with very few choices I strongly believe they should make things like CD's and DVD's cheaper. Culture and entertainment should be for everybody, not just those who can afford it... |
i agree with Dearest. i no income of money at all, so i just download using limewire. If i ever get money, i'll spend it on clothes, so it's hard to buy CDs. |
im for downloading because downloading has alot of things to offer and its kinda a waste of money to buy some cd's and i love music alot pretty much a great chunk of my life <3 and i also had alot of fun on maplestory when i downloaded it so yeah downloading FTW! ^_^

I have to admit that I see the point of the people who argue against. Downloading music, anime, movies, programs, or anything else is definitely damaging to the industry, and takes money from the pockets of the developers.
However, I'd be a hypocrite if I said I was against it, since even though I know that it's harmful, I still download with reckless abandon. xD; It's just... Easier. And allows me to get exactly what I want, since CD's usually contain a lot that I don't want, and only a few songs that I do want. In regards to anime, I prefer fansubs to the English dubs, so downloading is really my only option. Anything else, I simply don't have the money to actually buy, so I just download it if possible. >>; Kazurang: MapleStory is free software. xD; So that's kind of a different thing. Maple is awesome, though. >_> |
Now I'm not saying I download songs and movies or any of that, but I've just always felt that things along the lines of music and art should be free. The expression behind some music and art really does make it so the world should see it, especially if one is into a particular genre of music or movies. I think of it like Open Source software. It's just something that should be free!
However, I do recognize that artists need money to make a living too. So for the struggling artist out there, I would say not downloading. But I do ever so wish I could be for it... |
I download music illegally and I have to say I feel guilty about doing it. I know that it's stealing and wrong, but I can't afford to buy lots of songs from itunes (those 99 cents really add up!)Plus no one will hire me for a job because I'm too young in their eyes. Sometimes I convince myself it's okay by saying I'm only downloading songs from successful artists who already have millions of dollars, what's one download going to hurt? Then again, I know I'm stealing music, but I can't help it. AHH I'M A CRIMINAL.

I'm for downloading. I saw a lady on the news one day that has to pay $222,000 to record companies because she was downloading music and had over 1,700 songs.

I've been listening to Pandora a lot to hear new music rather than pirating it from somewhere or buying it. I admit I used to download quite a few songs (though most not released in the US/my region) but with the RIAA being so persistent and since they just recently won a court battle over this I'm going to stick to the more legal methods of enjoying songs. I don't have the money to pay for legal fees and infringement charges so I'll break down and buy a CD if I really want something.

I don't know why, I just don't need it. I have youtube to watch music videos. I get CD's to get music. I don't know. It's just odd for me to download! :D |

yeah i really dont need to download though i just play my playlist on youtube ^_^ but i would also love an ipod and donwload musci from there but youtubes i much easier xD i woudl only download if i really want to listen to music and im not near the computer

I'm for downloading... I mean if I really like the entire album I'll go out and buy it, but there's no point in buying it if I'll only listen to 2-3 songs.

I am for downloading, either legal or pirate. Mainly this comes from a rather long time of being screwed over by the music publishers. It costs them only a few cents to make a CD, and only a small percentage goes to the artist anyway. My favourite way to download is from some of the band's sites, where I can send the fifty cents or a dollar right to them.
