Baby is teething and has developed a habit of waking up every 2 hours again. And now that she has decided to sleep, I have to take her brother to school. I'm feeling very deprived at the moment. So Menewsha, how much sleep do you need to function properly? I like getting 5, but 8 is my usual goal.

For kids its about 8hours.
And adult females need about 6 hours, and adult men need 4 hours.
But this is just what you need to function properly.
I myself LOVE to sleep. so if I would decide I'd sleep 12 hours each night (:

I'm not sure... I haven't slept really in four days.
>> I'm a bit of an insomniac... perhaps I should go to a doctor you may be thinking? I go to a doctor for many reasons and the doctors always say I'm fine, and to get some rest.
I guess through the babbled list they forgot to remember that LOL @ INSOMNIA. >> I could take sleeping pills, but coming off of those makes it worse.
Either way, for different reasons, I feel your pain. D:

I only sleep 4-5 hours on weeknight and a very long 7-12 hours on weekends.
In the winter however I can never get enough sleep and I only get 1-2 hours even on weekends. :x

I suffered from grave insomnia before,
plus,
my fast-paced deadlines don't really allow me to sleep at certain times (sometimes I have to go 2 weeks with 16 hours of sleep in total)-
so I really consider sleep, good sleep, a wonderful luxury (plus I always have intense dreams that totally add to the wonderful-ness). If I can get a natural rhythm I sleep about 9 hours a night/day XD
If one do not sleep sufficiently it is a terror to the body, especially the heart...and the skin. One will age remarkably faster once one loses a severe amount of sleep (that is why, people who experience a lot of grief and loss in life, look a lot older than people of the same age who've lived through more peaceful times).
I'm hoping someone can help you with your baby <3
Or the baby will get over it soon (doesn't know much of taking care of babies), so you can rest well to recover ^______^

Yeah I have a problem sleeping at night so I end up staying awake until about ten oclock in the morning, passing out, waking up around two and going to work.
It's startin to get on my nerves haha.
But as to you, don't worry, eventually they DO stop teething, and you will get more sleep xD Well...a little more.

What's this sleep you speak of? lol
I'm going on my second day of no sleep. It's driving me insane. It wouldn't be so bad if there were things to do in my town.
On a good day I'll get about 5-6 hours of sleep, but that's only during the day time. I can't, for some odd reason, sleep during the night time. If I do it's only for an hour and then I'm wide awake. lol

I made the hubby take him to school. Poor guy, I hate waking him up. But I'm still up with the baby. She's not crying or anything, just chewing. The only time she actually cries is when she bites herself lol. Otherwise she just chews and drools and kicks. At least she's somewhat happy about it. And I'm glad I'm being kept up with noise and laughing rather then crying.

I used to only need 5 hours a sleep of night, but that was roughly 4 years ago... Sigh...

I personally try to get at least 8 hours of sleep because that is a health amount of sleep. Anything less and supposedly its not very good for you.

it really does suck sometimes :S
i even tried meds and some weird herbal stuff that tasted like burnt rubber or summink, but it just didnt work :(

- This week I've been getting around four hours a sleep every night because I'm staying up too late and waking up early for school. I usually don't feel tired until around one in the morning and not tired enough to go to sleep until earliest around two. So I'm usually up till three or four. >.>
I don't like mornings because waking up at 7 just doesn't do it for me. It'd be much better if I could just wake up around eight or nine, that'd be great. Usually I try not to sleep too long into the day because otherwise I'll feel like I've missed the whole day and the chance of actually doing something. I'm most productive before.. two or three in the day, but I'm most artistically inclined in the late evening/night.
Good luck with the baby, I hope she gets over that stage soon! My ideal hours of sleep are.. eight I think. It's happened once that I actually slept the perfect amount of hours, I woke up and felt perfect and really awake and niiiiice. Unfortunately, I can't remember how many hours that was, but I think it was around eight. :Ð

I love my sleep so I need a good 8-9 hours of it. My brother on the other hand can function on 2-3 hours of sleep. How can anyone live like that?

It actually depends on how much REM sleep you get. My ex roommate fell into that state pretty much the moment his head hit the pillow as far as I can tell. He could function fine on 1-2 hours of sleep. It aggravated me to death. I want to be able to do that. :?

I'm practically an insomniac, and I'm only 15! Once during the summer I stayed up all night two nights in a row. That was only because my best friend who moved away last year was in town, but I was leaving soon on vacation so we had to spend the most time together possible, and that meant not wasting our time together on sleeping! Usually on school nights I try to get 6 hours, but as always the more the better.

Ouch! You'll get through it, try to take a nap when your baby does (they have to sleep sometime right?) I remember when my daughter was a baby I craved sleep like it was a bar of chocolate and I was on a desert island.
I can thrive on seven hours of sleep. But I really love when I can get ten. Yeah... sounds excessive, but it's so nice!
