I've seen a ghost. At least twice. But the only time that I really remember was when I was standing in our kitchen and then I looked out towards the shop, which is in our backyard. I saw a woman standing back there. I knew it wasn't mom and she's the only woman living in the house.

And she's friendly. One time, I turned off my alarm that was waking me up to go to school, and I went back to sleep. Then I heard someone yell my name, but I knew it wasn't mom because 1) She had already left for work and 2) It wasn't her voice. That, of course, woke me up, and I wasn't late for school. :D

Hm, I don't know if I believe in ghosts in the traditional sense but, I have witnessed some rather strange things.
I used to live in a 150 year old Victorian house. It was a doctor's house/office at one point.

A few years ago I was up late, and everyone else was asleep. It was around 2am, when I heard this creaking noise. The same creaking noise the staircase made when someone was walking down it. I could hear what sounded like someone running up and down the staircase over and over again. One of my parent's friends who stayed at the house overnight, on a different night said he heard the same thing.

Another incident is one I heard about from my brother's girlfriend(who was living with us at the time.) She said she woke up around 4am to the sound of someone opening the cabinet doors and slamming them shut, over and over again. It continued for an hour. And no one else was up.

My mother also said she saw an outline of a figure in white standing in the hallway looking at her once.

One of my friends who was staying the night said she saw people dressed in white walking through the house.

Plus my bedroom, which had previously been a viewing parlor(complete with a window just the length of a casket) had a door with the words help me carved into the bottom.

There are no definite explanations for all this. It could be our imaginations, and probably is. But who knows?
Maybe it isn't.

Hehe.
Ghosts are good that way.
My grandma once was in a deep sleep and my uncle, her son, was on the other side of the room puking and choking.
She felt a huge slap on the butt and that's what woke her up, but she knew it wasn't my uncle or anyone else, because no one was close to her or anything.
Anyways, if she didn't get slapped, then he probably would've died.

That I remember, no.
But, my mom has told me about one that I apparently saw when I was about three. (I have basically no memories from ANYTHING that happened that young, so I can't attest to whether I really saw this or not)
But, my great grandma ("Ninny". Not like the insult, just sort of another way of saying "Nanny" or "Nana") had died when I was quite young. And one time, apparently my nightlight went off in the night. Light bulb burned out. And when my mom came to wake me up the next morning, she saw that it was out, and asked why I hadn't gotten scared. And I said something like "I wasn't alone." And mom figured I meant an imaginary friend, or my stuffed animals. So she asked who, I said "Ninny". And I said something about these cat-eye glasses she had been wearing (y'know, the "winged" glasses. Like winged eyeliner, but in glasses) that had rhinestones on them. And my Ninny did wear those glasses all the time. But not since I had been born. She wore them all the time when MY mom was a little girl. So really, there was no way I could have known about those glasses, and yet when I said I saw her, I described those glasses being on her.
I think my mom said that I said that Ninny came to visit me on another night. After that, my mom would ask me occasionally if I had talked to Ninny, but it was only those two times.

That's so creepy, but I love it! Hehe.

Pixeluscious 10-12-2007 09:59 PM

I swear there's a ghost in our loft.
I always think I can hear something running across the ceiling at night, towards whichever room I'm staying in.
I don't know maybe I'm just insane/deluded but I think it's an amiable ghost anyway ;P
Just a feeling.
Mum swore that there was a ghost in the old house that she and Dad had whe nthey lived in London, before I was born.
They said it used to pick up fallen items, like my sister's dummy and stuff.
It's hard to know about supernatural stuff though. You can't prove or disprove it. Just like Gods really. ;]

You're not insane. I hear the same things in my house. Like, I know what everyones footsteps sound like and know when there is someone walking around that isn't one of the members of the household. My house creeks, but not all the time, which is weird.

Mirei 10-12-2007 10:19 PM

Ooh. The paranormal, one of my favorite subjects.
Yeah, I guess there are things I've seen/heard and couldn't explain, but I'm sure everyone has experienced something like this in their life. :3
With me, I've experimented with things here and there and most of the time I get unusual results.
For instance, I remember hearing somewhere that ghosts and spirits were created by people who wanted them to exist. So, my friends and I tried to test this theory. We created up a person, their history, name, and death. For about a month, all of us used an Ouija board and "contacted" Bob. [we aren't great with names... xD] Of course, there were correct results with the Ouija board. This alone wasn't enough to prove the real existence.
So~ I had my sister's friend, who knew absolutely nothing about what we were doing, give it a try. She got the same things from the Ouija board that we made up. [She asked his name, and got the answer 'Bob'... and so on.]
A few days later, we all disbanded our little "project". Everything was fine for a little while until we all shared our odd occurrences. [We all heard noises at night, Emilie (one of my friends) felt herself being pushed at times, and Megan (another friend) became sick.
Things only worsened, so we had Emilie's boyfriend (who happens to know a bit about rituals and stuff like that) give us some help on the matter. He basically told us not to worry about it, and that he'd handle it. So, he held this little banishment thingy, that didn't work. Eventually, he got a friend of his family (who used to be a priest), come over and solve the problem. I don't know what he did, but it worked~

...And the lesson we learned: Don't be an idiot.

Spiritual phenomena is my life, really. I'm a medium of sorts... Come from a family of them... or so my mother claimed. I've heard voices a lot, and my anti-psychotics don't change it. I used to talk to tree-spirits all the time... Still do to a degree. I used to name the trees after the spirits in them... My grandmother still remembers the names <3

I've seen a few, The first when I was nine. I figured I was being brave, it was the first time I slept with my light off. I had ginni pigs(i'm a bad speller sorry.) and they were freaking out so I sat up and looked at the cage, and I saw my great-grandfather. He has passed away that month,so of course I was terrified,I hid under the covers about a min later I peaked out of the covers and he was standing over my bed I screamed and flicked the light on, I looked and he was gone.

I've had some pretty freaky things happen. We played ouji board and when we asked who we where talking to it said "I am the one they call Death." we told them we had to leave and they said Good Bye. we heard a sound that night that sounded like two rocks clicking together.

I've seen one recently, I was talking on the phone and my room is in the basement I heard something by the stairway and when I looked I saw a little girl peaking at me from the stairs, She was blonde and was wearing a white dress. I also saw a man standing over my bed but I only saw him for a second then he was gone.

I think I'm done lol. I've had more ehm.. encounters?? but I don't feel like typing anymore xD

Nah, you're not insane. xD
I hear things in my upstairs room/attic all the time. ..Of course, I have three cats and two dogs. o_o;;
But the rooms always locked, so I don't see how they could get up there.

Hello, Little!
Hehe, it's awesome that we keep bumping into each other.

Sorry for the long reply, I was out eating my pizza. -pats belly-
I'm stuffed. x3

That's amazing!
I've been wondering what a medium was, someone called me one in this thread. Is it someone who knows ghosts a lot?
Hehe, if so, that's definitely me. Go back to the previous posts and read my posts.
Hehe, I love ghosts, I want to make friends with them, but my girl ghost doesn't appear to me, it makes me sad.
All of my friends have seen her but me... -sad-
I love her, she's like a sister to me now, even though I've never spoken to her before.

I remember one time I was on the computer on webcam at like 4 in the morning and I felt something touching the back of my head/pony tail area. The person who was watching me on webcam said they saw something moving behind my head, it scared the crap out of me!

A few nights before that, the dog that was in our family for most of our lives that we had to put down because he was so old, he appeared sitting next to me, but disappeared when I looked. I swear it was that dog, I was so happy, yet scared.

Hey~
Well, to clear things up, a medium is someone who acts as a midpoint between the spiritual world and the physical world.
I hope that helped a little. ^^

My house is "haunted". We never use the sitting room on the first floor cause it's so creepy in there. Really really disturbing to hear a couch moving itself across hardwood floor for the first time, but we're used to it. I saw an old lady in there adjusting the clock on the fireplace mantle when I was little, and the clock stopped working after that. There's a lady that goes up and down the main stairs, but you can only see her reflection in the window.

One of the places I worked at had a few ghosts. It was next to a church, people said it was built on top of a graveyard but I highly doubt that. My brother worked at a grocery store that had some really freaky stuff happen, but he won't speak about it. He left during one of his shifts and never went back.

There's a really really haunted place in my city, if anyone wants to read about it, go to wikipedia and search "Nicholas Street Gaol". I could type ten paragraphs about what I've seen there but noone would believe it.

Mirei:
Oh, that's so wonderful.
That's not what I am, though I would love to be.
My family has all had many experiences with ghosts, but not enough to be considered a Medium. n____n
I'd love to meet someone that was. I would get them to talk to my ghost girl and to the only person I know that has died later on after me knowing them.
That would be so wonderful. I mean, someone who was more of a ghost psychic. Hehe

Mirei 10-12-2007 10:59 PM

-Jopwie
Ooh~ I'd love for you to share of your experiences. o_o Seriously, If I lived within a place like that, I'd make sure to visit as often as possible, and bring a video camera. x3
['course, I'd have to go with someone since I have a tendency of being scared too easily. u_u;;]

-Ikana
Who knows. Maybe one day, you'll become better at that and you can be a professional medium~ =D

Vivian 10-12-2007 11:00 PM

Hehe!
That would be so wonderful. I keep my eyes open for anything 'strange' that goes on around here. I love ghosts, as I've said thousands of times before. Haha.

Hehe, Pixel, I'm sorry that I stole your hair, it's just so pretty. <3

Edit:
I'm going for a walk now, I'll talk to you all later.

TsubasaMirai 10-12-2007 11:11 PM

I've had a couple encounters.

One time a few years back I was taking a walk in the woods behind my grandmother's house, it was fall so there were leaves crunching underneath my feet, and I saw an older gentleman. His hair was graying, and he wore a suit, and walked with a cain. The first weird thing I noticed was he made no sound as he walked closer to me. I stopped moving and he kept coming straight at me until he walked through me. When I turned around he was gone.

Also in these woods I used to play with a little girl, long curly blonde hair, pale skin, and a white dress. Whenever I told my family about them they said there are no children living near there and brushed it off as my imaginary friend or something.

Ramsus Van Lionheart 10-12-2007 11:25 PM

I see them constantly, I was haunted by a little girl that continually tried to grab me while I tried to sleep. Some nights I have gone outside and saw something on my porch, only a glimpse before an overwhelming forced shoved into my gut and knocked me down. There are spirits that wander and spirits that contact. The worst nightmares you can have involve spirits, when they show you how they died and put you in their place when it happened is unimaginable to think about. When it happens to you, you never want to sleep or close your eyes in fear of reliving that again.

whispering_X_demon 10-12-2007 11:30 PM

I don't believe in ghosts.

Uh. When I was a kid, I used to be really afraid of ghosts/dead people. It all started when this kid from my kindergarden class said that the elementary school I was going into was haunted. o.o;;

What was worse was that we lived right next to the hospital. No, it wasn't really... uh, screaming, wailing patients that scared me, it was more of the... car lights. Through our balcony, where my room was, the car lights shone in through the windows. And, well, white things illuminating your walls = supernatural = ...ghost? o.o

Melancholy 10-12-2007 11:36 PM

Ooh i dont know if it was a ghost or not but i've had a strange expeirence.

I happened to wake up one morning, and in the middle of 'waking up' out of eyes opening and gathering concious thought i could swear i saw Kurt Cobain standing at the end of my bed. He was standing with his guitar, and the image of him wasn't clear/sharp, but i could feel it was him if you know what i mean?

Thats the most paranormal thing thats ever happened to me. :]

Zombie Secks 10-12-2007 11:39 PM

  • [color=purple] I saw a ghost once.. but it was when i was real little, I don't remeber much about what he looked like but i recall seeing him dressed like a pimp.. You know how todays pimp wear 20's clothing? that's how he was dressed..

When i was turning thirteen i was hit on the head by some things that were on the fridge. I shall never forget feeling a metal dish hit my head.. that hurt.

Recently this year in the middle of summer i was sitting out side, it was around 2 in the morning and i heard what sounded like giggling.. Now, I know it was not any of the kids in my town cause they are normally in playing videogames at that hour. It also sounded like it came from my yard. -.- Joy.

Rhapsody 10-12-2007 11:40 PM

I don't know if I've seen a ghost... Hmm...

One time, I thought I say something weird. I came out of the shower and I guess my eyes were just blurry from water.

I walked out the door in a towel and then I looked through my bedroom door I was about to enter and It looked like there were raindrops falling down from the top of the door.

I was like.. UMM. DID anyone else see that? xD

I kept walking in and out of the washroom and looking at my bedroom door over and over again to make sure this wasn't actually happening!
