• Of course, Gaia and Mene have they're fair share of problems. I would personally rather have Gaia be overstaffed than understaffed, a majority of the older users here came to Mene because they didn't like how Gaia ran things. Nothing is perfect, just like how I disagree with the Mene ad on Tektek, but you have to consider that Mene has been bad mouthed as well on Gaia. Sure, that doesn't give us a right to bad-mouth Gaia in return (I don't, I just don't like Gaia, it got a tad boring for me), but I really don't any of this dispute over avatar sites would really need to lead to rifts between two great avatar sites.

Just like how we can't tell you to hate Gaia. Who are you to tell us we shouldn't hate it?

Everyone has their own opinions, and everyone is entitled to their opinions. I like the Gaian avi's, but I love Menewsha more than Gaia. I've been around in Menewsha for a lot longer. Since back when it was really new and only had 3000 members. 4x less than it does know. So I feel a certain attachment to Menewsha and not Gaia. At Gaia, I'm just one of many many members. Here I'm usually know as Rando.

I'm not saying that you can't/shouldn't hate Gaia. Again, you're entitled to think whatever you want of it. The problem is with being rude to others because they don't feel the same. I would never be rude to someone just because they didn't like Gaia. You don't seem like you would be either, and expressing your opinions as you are- calmly, logically, not trying to insult anyone, but still saying how you feel- that is perfectly fine to me.

As for where the Gaia hate is, it would take a while to find things if I didn't post in the thread, but I do have one concrete example. There was a topic I posted in that's in the Fresh Meat section (probably still on the first page) and somebody posted something in it insulting the intelligence of that thread and saying it "smelled like Gaia" or something.

This place is a lot like Gaia though. Even most of the forums are the same. So I don't see why people are hating and flaming Gaians. Menewsha is basically like Gaia only newer.

Yeah I love gaia its really cool but it could be better without all the hackers and stuff like in the beginning but its still fun.

Wow, I had no idea people here were so hostile to Gaians. Sad really. Of course, Gaians are spiteful to other site users, so I guess that makes them almost the same.

I dig this place, but I still love Gaia and it will be my number 1 choice. As for the test....I'm not a fan of it either and it is easy to answer. If you really think about it, a LOT of the 'Trolls/n00bs' from 4chan/gaia/myspace/neopets/etc are all pretty smart and only do that shit for the lol.

I hope the competition between these sites won't cause too much hatred to gaians, as I'll always be one. I saw it happen in Magi too, and it turned me off from that site.

And as for the AD....it's actually somewhat promoting gaia...which I find funny. If I saw that AD and didn't know what Gaia was...I'd go there and here to compare and who knows which I'd fall for. ;}

i am still playin on gaia mine got hacke i signed up in 2003 and got hacked 2 and now half of my items our gone thx to donater though my usernanme here is the same as the one i have in gaia

You say the add was offensive? I think that's offensive. Josh is in university and is very capable of running an forum-based site. And it's NOT offensive to suggest that people bore of Gaia, I think you're being pathetic.

And 'didn't know better'? How self-righteous is THAT?

I like both sites, I don' reallie have a preference.

The ad is a little insulting. It's one thing to say people get bored of Gaia, and quite another to state it on an ad that thousands of people are going to look at, just to get attention. There are far better ways to advertise, and ones that don't have a strong risk of offending your potential user base. Quite obviously enough people were offended to cause a ruckus about it.

Personally I don't think it was that big a deal; I just think it was neither good manners nor good marketing. What you also have, in addition to the possible offense of some people upon looking at the ad, is setting yourself up for extra competition. If people think, "Wow, that site must be better and different than Gaia!" because of the ad, then don't enjoy it as much as Gaia, or notice a lot of similarities, you have just possibly downgraded yourself. You've started a direct comparison between your site and Gaia that can't be ignored.

I'm proud to be a gaian! yes there are spammers and all those others ya hate but not everyone's bad! lol i'm so poor on this site!

What Gaia does well it does really well. Manga, item design, marketplace, innovation.

Unfortunately, Gaia has a lot of stuff they need to fix. Their forums are a cluster-F of spam and one-liners by 12 year olds that can't spell. The sub catagories haven't been updated in donkey's years. The moderating is done weekly at best. Towns are unmonitored, and you can't even read the chat it goes by so fast. Houses should be more useful. Cars are... what the hell are cars for? It's like Gaia has these wonderful ideas but never sees them completely through.

Gaia used to be about communicating to earn gold. Now you can just buy it with cash and never give thought to your posts ^^;

I'm upset that they're putting so much money into their lame little animated shorts, instead of working out all their bugs.

Having said all that, Gaia still has redeeming features that make me come back ^^;.

I don't look down on people because they love Gaia, provided that they aren't one of the morons speaking uneducated jackasses. I look down on Gaia itself because of the condition it's in. Its art and design is beautiful and that's what attracted it to me in the first place, but its the poor condition of its community that disgusts me. Whomever runs the place seems more concentrated on starting more and more new features rather than fixing the old features that have started to go wrong, such as the forums. I can't believe that its so hard to lock a forum whose title includes a sex organ, so I'm afraid I'll have to doubt what you've stated about the staff working hard.

As for literacy, no, its not the only way of typing. But most people who come to places like Menewsha come for the forums, as Gaia's forums could most definitely use improvement. We are not trying to be snobbish little brats who think they're better than other people because we can spell. We're people that would prefer to be on a place where intelligent, understandable chat is possible.

Not everyone on Gaia is bad. Are the majority? Yes. Could it be fixed with a little hard work on the users and forums rather than the new features they're creating to seemingly attempt to hide the problems? Yes. Its not bigger that makes things better. Its quality that makes things better. And Gaia's quality has gone downhill.

I actually found Mene through Gaia.

Well i do have Gaia and my experience there was great, not to say i got very far in terms of gold. I got addicted to it for like 3 years of it. And hopefully this website would give me an even better experience then Gaia. It sounds like this website is much more, pleasant and has a lot of kind people.

It's as if you're saying "we won't accept you unless you're like us." I know literacy is preferred, and I know spamming is against the rules, but there are other ways to see to that.

A recent ad my friend saw for Menewsha really offended her and I. She, like me, is an avid Gaia fan. The ad read "Bored of Gaia? Try Menewsha!" What makes Menewsha better than Gaia?

Mene doesn't like people who are rude to others, right? Mene wants to be a great community filled with literate conversations and fun, fair gold earning with events to entertain us. Right now I'm feeling very unwanted on Mene. I feel like you all look down on me because I love Gaia. Thanks, Mene. :/
