What is your favourite song about?

Quote:

http://www.plyrics.com/lyrics/avenge...theharlot.html

Well My favourite song is "Beast And The Harlot" By Avenged Sevenfold,

The song is about the Apocalypse; many quotes are taken directly from the Book of Revelation, particularly chapter seventeen, such as "Seven headed beast, ten horns raise from his head", "hatred strips her and leaves her naked", and other references. The word Harlot means prostitute. The Harlot referred to in the song is Great Babylon, quoted in the song "Fallen now is Babylon the great"

If you read the Lyrics it's got alot about Babylon,

Beast And The Harlot

This shining city built of gold, a far cry from innocence,
There's more than meets the eye round here, look to the waters of the deep.
A city of evil.
There sat a seven-headed beast, ten horns raised from his head.
Symbolic woman sits on his throne, but hatred strips her and leaves her naked.
The Beast and the Harlot.

She's a dwelling place for demons.
She's a cage for every unclean spirit,
every filthy burden, makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicating with our kings.
Fallen now is Babylon the Great.

The city dressed in jewels and gold, fine linen, myrrh with pearls.
Her plagues have come all at once as her mourners watch her burn.
Destroyed in an hour.
Merchants and captains of the world, sailors, navigators too.
Will weep and mourn this loss with her sins piled to the sky,
The Beast and the Harlot.

She's a dwelling place for demons.
She's a cage for every unclean spirit,
every filthy burden, makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicating with our kings.
Fallen now is Babylon the Great.

The day has come for all us sinners.
If you're not a servant, you'll be struck to the ground.
Flee the burning, greedy city.
Lookin' back on her to see there's nothing around.

I don't believe in fairytales and no one wants to go to hell.
You've made the wrong decision and it's easy to see.
Now if you wanna serve above or be a king below with us,
You're welcome to the city where your future is set forever.

She's a dwelling place for demons.
She's a cage for every unclean spirit,
every filthy burden, makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicating with our kings.
Fallen now is Babylon the Great.

She's a dwelling place for demons.
She's a cage for every unclean spirit,
every filthy burden, makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicating with our kings.
Fallen now is Babylon the Great.

Well i basicly think it's one of the best songs ever writen because it's extremely interesting,And Very Catchy
What is your favourite song and what is it about?

Sir.Spoon 10-13-2007 11:49 PM

Mine is Roadside by Rise Against.
It's so good...it's all acoustic...(shivers)
No idea what it's about,...

I also like Feist's 1234.
Catchy, infectious, little diddy...made me go out and buy her album.

Naiyo 10-13-2007 11:51 PM

Hmm (thinking this may go in music section but whatever)
I really like "Sing" by Dresden Dolls and Roadside is a good song too-really sad thou. "Lover I don't have to love" by bright eyes is another good one. I have way too many faves to just pick some out.

It's about how people trust the U.S. Gov't when they shouldn't. Basically. I think. D:

Quote:

"Let Me Go"

Ok check this out
It aint impossible, it aint easy
Opportunity shifting here
So far the strategy aint working the facts are in it's so very clear
I do what I want I can't predict the future
And those who can I know that they are lying
I know the truth can be hard to swallow
A soap opera world leaders are crying
Correction I need no direction
Oh let me go just one last time
I spend my whole life searching for direction
Oh let me go just one last time
You can burn a book if you don't like the answers
Or join forces with an AXL grind
USA protecting your cancers
A list if hatred is easy to find
Well there's a growing sentiment in America
If you listen closely you can hear them all
Right is right wrong is wrong and evil
Consider it bad behavior
Correction I need no direction
Oh let me go just one last time
I spend my whole life searching for direction
Oh let me go just one last time
Bad generation polarize view
No one leaves home to go and help you
Watch CNN and then you know
US bombs come down, what you gonna do
Boom boom boom look around
There's no more roof no more house, no street, no town, shot down
Burnt black and brown
electrical meltdown
You'll hear the sound of the U.S. bomb all around
Ah it's a shake down
It's a break down
Atomic shutdown
And then you know!!!!!!
Correction I need no direction
Oh let me go just one last time
I spend my whole life searching for direction
Oh let me go just one last time
Correction I need no direction
Oh let me go just one last time
I spend my whole life searching for direction
Oh let me go just one last time
One last time....

Re: What is your favourite song about?

well I don't realy know what mine is all I know is I've got 3...

#1: Almost easy by Avenged sevenfold.

Quote:

"I feel insane every single time I'm asked to compromise
'cause I'm afraid, I’m stuck in my ways
And that’s the way you stay
So how long did I expect love to out weigh ignorance?
Now that look on your face may force the scale to tip

I'm not insane, I'm not insane
I'm not insane, I’m not – not insane

(I'm not)
Come back to me, it's almost easy.
(Set it off)
Come back again, it's almost easy.

Shame pulses through my heart
From the things I’ve done to you.
It’s hard to face but the fact remains that
This is nothing new.

I let you down inside with suicidal memories,
Selfish beneath the skin
But deep inside I'm not insane.

I'm not insane, I'm not insane.
I'm not insane, I'm not – not insane.

(I'm not)
Come back to me, it's almost easy.
(Set it Off)
Come back to me, it's almost easy.
(You learned your lesson)
Come back again, it's almost easy.
(It’s still your fault)
Come back again, it's almost easy.

Now that I’ve lost you it kills me to say
(Hurts to say)
I try to hold on as you slowly slip away.
I’m losing the fight.
Treated you so wrong, now let me make it right.
(Make it all right)

I'm not insane, I'm not insane. (chuckling)
I'm not insane, I'm not – not insane.

(I'm not)
Come back to me, it's almost easy.
(Set it Off)
Come back to me, it's almost easy.
(You learned your lesson)
Come back again, it's almost easy.
(It’s still your fault)
Come back again, it's almost easy."

My favourite song is not really "about" anything, it's a classical song. Fanfare for the Common Man, be Copland. :)

  • "Chasing Cars" - By Snow Patrol.

I can't even put a finger on what it means, at least to me. All I know is that this song connects to me so well on a personal level and I can't help but cry when I hear it. Every single time.

I remember when I first found out my dad was sick, and we had taken him to the hospital. We spent 14 hours in the surgery waiting room. After wards we were forced to leave him in the hospital and told to go home since we couldn't stay over. We were quite the whole long way home in the rain, then this song came on the radio and it just did something to my mom and and I. All that pent up emotion from months and months of backed up issues came out.

So in the end. This song means a lot to me. Not sure if any of this made sense, but it made perfect sense in my head xD.

My favorite song is about speaking your mind and voicing your opinion.
About how you make statements and they don't take effect to society.

Its called Rebel yell by The assorted Jelly beans.

Heres a clip of lyrics.

Quote:

"So sing a song, sing it loud
Maybe someone in the crowd will understand
(It's all about running from the gaping mouth)
So sing a song, sing it loud
Maybe someone in the crowd will understand.
{It's all about running from the gaping mouth)

The spotlight's shining
Heard you had something to say
The hourglass is pouring
Your boring crowd fades away
The spotlight's shining,
Heard you had something to say
The hourglass is pouring
Your boring crowd fades away."

Mine is Over You by Daughtry. Pretty self explanatory why I like it. Just got over a guy so thats why I like it. Or I'm getting over him I should say.

Quote:

http://www.lyricsmine.com/lyrics/370...ghtry/Over_You

Now that it's all said and done,
I can't believe you were the one
To build me up and tear me down,
Like an old abandoned house.
What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath.
I fell too far, was in way too deep.
Guess I let you get the best of me.

Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running
A long, long time ago.
And I never thought I'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.
I'm slowly getting closure.
I guess it's really over.
I'm finally getting better.
And now I'm picking up the pieces.
I'm spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together.
'Cause the day I thought I'd never get through,
I got over you.

You took a hammer to these walls,
Dragged the memories down the hall,
Packed your bags and walked away.
There was nothing I could say.
And when you slammed the front door shut,
A lot of others opened up,
So did my eyes so I could see
That you never were the best for me.

Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running
A long, long time ago.
And I never thought I'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.
I'm slowly getting closure.
I guess it's really over.
I'm finally getting better.
And now I'm picking up the pieces.
I'm spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together.
'Cause the day I thought I'd never get through,
I got over you.

Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running
A long, long time ago.
And I never thought I'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.

Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running

And I never thought I'd doubt you,

It's really too bad that it seems as though one person in this entire thread has read the rules on copy/pasting song lyrics and other sources. Most of you will be losing gold and this thread is now locked (it's in the wrong forum anymore)
