Do you have any routines that needs to be done in order for you to sleep? If so, what are they?
How do you fall asleep?
Do you sleep with a night light on? If so, what kind of night light is it?

~~~~~~~
Of course, everyone does, don't they? I need to take my hair down, glasses off, remove socks and light up a stick of incense that will help my muscles relax. I also have to make sure that no animals are in my room. Buggers
How do I fall asleep? Like....what position? I usually lay on my belly, head turned to the right side of my body. My right leg is lifted up other wise my organs feel like they are being squished and I can't breathe. I also have one pillow under my arms and the other curled up to my chest. Of course, it is just a comfort thing...
Well I don't intentionally sleep with a night light. My room just happens to face the street, so the street kind of acts like a night light for me. I have become dependent on that light that when the power went out recently, I felt completely lost...
It's funny because before I found this topic I was discussing sleep with my sister. I have some kind of a sleep disorder and no matter how tired I may be I am unable to fall asleep anytime before 2 or 3 am. I am tired before then sometimes, but not sleepy, if that makes sense.
So I typed sleep disorders into google and I've been reading. I found an article about delayed sleep phase syndrome and that sounds like what I have. Wikipedia isn't the best source though so I might look up what other sites have to say on the subject.
As for before sleep rituals I don't really have any aside from brushing my teeth. I like for it to be perfectly dark when I sleep and I can't have music on or anything. I prefer that the room I am in is at a cooler temperature, though not too cold. That's about it. XD
Hmm, I suppose I am fairly normal, sleep wise. I tend to make sure my room window is closed, mainly so I don't freeze (it's getting a tad chilly this time of year), and make sure my alarm is set. I check that my sidearm is where it's supposed to be, then I fall into bed and sleep like a rock until my alarm goes off.
My only routine is double checking all the doors, to make sure they're all locked. (I'm super paranoid like that.) And of course I lock my bed room door.
I normally fall asleep on my side, wrapped around something/someone. And I have to have at least two pillows, I'm a total comfort whore.
When I'm here alone I have to have the tv on, half for the noise, and half for the light.
Yes, I know that at my age it's a bit pathetic to need a night light, but it's not like I'm afraid of monsters, goblins, ghosts or any of that shit, I'm just worried someone might break in to kill/rape me, and I won't be able to see where I'm going to get away.
Like I said, I'm paranoid.
And I have to have some sort of noise because when I don't, I can hear every little crick and creak and it keeps me up.
And I normally sleep in snatches. Sleep for a few hours, fight to get back to sleep, and wake up in a few more.
Makes it really easy for my sleeping schedule to get all out of whack. :?
In order to go to sleep I have to have at least two pillows and a blanket to curl up in. I should probably mention that a “blanket” to me means either a comforter or quilt. And yes, I want one even in the hottest part of summer. Otherwise I just can’t sleep. I also prefer to have some sort of background sound, such as the TV or radio playing. Normally I have some sort of nightlight, or at least a light out in the hall on with my bedroom door open.
I have sort of odd little quirks. Oh, and I also have to sleep facing a wall, it creeps me out to be facing a window.
Do you have any routines that needs to be done in order for you to sleep? If so, what are they?
A: I cannot take in any sort of caffine after five in the afternoon, otherwise I will be sitting in my bed, wanting to sleep, very sleepy, but unable to sleep until maybe two in the morning.
Another, I cannot watch any frightening movies after dark. I does not matter how ridiculous, whatever villain or beasty in the movie is, I think it is in my room, despite the fact that I am 18 and really know better.
The strangest thing though, is the fact that there is no way for me to sleep unless there is a fan on. Day or night, winter or summer, I need that fan! And I live in Michigan and have no venelation to my room. Do you have any idea how cold it gets in the winter in Michigan? Very cold. Very very cold. Though not as cold as some areas of Canada, so I am not one to complain. And I cannot sleep without that fan. So when I wake up on a cold winter morning, I am especially cold because of that fan. I mean my toes are practically ice cubes. But at least I got my sleep.
How do you fall asleep?
A: I lie in my bed and think. I close my eyes, thinking happy thoughts and relax and I wait. And wait. And wait and wait and wait. On a good night, I can fall asleep within an hour. You do not want to know how long it takes for me to fall asleep on a bad night. It has been like this for me for as long as I can remember, and will probably be like this for the rest of my life. I deal with it.
Do you sleep with a night light on? If so, what kind of night light is it?
A: No nightlights. I can sleep with a light on, I just do not see the point in wasting the electricity on one. Except when it is the really cool animated light. Like this awesome flame nightlight I used to have. That was so cool...
Or just talk about stuff relating to sleep (not about dreams or nightmares, since there's a thread on those topics already).
A: Don't you guys hate dreams. I mean, of course I love dreams, but don't you hate it how you cannot remember what happened in your dream? You only get a couple of random images, maybe a small scene, and you cannot, for the life of you, remember what was going on in that dream. Just a vague impression.
I don't really have any out of the ordinary rituals.
I have to brush my teeth before I go to bed, but who doesn't?
If I don't, I just lay there thinking about all the plaque on my teeth, and wondering how much damage it will do until morning... XD
I sleep with a nightlight sometimes. Not all the time.
Basically, if I have a really bad nightmare, it makes me sort of dread going to bed the next night. So a nightlight helps. It also helps on nights where I'm just particularly skittish for one reason or another.
But I like it to be pitch black when I sleep, so if I have a nightlight in, I have to block my face with covers or a pillow. XD
I used to sleep with a night light and a stuffed animal when I was little. Or my fuzzy little blanket. :oops:
Music usually helps me get to asleep, even though it takes a lot longer nowadays.
Lets see what I normally do before I go to bed is stuff like brush my teeth, wash my face, and make sure I use the bathroom then I make my bed (yeah I make my bed before I sleep in I unless I have someone over), then depending if I'm having trouble sleeping or not I'll put on music or just try and blank my mind out. But I find the only time I really sleep well is when I have someone holding me or I'm cuddling someone.
My sheets definitely have to be in place, but not too neat. They have to be a bit bunchy too. XD
I have to have at least 7 pillows to sleep with. 1 under my head, 2 on both my sides, 1 to my right, 2 surrounding my head and 1 in my arms.
I also find that I fall asleep on my side instantly, either side makes no difference.
Sadly, I can't really fall asleep without all of completed. I will toss and turn all night. :(
