And no. I'm not one of those bitching PETA Nazis... I hate those kind of people. My sister is one. Grrr... |
I have to go now. |

I don't like to eat steak or other beef products, because I love cows, I think they are so adorable. But I love to eat chicken, chicken are one of the dumbest animals alive, so I have no problem eating them. And chicken are just so tasty!
|
GOD!
I live about a kilometer away from an slaughter-house (I am using that term merely because I have no idea how to spell the real word.) Only occasionally can I hear cows or sheep. Most of the time you can smell it, or rather smell their excrement. But the worst is just after it rains and where we live is downwind, nice! :| It's almost like those animals knows what is about to happen and soil themselves. |
I'll eat pretty much anything. And my dad and I used to hunt deer, so seeing animals before and after doesn't bother me (as long as it was a clean kill). I've helped mom dress the deer, too. Animals are tasty; I don't put much thought into it beyond that.
One thing that always amazes me is how people in the US respond to the thought of eating rabbit. It's very tasty, nutritious meat, and (I believe) is eaten often in Europe and the UK. But raise the subject in the US, and people seem horrified that you're eating a "cute little bunny". Never mind that rabbits are mean and have sharp claws. :lol: Meh. |

I participated in ferrating when I was younger, which is where you put ferrats down rabbit warrens to flush them out so you can shoot them. When I was four I helped skin my first rabbit. Yeah kill one animal and make twice the profit by skinning them. Sell the carcasses to pet food makers and sell the hides to tanners which then gets the furs made into nice warm coats for winter. |

I dunno, it doesn't really freak me out... As long as it doesn't look the animal it once was O.o;

I made the turkey dinner this Thanksgiving. I was SUPPOSED to be helped make the turkey by a certain boy, but he was late.
My Dad called me at 5am to remind me to put the turkey in the sink to defrost. It was all wrapped up in a bag, nothing too bad. So I get up and start preparing it around 10am. I lift up the bag and start to take the turkey out of it. This is when I start freaking out. It reminded me of a baby. The weight, texture, just the way I tried to pick it up... even the colour was like picking up a small baby. I then was supposed to take the legs out off this little hole that had been cut in the turkey's... um... lower back? I cried. I layed the turkey back into the sink and started walking in circles, shaking my hands and saying, "I can't do this, I can't do this, I can't do this..." I tried to calm down but every time I went to pick it up, this wave of panic came over me and I had to lay it back down. Finally, I realized I was being foolish and should be able to prepare meat if I'm going to eat it. I took a deep breath and just did everything as fast as I could. I quickly untucked the legs, took out what was inside (only the nexk.. *phew*), stuffed it (By basically dropping the stuffing in and pushing it in with a spoon.. haah I could NOT shove my hand inside), placing it in the pan and then in the oven. I have to admit a wave of relief swept over me. Once it's cooked, I can cut it up but before.. too close to looking like it once was. If I ever had to prepare my own food, as in hunt, kill, clean and then cook, I would be a vegetarian in a heartbeat. I realize this seems wrong and I guess with practice / doing it I would overcome my anxiety about it, but it gives me the willies! |

Although when my mother was in high school the way they harvested veal was pretty horrible, I won't mention here, but it was bad. And from hearing that tale early on about how my mum almost flunked cooking because she refused to cook veal and got into serious trouble for refusing to eat the veal she cooked I will not go near veal. |
Yes.
I'm not vegetarian, but I don't see what's wrong with not eating meat. It's very healthy and makes you feel less guilty all your life. I'm Chinese - so before you say 'Eww' - remember that we have different customs. My parents went out to eat at chinese restaurants a lot and ordered this, well, I'm sure it's not 'Frog' but close. I used to love eating it! It tastes like chicken except better. THEN my dad got sick and my mom and aunt decided to follow an old chinese remedy to help him get better - this remedy involves half a dozen of those 'frogs' I mentioned before. And my mom bought them live. Live. O.O And of course, she, being brought up on a farm, had no hesitation to kill them in our own backyard. When I heard shouts and saw my aunt chasing a 'frog' who was running for his freedom (our backyard faces a large pond) I freaked out. That scarred me forever. Yea, I've told my parents that I'm never eating that again... I freak out when other relatives try to push me to eat it since they still think I love it... ugh! being chinese has its advantage - and disadvantages. |
Whenever I think of beef I always get queasy.
Or pork... The animals we eat look so disgusting and gross.. But they taste so good. T_T |
|
I'm about to watch the video... |
oh my, that sounds really horrible. I have never personally had that experience since I live in Australia and as far as I know all those sorts of places are no where near any main cities (that or I am completely oblivious to them)I think I only ever saw one in Darwin and that was only a holding area. However if I did have that sort of thing close to where I lived I think I would be a vegetarian.

You live near a fucking slaughter house?
o_o So, does it creep you out when you think about what you just ate used to be alive? -Somewhat. Not really. >3< Except veal. Or am I pretty weird? -Nope. :3 Do you ever stop eating something for awhile because you've seen that particular animal, or petted that particular animal? Naw, I just don't associate. And when I do, I just don't care. Its just how things are supposed to be. =[ |
I stopped eating fish.. because when you cut it, or whatever >< you can see the marks from the ribs or something.. I dunno but it really freaks me out ._. I love chicken.. Terryaki, especially. I get sick when I try to eat seafood anymore ^^;
|
I don't really think about where my food comes from, mostly I just eat it.
I do have a friend who refuses to eat crab, though, because she once watched her mother boil some alive. Which is slightly ironic, because she likes steak. . . |
I used to live on a farm where the cows went for Meat Processing or whatever you call it. It hasn't actually bothered me. The Only meat I won't eat is fish. Something about it Disturbes me. Ever since I was little it just bothers me. My rule is Cows,Pigs, and Chickens are ok to eat but I won't eat any other Animal. Thats just Uckey x(
I did notice though whenever me and my brother named a cow (being only 7 at the time) it seemed to dissapear D: it made us sad but then we would forget about it. Shows ya how caring we where xD |
Oh gosh. I couldn't live near a meat plant. The poor moo-moo's.
I can't stand eating ribs, or whole turkeys/chicken. It's just a little too ick for me. Ribs make me think of my ribs and they hurt thinking about it :roll: Or whole roasted pigs. That's just gross. |
I like animals, but I have no problem with eating them. Unless the head is still attached. :shock: I've petted chickens, chased them, held them, got pecked by them, but I'm still okay with eating them. I even named them!

Two, I swear you should never base anything off what you see on a PETA video. I don't think PETA goes about their messages honestly and feel that they overdramatize and find the worse possible situations and say they are happening everywhere. I hate PETA, I feel like they mislead people to a high extreme. I read something someone said that was basically that members of PETA are people who have a good cause they have a desire to end animal cruelity they just lack the intelligence to do so. |
I try not to think about it. Otherwise I'm gonna get even skinnier than I already am...it's hard for me to look at my plate and see the animal anyway. Unless I met that one personally (like we have a guinea hen that moved into our yard, and I couldn't eat that...it's sort of the world's crappiest pet at this point), I'm pretty okay. I can't eat things like veal or mutton though...baby animals are too cute, and I think sheep make better sweaters or claymation characters than food.
Besides, chicken is too damn good to give up...and having some poultry running around the house, I can tell you, they're awfully damn stupid. Not that that means they deserve to be eaten, but I can't imagine them minding too terribly. :o |
