As some know, i have a Gaiaonline account.
its been hacked by someone named "menewsha"
this person not only stole my valuable items, but got me permanently banned for password phishing.
now, i cant even go back and have my items the hacker generously left over...

i finally got back onto my account by changing my password and found this.

Weren't you the one who posted the gripes about Menewsha in another fourm? Musta made someone mad. Glad my Gaia accounts have different names than this one, then, as I agreed with you on several points.

I've never been hacked. Did you do anything to make yourself more open to this attack? Share your password with too many people, perhaps?

I actually don't understand how hacking works unless someone has gotten ahold of your password.

What is password phishing?

i never gave out my password. i know the internet rules..

i don't know what password phishing is.. i recieved an e-mail saying my account was banned for password phishing...

Actually, some people do it by putting a viris on your computer or putting you on a "different website" which looks the same.

I'd reccomend looking at the URL every time you sign in.

I would guess that it's Pming people asking for passwords (you know, like the "You have won a prize! Just send us your username and password to accept it!), but I couldn't say for sure.

Try e-mailing them and explaining the situation.

Gaia's got a messed up process for banning people. Not much you can do about that. A friend of mine was banned because someone donated botted gold to her. She, of course, wasn't aware it was botted. And they never let her back on.

You seem to have some evidence though. You might be able to argue your case.

That was along time ago, thank god.

The only time I've ever been hacked was on Neopets, and it was my own fault since I was being a cheating little bastard and trying to find out a "special cheat" to get more neopoints. Lesson learned and karma served.

The reason I barely play Gaia. They're too strict (and unfair) on some things and not strict enough on others.

Lucky i haven't been hacked on any site yet. my sister has been tho and it happened about 2 times.

1st time she gave out her pass.
2ed it was a virus..

The only reason i found this website was because someone in the General Discussion on Gaia today was posting about how this website is just a spoof website for people to use to hack Gaia, but when i came here it doesn't even look at all like you could use it to trick people into thinking you're on Gaia. It's so weird. I don't mind at all that this place looks smilar, it's a pretty neat new site and i kind of like the dolls for the avatars.

Ouch... yeah... viruses suck >.<

I'd get a virus scan thing too if you don't have one already.

Actually, I can almost see how the admins could use it for such purposes, but I don't think they would. Or even if that was the original purpose of the site as a whole, it's eveolved into much more than that.

Gack! How horrible! I've never been hacked thank God. Maybe its because Im rarely on O.x

But I have hear about what Kaze-bear said, about sites that look just the same. I have Mene on my favorites so I know that Im login in the right one. But there are sites that horrible mean idiotic people put up in search engines like Google, Yahoo that look exactly the same as the original one and when you try to login and put your name and password, somehow it gets recorded or something. And then they can get that information and get into your account.

Im sorry that had to happen to you T__T

But checking the url is a must.
