Have you ever had nightmares?
Nightmares normally occur when someone is under a stressfull situatuion or when the person has a trouble that cannot solve, the unconscious mind tries to give us clues on how to make it work through very vivid intrinsic dreams considered nightmares.
Normally Nightmares are in color, sometimes we dont have any clue of what is happening or who the people in them are, some others we know the people and the places, but we find ourselves doing things we never dreamed we could do.
Some people try to analize this dreams same as regular dreams by writing them on a notebook as soon as they wake up.
Nightmares can also signify deeply rooted psychological problems. Individuals who have been abused as children will suppress memories at the time of the abuse only to dream of them years later.
In cases like these individuals should try to seek counselling to help them get through the trauma. If this isn't possible, they should try reading books on child abuse to give them an insight into their situation.
you have different kind of nightmares:
-Object/animal related phobia
-Death Dreams
-Guns
-Fish
-Teeth
-Being chased/stalked
-Being pregnant
-Houses
(pm or post if you want info about those)

e.g
Quote:
I keep having dreams about snakes. I've had them since I was little. They used to be in the backyard in my dreams but now they're moving to different locations. Last night I had one where the snakes were in the school and this kid that died in March was in it and he looked dead. What do the snakes mean? and why do I keep having these dreams?
Recurring dreams indicate a fear or an unresolved issue. One way to deal with the recurring dream of the snakes is to try lucid dreaming. This is when you become conscious in your dream and are aware that you are dreaming. If you are able to do this, then ask the snakes what it is they want and why you keep dreaming about them? If the snakes are hostile and you are afraid in the dream then face the snakes and master the situation in some way. Seeing the dream through to the end is important in overcoming it.

You will have to look at your dream in its entire context and determine how you felt about the snakes in the dream. You should also look at the other associations in the dream. You said they were in the backyard. Why were they in the backyard? What sort of association do you have with the backyard that might account for the snakes being there?
Tell us about your nightmares!!!

My most common reoccurring nightmare usually starts out in this old Victorian house. Its a bit run down but not like in the horror movies, like it just needs a little care to bring it back to something really pretty. I'm going through this closet, a little panicked, and then wind up in this brown, dirt tunnel. It looks like a mine shaft I guess, and as soon as I enter, my dream turns from color (or sometimes black and white) to the browned out old movie type. I'm still looking through my eyes but everything is brown, dark, and has those lines running down like an old movie.

That's when I realize I'm being chased. I knew before I guess, but thats just when I become consciously aware of it and I start running from the standard psychotic killer with a large butcher knife. Luckily, he's never caught me but I can sometimes still hear laughing when I wake up.

Other times this dream starts with me already running in the tunnel. I know this just means that I feel trapped in my life since this really only occurs when I'm stressed and dead tired. But this is the only dream I can remember having besides being eaten by a giant toad...

I remember this one nightmare I had when I was a kid. I dreamt that a Tyranersaurus Rex was over my bed and was trying to bite me. Jesus, I screamed and peed myself. It was so scary to me back then but now that I look back on it, it was nothing.

I think everyone has had a variation of a dream where they are being chased at one time or another. It's sort of a weird feeling, especially when you KNOW you are dreaming it. There's a trick to it, but sometimes you can control your dreams just enough to do fun things. In my case, the last time I had a dream like that (I was hiding from an armoured vehicle) I managed to realize that I was dreaming, and think myself in a Javelin shoulder-fired missile.

Only time I've realized I was dreaming in a dream was the 'being eaten by a frog' dream. I couldn't control anything though and once I woke up, my body was throbbing where the frog had taken a bite of me. Don't know if I might've hit myself on something in my sleep or what but that just freaked me out.

I remember when i was a kid i would have nightmares that woke me up because i would see something scary, felt like I'm falling or about to die.

But now days when ever i have a nightmare i don't wake up because i kinda know its a nightmare when I'm sleeping. the ones i have nowadays are some times me getting lost in school trying to get to my classes on time but never do and end up skipping all of my classes because i cant find them XD

I would be willing to bet that what happened was that you did something in your sleep that caused that spot to hurt, and your brain just added it to your dream. I know that has happened to me several times, where the phone will ring or something, and it just gets added in as part of my dream.

[color=indigo]Wow, thanks for posting this!

Recently I have been having nightmares almost every single night, and was wondering why. But there is an issue that I can't figure out what to do about it that I think about every day. That must be it!

Now that I know this, I'll start paying attention to my nightmares. Usually I remember them right when I wake up, but as the day goes on I completely forget.

One that I wrote about recently, so I remember it, goes as follows:

I dreamed I was pregnant, about 5 or 6 months along. So I was showing but not gigantic or anything. & I was super happy to be pregnant. I can't describe the feeling, I just felt like I was whole.. or glowing.. or something. Anyway, I don't know if this part was from an earlier dream or a dream I had the night before or what, but I remembered in my dream hearing that first-time mothers often don't feel the baby kick because they're not used to the feeling, and sometimes don't even recognize it until they're about to give birth. (Yeah, weird I know). But I wasn't feeling the baby kick, and I knew it wasn't normal. I had this feeling that I needed to protect the baby but I knew it was in vain. My mom was there the entire dream, & I told her and she told me not to worry, she didn't realize I was kicking until she starting having contractions. But I felt ... hmm like the glowing of my stomach dying, and I could feel the life slipping away from me, and then all this gross white goop came out which meant I had miscarried. Except to me the gooey stuff wasn't gross, because it had been my child, and it was heartbreaking instead. I still can kind of feel what I felt in the dream, this incredible sense of loss & mourning for the child that had died...I didn't feel like it was my fault but I felt this strong sense of longing for what now would never be, and remorse... actually you know the best way I can describe it that makes no sense? (sure, that's helpful!) I felt nostalgic for something that hasn't happened to me. Anyway, then I woke up because my alarm went off."

I looked it up on Dreamoods, which told me - Miscarriage: To dream that you have a miscarriage, suggests that some idea or plan did not follow through or has gone awry. The dream may also serve as a warning against your continued course of action. You should alter your path or may risk losing something of significance and value to you. Alternatively, the dream may indicate that you have been wronged in some way.

SO TRUE! haha
Don't want to write about it online because I know the person wouldn't appreciate it, but let's just say someone was supposed to do something and didn't... & now I'm in kind of in an awkward position, but I don't know how to handle it so that it works out for both of us. & I bug them about it but I know I shouldn't, yet I do it anyway.. so I guess I should stop bothering them about it & find a new course of action. Thanks dream advice!
Alternatively, I also looked up pregnancy.

Pregnancy: To dream that you are pregnant, symbolizes an aspect of yourself or some aspect of your personal life that is growing and developing. You may not be ready to talk about it or act on it. This may also represent the birth of a new idea, direction, project or goal.

To dream that you are pregnant with the baby dying inside of you suggests that a project you had put a lot of effort into is falling apart and slowly deteriorating. Nothing works out the way you want it to.

Mmm I dunno about the first part. I DID just move across the country, but it really wasn't a growing/development move. I'm actually falling a little bit behind in my life. Not horribly but I'm not moving forward.

Although I guess I'm supposed to look at the second part. Once again.. SO TRUE. Dreammoods, you so cool!

In the end though, it's probably just because my biological clock has been ticking for quite some time now (it started out when I was about 18 ) but I know that financially & the place where I am in my life right now/in my relationship with G, I can't have a baby. So I guess it's just reflecting my desire to be pregnant/have a child but gives me a way to 'get out of it' where it's not my fault. Although the guilt etc is for my unborn child, who I want to have but can't at the moment. OR maybe just because I told Gabriel the other day I'm afraid of miscarrying since there's a history of it in my family.

Hey, I should be a dream analyzer! haha yeah right.

I'll try to remember the nightmare I have tonight (as I'm sure I'll have at least one, I've been having them for over a month now) & see what you guys think!

Yeah, I've had the alarm clock be transferred to my dream where I'm just standing thinking "What on earth is that?" then I jerk awake. Still scares me though when my reality and dreams begin to coincide with each other, especially if someone is calling my name to wake me up and it sounds really soft and ghostly in my dream. My mom hates when I wake up after that cause I nearly jump out of my bed ^^;

Heh, yeah, my friends have mostly learned that it's a rather bad plan to sneak into my room at night and try to startle me awake. It ends up usually with them wetting their pants. xD

@Komitadjie
Yeah, either I freak and practically fly out of bed or I'm very cranky and give what I've been told is a look of death ^^; I'm not a happy person until I've had at least one cup of coffee. I think I was given the alarm clock simply so that I would be waking up 'on my own'.

Ohhh nice topic D!
Well I remember being a girl and having recurrent dreams, a nightmare in this case, I remember I had it for months or even years not every night but from time to time I knew the dream by heart.
I was at a fair the kind of old funfairs that used to come to town in the 50's and it was night, I could see all the fair and walk around it, it was fine, I remember myself dancing like a ballerina (at those times I used to study classical ballet) and dancing on a stage at the fair, then I was walking again when I saw an old lady, a fortune teller and she was sooo creepy, and she looked at me and showed me her ball and then this ball turned into a heart!!! I mean the organ >.< and I was so scared and god knows how I knew she was the devil and I was sooo scared I usually woke up so scared!
I didnt like it sigh

*I haven't had a dream or nightmare which i can actually remember for months now it seems. It kinda worries me but, well, I doubt there is anything actually wrong. xD;;

The last nightmare i had though, i cannot even begin to describe literally. It was way to trippy, things defying physical laws (i know this isn't abnormal for dreams, but i am saying that it did so in a way that is beyond my capability to put into words O.o;;; ).

The one before that though was just creepy, i was swimming in what was like a building full of water. I didn't need to come up for air though. I was swimming around when all of the sudden i run across the sharks and they begin to chase me...scared i obviously swam quickly away but they kept catching up. SOmehow i swam up and got out of the water (the room was much like a pool and i simply stepped out of the water), but they somehow follower me out. After this it gets really hazy, it was a long time ago and well i kinda woke up after that point I think. xB*

I remember I had a dream when I was little and it freaked me out so bad. It started out with me being in an airplane where the pilot was doing trick like during air force day. But then he went for a nose dive. When I asked him to pull up he said he couldnt. As soon as we hit the ground the scene changed to me being in my bedroom. When I looked around I was surronded by Chucky dolls with knives. They started walking to my bed. But the scariest part was I couldnt wake up. I tried so hard but I couldnt. Eventually I did and it took me forever to go back to sleep

The worst nightmare I have ever had was about me having an impossibly severe case of diarrhoea. It was so bad, with stomachaches and such that I could barely leave the loo and eventhen I stunk. Everyone was mocking me for it and by the time I woke up, I had already wet my pants!
I also dreamt that I was pregnant several times, but I didn't feel much discomfort in any of those dreams. One time I was asking my parents (both doctors) for tips on childrearing and how to ease the pain when the time for labour came. In another one I found myself in a huge library, reading biology books to find out how a pregnancy progresses.

Ok.. Yhis might not be considered a nightmare. It was just a wacky dream:

ok.. there were 2 wagons (the kind people used before cars). with a horse tied at the back of my wagon we went down a hill really fast. When we eventually stopped I thought "Oh shit! I forgot about the cow" I thought the cow had been dragged down the entire hill but when I turned around I saw the cow tumbling down the hill.. kind of rolling down. When it got to the bottom it stood up(!!) and started coughing.. Then it caughed up its cranium!! with the brain, eyes and everything! Its legs started to wobble like spaggethi but before it fell it swallowed the head again and twisted it in place.. then my grandma(!!) walks up to it and givs it a kiss on the nose... haha X}

Well i've had a couple of re-ocurring dream's, the most common one being where I am walking down a hill when I am in Lanzarote and there are lot's of cockroache's around and they start crawling over me. I try to run away but more and more start to crawl on me at which point I collapse onto the floor as the cockroache's crawl over my face, which afterward's I wake up.

( I can understand how I have this re-occuring nightmare as I did actually go to Lanzarote on holiday's and we had to walk down a hill to get to the main tourist area in the city. I have a terrible fear of cockroache's, and with my luck there was cockroache's everywhere down the hill the size of an average middle finger. I'n the end I was too scared to walk up the hill and had to have a taxi back to the hotel.

But my second re-occuring dream is the one I would like you to look into if possible.

I keep having this dream where someone in a hood / mask ( it varie's from dream ) Climb's up onto my bed and turn's me around and start's pushing my head against my pillow so that I cannot breath. I try moving but I am imobilised, at which point I wake up my body still unable to move my eye's open on my pillow and my breath slowly going away, at which point I usually force my head up off my pillow sweating and panting for air.

( I have had this dream seven time's in total over the course of 2 year's, it is even more terrifying than my most common re-occuring dream. )
