Garage Sales
I know the season for garage-saleling is pretty much over, but they're still a fun thing to discuss. ^^
My mom and I go to a lot of garage sales over the summer. It's great fun looking through others' throw aways and finding treasures. You can find some cool clothes that way too. I like to wear silk shirts, but they're pretty expensive, so I find a lot of them at garage sales. Second hand stores are great for the same reason. They tend to be a little more expensive than garage sales though. Anyway, anyone else like to go garage-saleling? Any really great finds? |
Garage sales are win.
End of discussion. I picked up an almost new "Fender Bullet" for a reasonable 400$ instead of over 800$. I've also gotten bikes, skateboards, and clothes. I love the excitement of hunting for that one special item that you never thought you'd find. |
I wish there were garage sales in my country but unluckily that doesnt exist, though it will be pretty useful, people sale their old things online though.

I love yard sale season and flea markets - I used to go to different markets every weekend with my parents when I was younger and we got some sweet stuff at them.
This summer my boyfriend and I scored a practically brand new gas grill for $35 - we took it home and had a BBQ on it and it was almost twice as big as the crappy grill we were using. I love stuff like that - the people even drove the grill to our house because I drive a small car and couldn't fit the grill in it  I love weekend trips to the local thrift store - a lot of my old clothes go to thrift stores - especially when I gained and lost a lot of weight - and I seem to have a knack for finding name brand clothes from the racks and racks of stuff in the stores - I've gotten some nice jeans and work pants from thrift stores - wonderful places. |
There's a season for garage sales?
I've seen some but haven't actually bought anything because my parents complain that I have 'enough junk' in my room already >.< I do go to flea markets and swap shops though! Sometimes you can find really cute things. |
I love garage sales! It's a lot of fun, but I suck at the haggling part D:
I don't generally buy clothes though, because you can't try them on :C But I love buying movies, books, CDs, and Hello Kitty paraphernalia. |

My mom says the reason she never does garage sales anymore is because she got annoyed with the hagglers. She didn't like the idea of someone trying to talk her down on a glass that was already marked as 10 cents. Really, people can be ridiculous. |
We have yard sales more than garage sales around here, although I never go to them...I like flea markets better. Parking is usually a smidge better (certainly than just throwing it into reverse onto someone's unkempt lawn) and if stuff sucks...move onto the next booth.
The people who have yard sales around here really overdo it too...they're not content to just pick a weekend and see what they can sell; they practically become full-time businesses. I drive past one house everyday on the way to work, and they always have a folding table set up with all their crap for sale. Further down the street, one did turn into a full-time business...they renovated their barn and call it an "antiques" shop now. It's pretty ridiculous. |
I love garage sales. I used to go so often, but now I just can't seem to find the time.
I normally look for older antique things that the people don't realize is worth much. xD |

I only haggle if I disagree with a price and if it's over 25 bucks. D: Wow, if someone did that to me, I'd refuse to sell anything to them at all. |
My mom loves to go garage-saleing.
So, whenever our car passes by one, the whole family will look at Mom, and smile teasingly. :3 |
They aren't a common thing in England. We have carboot sales, now and again but thats usually at specific places, not outside your house.
I do like them though. Pick up all kinds of odditis that i'm never going to need. I've always wanted to go to a proper flea market. |
._. in my whole life, i havent seen one garage sale D; and that makes me sad. Haha. Oh wel, i go to flea markets most of the time :] its so friggin awesome. Cheap stuff $w$ haha.

I love garage sales, and have since a very young age since both my mother, and grandmother, always used to get up at the crack of dawn to go scouting around towns, looking for them. :3 Thrift shops are nice to, but I've only found a few things that I really liked enough to buy. Most of the time they over price there merchandise, when sometimes it's not even worth selling. v-v

My mom and I used to go garage saleing all the time. We'd find a ton of really fun stuff to bring home and decorate the house with. I miss those days sometimes. Ah the disappointments of no longer living at home.

i love going round and seeing other peoples junk! but usually my mom doesnt want me buying stuff from them because you never know if its broken or anything.... that and i have too much junk as it is..
but i love going to flea markets..... theres this 1 place with aeropostale clothing... i bought $30 for like $12 and a bunch of other cool stuff..... its sweet and really fun..... i just need to find their Hollister... =D |
I love garage sales.Though over here we have more Yard Sales then garage sales(but they're the exact same thing lol) Ehm i've been to a Flea market once. I didn't have any money with me, I was just browseing, but there was so many things that I wanted. And I absolutly LOVE thrift stores. They can have amazing things, you just have to know where to look. and sometimes they don't but oh well!! I love trying to find vintage clothes when I go to places like that. :D

I love garage sales. My friends and I bought these 2 huge boxes just filled with books for about $5. Sometimes things are so cheap, that you have no idea what you're really buying, but the price is too good to resist.
But there are some things you just shouldn't sell at a garage sale. Like...used socks. I'm sorry, I love socks, but I'm not buying a pair if someone has already been wearing them. |
YAY for garage sales! We have a community yard sale day in our neighborhood and TONS of people have yard sales. I walk around the neighborhood every year with my friends looking to treasures. I usually buy junky stuff but the best yard sale purchase I've ever made was a pair of crutches. When you're a kid, crutches are so much fun to play with, and because I never broke my leg or did any other harm to it, I was deprived of a pair of crutches. Lucky for me I found a pair at a yard sale and they only charged my one dollar for them, yup only $1!
Unfortunately there's no good thrift stores around where I live, so I've got to stick to those yard sales! |
I really love garage sales because I can find so many things that I couldn't find anywhere else. I always end up finding great toys (like stuff from the 80s) and clothes. I do a lot of cosplay, so I like going to garage sales to see if there are any spare cheap clothes that I can find to mod into a costume that I might be working on at the time.
Garage sales are indeed full of win. |
I love going to garage sales (and flea markets for that matter) and looking for old comics. Also I like to see the different stuff that people have and at one point in their lives this meant something to them.
|
I've never been to a garage sale but i've been to a car boot sale, I guess their the same.
I bought a 12 string guitar from a car boot sale for £520. |
I love garage sales, especially community garage sales where a bunch of people are participating.
My favorite thing to look for is jewelry...because even if it's ugly, it's kind of funny, and always really cheap. I hate it when people sell their crap for too much, I don't haggle though, I just leave. My best finds recently include a bunch of rainbow jewelry(which the lady gave me all of for 25 cents, I actually felt bad for only giving her that much), a cd case for $1(I've been looking for one), and an amateur painting of a giraffe and a flower for $1. I love thrift stores too, especially Goodwill. They're very well organized. |
I've been dying to go to one for a few weeks now.
But I always forget until Sunday evening, when they've all ended. D: |
