I have a very strong work ethic so its very rare for me to miss a day. Usually I have to be sent home by my boss. I think the last time I missed work was for two days, and that was because the doctor put me on bed rest for a bacterial infection in my intestines. I was supposed to be out all week, but after two days I went back to work. Very weak, but I was there.

Well I am a bit of a guy when it comes to getting sick. If it were not for my parents and sisters, I would not see a doctor for anything. I would just check my symptoms online and try to wait my illness out.
The only time I'd allow myself to skip school, is if I am puking. Last semester, I was about an eyelash away from passing out during class! I thought about going home, but then I thought about some things I needed to do in a computer class and decided I will stay unless I almost pass out again, or actually pass out. Good thing I stayed too. I was over whatever the heck that was in about an hour or so. It was really strange. |
When I was little even if I had a little ear ache I would milk it for all it was worth just so I could stay home.
But now I have to be puking up my lungs, have mrsa or some other horrible disease for me to skip school. |
I always insist on going, unless I have a really high fever, or some extremely contagious disease. :X
|
I sometimes wake up with a horrible headache and a churning stomach. Usually, puking is where I give up. But curiously, I won't actually puke unless I insist on keeping my stomach empty. Isn't it supposed to be the other way round? Anyway, my Mum's a doctor, so I can't fake illness. One day, though I was like this, she insisted that I go anyway. On the way home, I puked... Like hell. She regretted it.

How sick do I have to be to miss school? Well... really sick--really sick to the point that I can't move? I usually endure my sickness, and go on to school as normal. Though, it's quite embarrassing when you cough in the middle of class and everyone's looking at you. >< |
Jeez, for me it depends. If I just don't feel well, I will try to ditch, but I also try to go when I can. My parents usually say if you don't have a fever, you aren't throwing up, and you can still walk, you are well enough to go to school. Unfortunately, I am a very healthy person. Well fortunately and unfortunately. You know? Today I just didn't want to come! But I did...

I'm horrible for going to class when I'm about to faint or throw up. We get a lot of people like that in my faculty, in fact one of my profs sent me home one day. She refused to go on with the lecture until left. >.<
We now have a pact in my classes that if people are sick they will stay home so everyone else will stay healthy as a upper respiratory infection has practically wiped out the department this month. I'm still working on recovering ^-^ |
Depends. Once I skipped a day in college because apparently my head decided to try to kill me with pain. Usually, though, I stay at home when I'm ill AND I know that I don't have any important tests or exams to take.

I usually go no matter what and typically only missed about 2-3 days of school every year. xD When I didn't go to school, it wasn't because I was sick really. One day I went to a play and didn't get home until really late and I didn't want to go to school the next day cus I knew I'd be tired. xD |
I felt abit sick this morning so just stayed in bed.
I mean, I've felt worse, and still done stuff, but meh... =] |
Personally.. I hate High School. But, I'd rather go then miss things I should be learning. .. Yeah.. I'd rather get okay grades.. But, if I'm really sick.. Then I'll stay home..
|
Unless I have Mono, minigitus (sp?), or some major disease then I can miss school. I got the flu once and still went to school! (I was then forced to go back home! XD. School nurses are so nice.)
|
If I feel as if I can't concentrate then yea there's no point in going. However, I'll always have a legitimate doctor's note. This is for work, I'm no longer in school.
I did skip and fake sick a lot though in High School. Hahaha. |
I skipped a class last week to rest, so I could be well enough to make the rest of my classes that week. I hate missing classes. D':
|
I can stay home if I feel sick, but even then I will still go to school anyway. When I feel really sick and don't have important lessons, there is a chance of me staying home.
Also, I learned to live with headaches, those aren't really a problem. |

I haven't missed a day of school since... kindergarten. Oh, and if summer school counts... a couple days there.
My lil sister, on the otherhand, gets fever of 101 and more often so the headaches keep her in bed. If I start throwing up, or can't even open my eyes or speak, I'll stay home. But as luck would have it, I've only been really really sick during weekends and breaks so it never conflicted with my school schedule. |
First you need a real temp of 99.9 - 101. For me I black out with high fever. ^^; I hated high school. Oh also I have killer cramps that dont let me walk so I stay home for that. hmm.. vomiting... dunno what else :?

For school, if I felt a little sick I would stay home. For me to miss work I pretty much have to be dying. I run the pet care department so I have to be there to see what needs to be done, scan out and pets that may have died (mostly fish), make sure all the pets are taken care of and the sales floor and habitats are spotless, and things like that. It’s a mess after I come back from my days off because people seem to think just because a manager isn’t there that they can be messy and not clean anything.
|
I feel the same, I think its better to skip and get better then to go and get sicker.
|
I generally don't stay home from school/work unless I'm throwing up. And not even always then. I've gone to work a few times where I ended up tossing cookies...D: And fevers...if I can surely tell I definitely have one. :X Usually I only miss 1 day of school per year due to illness. I suffer it out for the rest of the year.
|
If I have an obvious fever and symptoms before school or the night before I don't go but if I'm feeling a little off I still go. If it turns out I can't make it through the day or my friends look at me with worry then off to the nurse I be. XD I don't get sick often but when I do it's an issue. ><;
|
Sick enough that I can't stand up straight without wobbling from side to side or having to prop myself up. If I can barely stagger across the room, I'm not gonna go in to uni.
This is also my general rule for hangovers, though in that case, it's usually the nausea and the headache that prevent me from going anywhere. And I've got to say, hangovers leave me incapacitated far more often than disease ever does. I think the last time I skipped school for any real length of time, I was recovering from an operation. I went back after a week, which wasn't very pleasant considering I still couldn't speak properly (it's really not nice having stitches in the roof of your mouth). |
