I'd have to disagree with you. If advertisements truly made us do something, then half of those who either look poor, ugly, or whatever, will be looking twice as better than they do now. They only control those who believe what the media says is true, not those that do not believe it is true.

yeah.. I have low self-esteen issues, and I blame media for it D: but not just media, other people too!
I had no pressures on how I looked before I went to junior high, and it was a biig shock to me to see that other people really cared about how I looked O.o
I had to learn how to make up and do my hair, had to rethink my clothing and all.. :o otherwise people would think bad of me and talk shit behing my back. it felt silly and unfair.
But I guess thanks to them I do look kinda good now ;o

mmm well Im not against make up or clothes combination but that is if that makes you happy, but if you werent normally like that and you changed because of them and now you say NOW Im looking good, then it is wrong, because you were good, they just made you think you werent and thanks that you have changed and did what they suggested ...is that you found the feeling of acceptance and you believe yourself you are better this way...
I mean it is complicated to understadn but believe me there are many studies that confirm we are having low self esteem because of the media, and we are becoming high consumers because otherwise we feel like crap...

yeah. it's unfair that I had to go through that change, but come on, a teenager, filled with hormones and suddenly someone comes telling you you don't look good and stuff :F I didn't want to be picked on.
But I created my own style through different phases, and now I'm comfortable with my style and stuff :3
But yeah, now it's the media that is cousing me self esteem problems :/ how I hate it. >.> but can't help it. *sigh*

I'm Happy with my body, my face, my things, the way I am, I'm not overweight, but I'm not very thin, but I always hear I've to lost some kilos, I always Answer that I if I lost kg as they say I will disappear XD
I think it's sad seeing how influenciable Many people are, something by it's own nature, some because wanna be highly accepted by the society, the why can vary a lot.

But I think that there's no perfect anything, people, situation, thing, anything. First of all, because if you think something is, someone may not.

I don't think the media ever made me feel bad about myself when I was young. It just gave me some ideas for the kinds of jobs I wanted in the future.

I think it only started to affect the way I felt when I was in middle school. But I wouldn't blame it solely on the media because my family helped.
