Wow, my sister just told me this...

Some people were killed in Belgium, and there was a note that said: I am Kira (or something like that, it was in Japanese). So pretty much someone is killing people thinking that they are Kira, from Death Note (aka: Raito...aka: Light). That's kind of odd and stupid at the same time, because they obviously have a better chance of getting caught because I doubt they have a real Death Note. Just thought I'd share that with you.

Neko-sama 1992 10-24-2007 01:51 AM

that's really stupid of them...

I agree, they're probably going to somehow get the creator of Death Note in trouble because the media will be all anti-Death Note, which will cause people to be all anti-anime.

Great, that's all we need. More people going all 'OHMGODZ DE TVZ IZ CORRUPTIN OUR KIDZ!!!' Why can't people be original? Or better yet, just not murder people. ;.;

Lol, I agree. But then again, it IS part of humanity to want to kill sometimes, but we aren't suppose to actually DO it. In the end, we'll be our own downfall.

You're completely right. People do want to kill others, it's their own decision whether they actually carry out that thought or not. Which is why it annoys me that some people blame it on TV and games and stuff. Yeah, because we can't make decisions for ourselves any more. And you're probably right about that second part too.

We choose to blame things on T.V and games, like you said, only because we're too selfish and arrogant to actually blame ourselves. We want to blame our entertainment, when we should actually be blaming ourselves for wanting to reenact what our entertainment does for some odd reason. And I agree with you, we can't make our own decisions because technology has made us lazier, which is causing us to not want to think as much anymore. But apparently, our generation is going to change that.

Nathuram 10-24-2007 02:05 AM

Either 1) It's just a rumor, 2) There's an anime-addicted psychopath on the lose (If I had a dollar for every time I hear of that), or 3) There's an actual copycat that thinks killing people in that fashion is cool.

Either way it's just another thing for the majority to point at and say "Teh cartoons n vidgams iz corupting ur kidz!"

phrank 10-24-2007 02:05 AM

But.
What if their name is actually Kira?
And they're just some crazy person.
It's not necessarily a reference to Death Note.

It is, I can't remember what exactly happened and what not because while my sister was telling me about it...I really wasn't paying attention.

It's kind of sad, really, to see so many people blaming it on other things. It seems that very few people can actually own up to what they've done. Even with small, every day things, people are quick to point the blame at someone or something else.

The Azure Sky 10-24-2007 02:10 AM

ohh wooow
maybe he got one of those fake Death Notebooks like my friends'...lmao, but yeah..that's so stupid how a kid would even be that bored and that stupid to think what he's doing would be just like the anime....
i hope he skips all the way to the end and just kills himself and pretend Ryuuk did it..

Ha ha ha ha, sad thing is that I have a fake Death Note. I might take it to school tomorrow just for the heck of it.

Anyway, I'm going to go to bed now, if there is still a conversation going on when I get on tomorrow I guess I'll reply to what I feel like replying to.

Il Palazzo 10-24-2007 02:13 AM

I guess that's Otaku to the extreme. I heard something like this happening in reference with Evangelion, but I didn't pay to much attention since I didn't understand the reference. >>;
But, seriously, that's quite sad.

ai na tenshi 10-24-2007 02:30 AM

O.O....wow....someone went lil over broad with there anime intake for the day

Fil 10-24-2007 02:32 AM

Haha, weeaboo.

I wonder what kind of mental disease makes one believe they are anime characters. Honestly, that must be a pretty fun thing.

Well, except for the people who died, I guess.

phrank 10-24-2007 02:39 AM

I bet it would be pretty nifty to think you were an anime character.
You'd be unimaginably out of proportion.
But other than that, life would be great.
Maybe your range of vision would be bigger because of those enormous eyes.

Fil 10-24-2007 02:47 AM

Well, yeah, I guess, but I mean the perception would be pretty awesome.

If I thought I was like, Goku or something, then I'd try to kill green guys that were eating people so he could get stronger.
That would lead to fascinating adventures, wouldn't you think?

phrank 10-24-2007 02:50 AM

I think it would be better to think I was PacMan.
Even though he's not an anime character.
Would everyone else turn into themed characters as well?
Because I don't think other people would like me trying to swallow them whole.
That would be sort of annoying.
But still pretty awesome.

life in red and black 10-24-2007 03:05 AM

My dad told me when he was a child, Ultraman was the hottest thing on television in China for kids.

Then two brothers jumped off the roof thinking they could fly like Ultraman. One died. And parents complained. After that, my dad never got to watch Ultraman on television until it appeared on the chinese channels we have on satellite less than a decade ago when my little sister and I got to watch it. ^o^

My little sister and I was like, 'Wow, can't believe someone was that stupid... and now those dumb kids took a show away from you, dad. Do you hate them?'
My dad just shrugged.

phrank 10-24-2007 03:09 AM

Well, I'm sure someone's tried to fly in a a Superman costume, but failed.
Miserably.
But Superman hasn't been taken off of anything.
They solved all that with warning labels.
:3

Nissa 10-24-2007 03:14 AM

I found the article on it http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...-to-death-note and wow, I can't believe it. Someone is very psycho and it's going to cast a bad shadow over all of us anime fans.

phrank 10-24-2007 03:16 AM

Haha.
Now all the cops will be like
'You like anime? -eyebrowraise-
Where were you last Saturday?'
I can see that happening.

Rofl.
They already stopped my friends on the street when they cosplay ^ ^;
If weirdos dress up as naruto characters and kill people off with shruikens or kunais... oh man... that would be bad. >.<

Yea... this is making us fans look bad.
