Sewing
(I apologize if this isn't the right forum for this thread. If its not feel free to move it or lock it or whatever.)
A few years ago I learned how to sew, mostly so I could start making my own costumes for cosplay. But now that I know how to I really like sewing just for the fact that I like sewing! Are there any other of you out there who sew? If so, how'd you get into sewing in the first place? Have you ever sold anything you've made? |
That's cool. I wish I could sew enough to do that, but all I can make is pillows. I learned a little from my mom and home etc. class in school. My friend can make costumes though, she made her and another friend of mine's costumes for Halloween.

That's neat. I wish I could sew because I would like to make outfits for cosplay as well. ^-^ The most I've ever sewed was a pillow and a tote bag. |
My best advice if you want to start sewing for costumes is to just go for it! Just start making 'em. They might not look as well as you'd like at first, but you'll be surprised how quickly you can pick up these things when you go for a big project like that. ^__^

I sew! I started sewing because I wanted to make a plushie. I was taught to sew in one of my high school classes, so I just started making plushies. I also make some of my own clothes... I think you posted this in the right thread. Maybe they should add a craft thread to the forum... ^^
I have not sold anything I've made...Yet.. As soon as I make this one plushie for someone, then yes I will ^^ |

I can sew with a sewing machine. :3
But as for embroidering...ahahaha. xD;; There usually is lots of "OW I STABBED MYSELF" and "Damn it, gotta take it all out now." xD |
No, unfortunately I don't at the moment. My camera sucks any and all batteries dry. -_-

I can't really sew, but I try. My friend on the other hand, is awesome at sewing. She made her own Halloween costume and it was really complicated.

I tried for years to sew, I suck at it >.>; I tried to make cosplay costumes, and puppets, and stuffed animals, but i never sewed them right. They always ended up messed up to mooing hell. It was very sad, and I need to know how to sew because all my pants are ripped xD.
But because I cant sew, I use safety pins, duct tape, and hot glue in the place of a needle and thread >w< |

I've always wanted to sew, ever since I was little, but I never really got into it, partly because the sewing machine scared me.
I finally conquered it though, so now I can actually get things made. I'm not very good at it, but now that I can use the damn machine, I can start making things from patterns and get better. ^__^ Too bad I moved out to go to college and don't have a sewing machine or any fabric anymore. T__T |
I had to learn to sew the minute my son learned to walk, otherwise I'd have spent a fortune replacing ripped up clothing. I've never sewn something from scratch, but I can mend darn near anything.

Ah, see, I'm just the opposite! I have a much harder time sewing when I'm mending something than when I'm just making it in the first place.

I use to take sewing lessons when I was younger and I made all these toys~ Ah I had so much fun in those days~
I've recently been playing around with felt again making small plushies etc. I wanna get a sewing machine and try bigger project. I wanna make some giant vegetable plushies! I've seen some on dA and I wanna make my own~ |
